Hey dude. I read your post on RC-Monster about your conversion. At first I always thought about getting the Tekno kit but after reading your post I too might go 3905 tranny style. Since your pics are deleted and can't find any resources on how to do the 3905. Could you please send me a pm with a working link to your "latest" conversion? Today I got my 3.3 roller and im anixously wanting to convert this puppy!
Thanks for overstating the obvious... LOL This video was recorded before the e-revo was released and there wasn't a Zippy as we know it today.... I have 4 zippy packs myself, while they are not anywhere near the quality of my FPs, Elite's, my SMC or my Neu Energy they do a wonderful job for the price.
In the end it's cheaper and easier than buying the conversion kits/parts. The 3905 and e-revo tranny is built for brushless and already 2nd gear only. The balance and cog is nice, expecially w/ the erevo motor plate. I would, and do tell everyone just get the e-revo chassis at this point it's a far better option, funny enough it's more durable than the alum nitro chassis over time. The battery weight on the sides out on a track destroy the chassis quick...
Does the E Maxx trans hole pattern fit in the Revo 3.3 or u have to modify the pattern, i saw that u cut the frame a little bit to pass the spur gear !!! Thank s !!
hey "STUMBLINH"what were the few minor parts??? besides the 3905 tranny,..were those minor parts used to convert your roller into electric?...... you see i have a brushless e-revo,though I'm not happy with the capacity of the battery trays...... so i am debating if i should get the "ROLLER CHASSIS" or "GORILLA MAXX".....on a lighter note ! do have an EBAY account with this same name?
hey thanks alot , I've been debating if i should spend $350.00 on the gorilla maxx g2r , or just buy the revo platinum edition aluminum chassis for just $60.00
No idea, been a long time since I had thish setup. Sorry... I've long since switched to Elite 35c lipo's and 40c SMC's. Much Much higher quality than the old MA's were and a LOT cheaper to boot!
As shown here it wasn't all the expensive, I snagged a new nitro roller, sold the nitro parts used that money to buy the 3905 tranny and grabbed a few other minor parts ?300 You can get a MMM combo for about 250 now and batteries can very: on the low side zippy 5000's at say $50ea or less each to nice hard shell 40c race packs at 129ea. A good charger can be had for under 100 but my hyperion duo costs closer to 300 w/ power supply. Tires can add up too.. as little or as much as you want..
hey stumblinh i just bought a medusa 80-2200 and some 8000mah 6s lipos, i know that the medusa 80 is close to the neu 1521 in lenght and size just 3mm less dia. and 2.5 mm shorter but i am wondering what your take is on the medusa's? becuase after seeing asheck30's revo that little 60mm looks to give of some decent power so what do you think my run time and performance will be to your e revo in this video, i also have good road tires thanks,
Medusa makes great motors iMO, I run the 60mm in my buggy (not a good size for the erevo). The 80mm is perfect for the erevo and my second choice past a Neu design (Neu, Castle-Neu, Tekno-Neu). The 80mm while in length is similar to the 1521 it doesn't even have the output of the 1515. With that said though with the right gearing you should easily be able to obtain the speeds I did, I'd gear for around 50 for bashing though to keep temps down and run times up. Enjoy!
I wonder if i could get your advise. I current own an E-Savage and because of it's troublesome drivetrain and limited motor space in a stock chassis, i was wondering if you could recommend one of the tamer and shorter canneed Medusa motors so it may fit in my chassis and be a bit more forgiving to my trucks drivetrain. Similar performance without the heat to a 8XL would be perfect
Well the 36x60mm 2000kv is very nice on 4s geared for 35-38mph (thats as small as you can go), if you want more than that I would go w/ the 70mm which should be fine to about 45-48mph. The 80mm would be almost equal to the Neu 1515 if you wanted more but it doesn't sound like you want that...
hi stumblinh you were right about the kb45's they pull a but load of amps! was running it down the road and within 10 minutes the fam on the MMM was on and not long after the bepper on the dx3s went off (set for 180) i am not impressed with this motor, btw i got a medusa 80 commin! :) should be alot easier on my batts and my speed controller
yep my kb45 is fucked i can spin the motor with my fingers and then the motor stops where every i stop spinning it, and it only got to 192 farenheit, so all you guys with a feigao and cheap motors pay close attension to your temps!
Not exactly, takes a little work but not bad at all. Emaxx or erevo will work w/ slight mods to hold it in place. It's cheaper and easier to just go w/ the erevo chassis and tranny (snag off ebay). revo chassis isn't solid enough where you put the batteries so after time teh chassis will give out anyway and you will have to replace. my 2c. I run the erevo chassis now myself from this very problem.
