  • i know who does thins better JOE BONAMASSA!

    he is God~

  • je man i got a line op four g3 prince joe satriani mike stern

  • please does anyone have tabs for this ??????????

  • @SDupe44 Im not a hater! I like some of vais music, but hes overdramatic, no doubt about it. Yeah hes epic, im not gonna lie! But theres no need for how he acts!

  • 3:53 now that's what i call micromanaging!

  • eric...why the headphones? geez.

  • fortunately there is no malmsteen...

  • first of all stfu about steve vai, second i just $#!t in my pants

  • @HartsChannel Thank you for sharing...

  • @evilhowser lol

  • i cant stand steve vai... hes such an overdramatic, bigheaded prick

  • Stevie Ray had a much more "in your face" way of singing this... but wonderful guitar work in this... why wasn't Jeff Beck invited to do this?????!!!!!

  • @Hendrix215 Beck WAS invited. Joe said they invited everyone you can think of, even Eddie Van Halen. They were just at the mercy of whether they wanted to join the tour or not.

  • 1. Eric Johnson

    2. Who cares

  • Eric Johnson rockin the ES-335, freddie king would be proud.

  • Steve Vai must like Minnesota cause this and his last live album were both recorded in Minneapolis, about 15 miles from my house:)

  • Who knew lord voldemort played guitar??

  • good instrumentation in this and red house BUT WEAK VOCALS>>>>>....

  • LOL I love how EJ comes in like a big fat nerd with his big studio monitor headphones. Looks like two hostess cupcakes on the sides of his head.

  • 1º John Petrucci

    2º Steve Vai

    3º Paul Gilbert

    4º Joe Satriani

  • @jasonbecklegend

    1* Randy Rhodes ***

  • @jasonbecklegend No.

    Steve Vai

    Satriani

    Gilbert

    Petrucci

  • @ZribTurd hahahahaha

1º Petrucci, because his compositions are unique and unparalleled. His alternate picking is really cool

2º Steve Vai, because is a genius but he has not a really good technique like Petrucci or Gilbert

3º Paul Gilbert, Because their string skipping is a inovation and I invite u to hear his songs

4º Satriani, I dislike their rock songs are awful and boring

    Grettings \m/

  • @jasonbecklegend I listen to all 4 of them constantly. I mean we all got opinions.

Petrucci is great, I do love his compositions, but his soloing is what gets kinda boring after a while.

Steve Vai I say is the best out of all of them is because I think is technique and solo style is the best.

He's learned the guitar backwards and forwards, and his compositions are the most sophisticated out of all of them.

Satriani is just really humble, and I love his solos' always melodic.

    Gilbert is amazing

  • @ZribTurd steve via plays so alien... but its the out of the norm kinda guitar playing that really gets me such as his! amazing!!!!!

  • @jasonbecklegend So, lets make sure this doesnt turn into a fight of whos a better guitarist like amateurs do haha. Because they're all amazing guitar, it just depends on your style of music.

  • Joe is a Blues guitar player

  • joe´s rulez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Creo que Satriani se los fusila a los otros dos, con todos mis repectos a Eric y Steve

  • anyone else every think billy corgan shaved his head to look like satch?

  • i love satriani's personality, he's just a nice guy

  • is there no end to this mans talents not only a amazing guitar player but he can really sing well to ...blimey always suprises me

  • 3:12 - Use you imagination here.

  • @ZomBLord Total and utter epic fail by the sound guy.

  • satriani is singing!!!!!

  • @paragshah2112 - I know; that is cool and therefore rocks!

  • @paragshah2112 im personally a way bigger fan of paul gilberts singing than satriani's

  • I pissed off a troll. >:^) I'm happy.

  • @ShadowLancer128 haha pwnd him you did :D

  • @Guitareben thx

  • looks like stewart Hams there mind you he's the best bass player on the planet.

  • Ok.... I'm more of a purist when it comes to the blues..... but I actually enjoyed this a lot. They did their own thing with it, and I respect that. Plus, each one of those guys up there is beastly! IMHO, not a 5 star, but a very high 4.

