  • I was expecting something more exciting... :(

  • The noises sound like Helper from the Venture Bros.

  • Wacky death metal noises? Definitely sounds like death metal anyway!

  • With guest vocals R2D2!

  • >Mastodon

    >Death Metal

    Fucking posers.

  • Wow this video was loud! but sick as well!

  • what is that game ? ha

  • the weird part with the scrapes and stuff sound like what they were going to make the vocals if they could every decide but it sounds like they went with noise over vocals but LONG LIVE MASTODON!!!!

  • it always sounded more like a turntable to me, those noises

  • Very instrumentally talented band, I could probably get into them if I had a way of getting their music, I don't use Limewire or anything and when I download from Playlist.com they don't have very many songs on there. That's why I usually just buy CDs.

  • For the people debating whether or not it's pick scratches.. it's all just recorded vocals that were messed with. Check the live videos, Brent does it with his voice and whistling.

  • there is not even that many scratches in death metal

  • my friend was ranting on about how good this tune is and asked me to check it out...i will report back to him that it is utter shite.

  • @Arcturo767 Reall, you would be reporting wrong.

  • dude what character are u playin as in this game its looks alot more intence than point man

  • i love the entire song man even the awsome haywire bit hahah

  • this song is a bit marmite by the looks of things. i love all of it, the first time i heard the wierd noisy bit i thought it was exactly that, just weird, then it grew on me. next time i get smashed i will listen to this. psycadellic mannnn :P

  • badass!

  • awesome man. badass song. fun game!

  • i think the "whacky death metal noises" = funny.

  • @LAZRBASS i agree man

  • If by wacky deathmetal noise you mean the pick scratches, i don't understand why everyone knocks that part. All of those noises are made the same way that Tom Morello does most of his wacky solos, and they call him a genius for it, but to me its boring as hell. Brett makes his guitar sound like its actually talking without a talkbox or killswitch and you call it wacky deathmetal. Its fucking genius.

  • I don't fault him for that. He's very technically impressive, but so's Buckethead and a lot of his stuff is grating to my ears.

And no matter how awesomely amazing his technique for it is, it's a jarring part of the song. I know it's written that way, I know it's supposed to do that, yadda yadda. But the plain and simple fact of the matter is, *I* don't care for them. That doesn't mean they're bad by any measure, I would just rather the song without 'em.

    Cheers.

  • The moral of the Story is - We all have our own opinions. I dislike tom morello. He is interesting, but i dont think he is much without all of his effects pedals.

  • I think it's awesome. It's all calm and melodic and then it's like BLAM! Hardcore! I imagine it as a child's cartoon of a character walking through a meadow and then BLAM! Acid is poured on his head and it turns into Metalocalypse! It's awesome!

  • @fckth3systm actually its all vocal stuff not pick scratching...u can see him do it live hes just screaming intense giberish but they threw mad effects on it in the studio

  • @fckth3systm I agree with what your saying bro but his name is Brent

  • @fckth3systm I wish thats how he did it...but no, if you've ever seen them live youd see that he just sort of screams and yells into the microphone to make that noise. And on the recording its just more yelling and but sped up really fast.

  • @fckth3systm actually, no they aren't pick scratches, they are wacky death metal noises. Mastodon called upon the power of the construct elk goddess Technologias to create them. welcome to progressive metal.

  • @fckth3systm

Dudes my favorite part is the fucking death metal noise part, the rest sucks lol. Fucking neighbor annoyer right here, I fucking love it!

  • umm, i don't get this game at all. What's the point. Also, is it just me, or does it not sychronize with the music at all?

  • its... audiosurf... there isnt much to GET about it. its a kickass trippy game and its auto syncs all the songs so it isnt gonna be perfect, but it is pretty good with most of the songs ive played it with.

but... there kind of is no point. its just a game where you fly around on a road with trippy ass colours and hit certain panels.

    nothing TO get...

  • No, it's fine. I know what you mean about the Youtube idiots. UGH! But regardless, you meant well, you were defending your genre.

  • I understand what deathmetal vocals are, but regardless it's a dischordant, chaotic few measures that don't mesh well with the rest of the song. I know that's the point, and I know that it wouldn't be Mastodon without that part, but I still don't care for it nearly as much as I do for the rest of the song.

  • Sorry. I suppose I shouldn't have assumed I knew what you meant. I'm just used to dealing with the usual youtube idiots, if that's any kind of excuse. It's just I listen to death metal, and get kind of touchy about the misrepresentation of it.

  • @DarkSwordmaster the chaotic sounds make the song what it is. its baldecatcher. the death metal sounds are a flurry of blades bombarding your soul

  • I assure you, there is no "wacky death metal noise" in this song. I presume you are referring to the ultra-distorted vocals. However, these vocals are in no way characteristic of death metal. Death metal vocals are more like growling. Just thought you should know.

  • trippy video

  • HOLY SHIT!!! Uh, mind telling me what the fuck that is and where i can buy it!???