  • if you notice Ej is the only one not playing a signiture model

  • omg Satchs chrome boy is sexy guitar.

  • I've been to a few of those G3's...

Jeff.. Jeff.. Jeff!! went to high school with that little cutie.. I love his drumming...

  • YES!!!!

  • epic

  • that was super! ... Satch & Vai Forever! ...

  • I was there... and back stage too

  • 4:13 - 4:16 TASTY LICK!!!!!!!

  • eric is the best

  • WOW! Now I know why Joe Satriani never sings on his albums!

  • @SebastianMehenka Actually he has sung on a couple tunes on his albums.

And it's not like his voice was really bad.

  • It wasn't terrible, but I personally don't think it's album worthy.

  • lol...

    .. blush..

  • hmhm. ;]

  • lol...

  • Going Down

    Down

    Down

    Down

    Down

    Down

  • what the!!! 2 rockers 1 jazzer.. nice

  • the fuckin sound fail wen steve vai plays the initial riff...

and this never sounds like the ORIGINAL version plyed in 1996 the initial riffs on this video was edited and even remotely resemble the original....

    FAIL HERE

    (SRY MY ENGLISH)

  • Man that's too much guitar awesome in one place, surprised it doesn't explode.

  • That places should have imploded with pure awesome

  • Satch owned that shit

  • fucking awesome

  • I was there and must say it was the best live performance ever!

  • @MzGabbieNuNu

    Lucky bastard !

  • So much talent on that stage

  • Have to agree with marceloguita,

    G3-10

    Satriani-10

    Vai-10

    Johnsonn-10

    Hamm-10

  • Great comments.

  • I think satch has a tendency to not solo for that long compared to other guitarists in g3

  • Well of course. Satch doesnt solo that long because hes a friggin monster when he solos, like when a black belt walks away from a fight. So does Steve Vai. They are kings, and want music, not shred. If they were to solo, EJ's volume would be overwhelmed, and thats exactly what NOBODY wants.

  • @ShadowLancer128 Satch sucks balls.

  • @Sunderlanding Go Away, Troll. Earth's Full. Go Home.

  • @ShadowLancer128 That don't make no sense, and Satch still sucks balls. Take a good look at him. He's such a douche. He tries so hard to seem cool, but he just sucks and all his songs sound like gay 80's soundtracks.

  • @Sunderlanding

earth is full. go home. if you can't understand that, you'll never be a great troll.

    Go away.

I don't bother with pathetic people like you.

  • @ShadowLancer128 You don't bother with people like me? Then why the fuck did you post two comments? You should really think about what you say because now you look like a douche and a hipocrite.

  • this is supposed to be a powerful blues song and I hear no power coming from any of these players sure they have skill but please at least pick a song which suits your talents not a blues song. SRV and Freddie did this best so leave it be lads.

  • Very right. This is just NOT their thing. This is supposed to be nasty gritty blues rock. I doubt any of these dudes has had dirt under his fingernails or callouses on his hands. Much less ever been in a knockdown fight or punched or kicked in his life. LOL.

Keith Richards was a good man for this song, too. But not these guys.

Anyway, good comment. Glad somebody had the balls to say it.

  • lol, k. i'm not a fanboy, but eric johnson will rape any guitarist that you just mentioned nit hat paragraph at blues, just because a guitarist can play more than one style, and not be limited to the pentatonic scale doesnt mean he's not amazing at blues. just thought i'd let you know that. so go back to your E pentatonic and bending a fucking note for 5 mins..

  • Well, alls I can say is, maybe one day you'll develop into something more than you are right now. But for the time present, you're just another wee-willy high-school guitar wanker. So you ain't shit to me, to get up on your high-horse and tell me you "thought you'd let me know" , or to "go back" to anything, you punkass cunt-face. At least wait until after you move out of your mom and dad's house before you cop your little shithead attitude about blues music.

  • lol, i dont hate blues, everyone starts out on it, and everyone from time to time feels like they need to jam out to some blues, but saying that keith richards is better for this song then satch, vai or eric johnson is ridiculous. again, just because the solo isnt kept within the pentatonic "box" doesnt mean its not blues.

  • Why not write to Keith and tell him how you feel? Maybe he'll care more than I do.

  • how you even say that joe satch is one of his biggest fans

  • fail

  • douche

  • 10

    10

    10

    10

    10

  • Haha Johnson trying to pull off some PG headphone action.

  • Erics note selection fit great. I personally didnt care for joes solo in this segement

  • joe satriani singing!!?!?!?? whoa lol

  • who originally plays this song?

  • i believe it was freddie king

  • is it me or does vai always conquer the stage in every g3??

  • It's just you lol, I personally think Eric's solo was so clean and for an improv sounded like it had been previously played I'd give him the gold star of this performance.

  • vai needs his fan seriously

  • Luv the whammy at 1:45

  • satch has a great tone

Vai needs to learn to play with out the Edge locking Bridge and wah pedal

    Eric is a beast

Either way, Eric and Joe > Vai

  • Why, it makes him sound awesome.

  • That's the way he plays, Joe uses his edge and a wah a fair bit normally anyway.

  • If you ask me Joe does with the wah what Steve does with the Edge, listen to Joe's songs like The Souls Of Distortion, or Mind Storm and you'll hear it, but I would rather hear that than the abuse Steve puts his bar through, but oh well they are both epic beyond a level i can even begin to criticize lol

  • have to say i agree

  • he does, have you heard the songs "Tender Surrender," "Lotus Feet," "Whispering a Prayer?" you can't critisize anybody unless you've actually listened to some of his music.

  • This is a Freddie King song that Jeff Beck played with Stevie Ray a few times. . . And the few jams with Beck and Stevie are loads better than this performance.

  • Ej is the only one keeping it real, and at 3:17 it looks like Steve is having a seizure

  • is that stu hamm on bass

  • yep

  • isn't this a freddy king's music?

  • 3:21-3:52 was the best part

  • These guys did a tribute of Van Halen's 5150. Does anyone know who the vocalist is for that track?

  • I wish EJ could have had a longer solo

  • Eric was the only one staying in reality, Satriani and Vai were to busy showing off and messing around to play good

  • Well it does have to do with stage presence, probably the reason they were messing around . Eric gives off kind of a George Harrison vibe as he plants himself next to Stu Hamm and nails down the rhythm. My respect for Eric just increased about 200%.

  • but even still i would take Satch over Vai any day

  • Fucking idiot, Satriani and Vai are epic guitar players in their own right. Just because they *gasp* don't play like how Eric does doesn't mean they suck. Get your head out of your ass and form some opinions that aren't retarded

  • I can have any opinion that I want, Bebo1026. And, in this particular case, my opinion is that Vai and Satch have boring written all over them. My opinion is also that their guitars are butt ass ugly. Another opinion that I can voice is that they can barely even "shred" (if that's what you're after)-- when they need to go fast, they tap. The worst part is their tone, however. It's the most nasally high gain sound I have ever heard with no midrange. Sick.

  • Look up some of vai's and Satriani's songs and listen to them LIVE and them come back and tell me if they can shred you ass hole....

    go FUCK a squirrel !!

  • u r fucking right.and yeah worst part is their tone.

  • watch a video of steve play for the love of god...he can shred. so can joe even if they choose not to.

  • LEGENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw joe and leslie west play this on their most recent tour and holy shit i was blown away!!!! What an amazing show that was!

  • same ere. i was at the wiltern in LA

  • Cool man! They put on a hell of show!

  • yeah i met satch b4 the show tht was amazing! we bought meet an greet tickets. and he answering questions an stuff such an experience

  • First time I've ever heard Satriani sing... Wow!

  • what happened to the sound at 3:29? it's muted there.

also why does Ej seem to blend in with the stage equipment? you cant really tell that he's there unless he's starts playing

  • There's something about Vai I don't like lol

  • one of 2 things. or maybe both. his singing and his need to look somewhat gay lol. if he stopped wearing skin tight pants and cut his hair a little more he'd be ok. the mullet went out almost 2 decades ago lol. but his singing does still suck. in fact, NONE of these guys should sing. stick to instrumentals Ej, satch and vai!

  • It's his style of playing, I don't see why people say he is so great. It's just not my style. Also, I think his Ibanez JEM guitar is retarded having that handle on it. On top of it, he looks like a flamer.

  • You don't have any idea what your talking about, so shut the fuck up.

  • are you referring to my comment with EJ? or vai? i mean, come on. yes they're amazing guitar players and i'll never say anything different about that. but vai does look weird with long hair and tight pants and Ej doesnt really do much and isnt even in the light. he might as well be behind the drummer. and if you want to comment in an intelligent way to argue my views, be my guest. but dont sound like a whining bitch about it.

  • If you truly enjoyed there music, and anyone's music for that matter. you should look past there appearance. I don't know why that matters anyway... People who like to express themselves (Vai, Satch) do what they want to do. And If you've got a problem with that then, fine, but take you criticism elsewhere. Nobody here gives a shit about you opinion anyway. And I'm sorry if I'm being harsh, but the sooner you understand that the better.

  • i appreciate your response and you're right on several notes. their appearance doesnt matter but it's only something i find amusing. i saw chuck mangione play a while ago and he was wearing platform shoes and i thought it was one of the funniest things i saw on stage. but it still doesnt deterr the fact that he's an amazing trumpet player. i do feel entitled to my opinion and im sure several ppl will agree with me. i dont mind agruing the issue; but thanks for responding in a mature manner.

  • oh, in case you're interested, check satriani play going down with petrucci and west. THAT was insane! no criticism there lol

  • Will do. Petrucci is great in a jam.

  • cos hes tht good maybe

  • SORRY - this CAN'T compare to SRV/Jeff Beck version at the very same venue in1989. Can you say SOUL?????????

  • Agreed! :D

  • Who of the three doesn't fit in?xD

I mean, nothing wrong about Eric Johnson... He plays like a god! But there's something about the semiacoustic-guitar, short hair(not long or bald), clothes and the way he doesn't move that makes it look like he doesn't fit in..!x) Great song and solos though!:D

  • Comment removed

  • I honestly think it's because EJ is the only non-wanker up there... i.e.: he doesn't look/sound like a sodden idiot.

  • Joe satriani nice!!! steve vai Niceeeee, eric johnson what the fuck are you doing.

  • eric just looks awkward

  • Steve Vai has such a masterful technique...distinctive yet never repetitive..and he seldom overplays yet pulls out crazy squeals and harmonics that fit in perfectly. All these guys are awesome & the percission brings it all out too. LUUUVVVNNNNNN THIS!!! Peace

  • eric johnson needs to let loose and be more flamboyant for jams like this. i didnt even know he was there until his solo.

  • GREAT cover of Don Nix's masterwork..

some of the best jammin it out in their trademark styles & havin FUN playin it TOGETHER.. Hand'n off to each other & backn each other on the solos! I just can't get enough! How is the sound quality this great?!...gotta thank Satch, arcaylan, & YouTube! Peace.

  • Wow that's really awesome of them to be covering Freddie King. Very Cool.

  • What a GREAT guitar Jam!! And the awesome percussion holding it together is impressive too!!

    Luvin this...Thanx to arcaylan!!

  • the 3 greatest guitarist

  • maybe even buckethead

  • yngwi malsteen should b there along w/ eddie van halen

  • I'm going to go cut myself.

  • malsteem who? never heard of him

  • Exaclty!

  • ???

    whaaat???

hee is sooo great ...not like satch or vai..

but such a god of shredding..

black star is only one of his great songs..

  • why can´t they make a G5 with malmsteen and tony macalpine too????

  • Because Malmsteen is a warthog-faced buffoon who can only do one thing.

  • LMAO XD well said mate

  • did u knw steve took lessons with joe?