Looks like you just dropped an Emaxx tranny where the revo tranny was. Did you have to drill new holes for it to mount up nicely? I have a 2.5 that im about to convert to brushless.
Basically yes.. emaxx 3905 tranny (brushless ready). After using that for a while I can tell you it would be worth the couple bucks to just get a erevo chassis and tranny off ebay vs converting. I've done both and now I'm using the erevo parts, much improved.
I had an old emaxx when they very first came out but then later sold all my rc stuff. but i now see 8 years later or whatever that I never even heard of lipo or brushless motors and this shit seems to be much much improved. i used to like to drive my truck a few hard sprits a few jumps and alot of just put put around and bats would last about 12 min..how long can you get with the new tech of battery?
Depends on a lot of variables.. but bashing with a pair of 8k lipo's (4s or 14.8v) will get you 30-45 minutes depending on weight, gearing and how hard you are pushing.
With new NIMH batteries or Lipos you can get 25 to 30 min bashin around. I'm not sure how long they last at a constant throttle run. Selling the e-maxx to buy a Summit.
k got got me too a quick question, on castle creations web site they say the built in fan in the ESC will only kick in at 150 F, so was really the esc at this temp so quickly or is there a another explication ?
Is the 3.3 aluminum chassis conversion a lot better than the e revo plastic-composite chassis? I noticed that stumblinh said that the 3.3 didn't 'hold up' under racing conditions...anyone have an answer because I really want to build one.
i would do the 3.3 conversion, its probally cheaper and then you can say you never took the easy way out about a stock e revo, also you can hold bigger batteries with it, and i think looks alot cooler in my opinion and i think it is lighter to doing the conversion, mine weighs 11.4 pounds with 2 3s2p 6000 maxamps packs each 450 grams and with a 557 gram motor (kb45 8xl) so around 8.7 pounds with a 36 mm can but no batts. i think the traxxas erevo is around 9.5 or so, do the conversion
To be honest when my 3.3 aluminum chassis broke (after just a few weeks of racing at the track (battery support area) I decided to go to the plastic-composite erevo chassis and it's a TON nicer iMO. The only thing to consider is the 30mm battery height limit w/ the erevo chassis, it's not a problem typically but just something to consider. I'll never switch back, and I raced with it for most of a season.
Oh man! I was just reading about your conversion on rc monster forums Yea I was reading about your 3905 tranny mod, "stumblin's transmission mod" they called it lol...small world eh? Anyway, you prefer the plastic over the aluminum? Did the 3.3 chassis bend, or break into pieces on you? Thanks!
BTW, I wish they made a carbon fiber e-revo chassis already..
Ya actually it was just one side but the 3.3 frame part that supports the battery tray just couldn't hold up over time. Yes it was nice being able to use any size battery but again hitting jumps and racing it just didn't hold up. If you were just doing speed runs or some basic bashing it may hold up just fine. Another note I was using 2s 8k batteries at the time so sticking with some smaller 2s 5k packs would improve your chances of it standing up over time.
Yes there was some and to be honest I did have to re-tune a bit to have a similar feel on the track. Ended up w/ 70wt oils all around, and stiffer springs. Once I got use to the change (5minutes) I fell in love w/ the pluses w/ the erevo. Also expecially if you race battery swaps are a TON faster in the e-revo for long mains etc, you don't even have to take the body off.
Out of curiosity, why are the Traxxas trucks so common for speed runs? I see a ton of people getting them to 70+, but why those? It seems a little counterproductive.
Not sure, Traxxas just happens to be one of the biggest co's and by far has one of the best distribution networks. Good price/quality ratio helps. I will say the revo is in a class of it's own, it is a monster truck that can keep pace or beat truggies.
I have not done speed runs in some time, but if you don't have a race track near you that does lead to more asphalt and speed running. Soon after this video I found a somewhat local track and I don't do anything but race now so my trucks are all geared for about 40mph top end. (e-revo, 8ight-e truggy and buggy)
To be honest 70 would be easy, I never even geared up for this video. I took this video last spring and then started racing my erevo at my local tracks; I'm hooked.. LOL I sold my phaltlines and have my trucks all setup for racing now so most likely I won't be pushing for higher speeds. If I happen accross a set of phaltlines I may do it to do it, but it's not likely.
A lot of the PE upgrades actually; 17mm hubs, sway bars, 70wt shock oils, blue rear silver front springs, etc the basics. I've switched to the e-revo chassis as my conversion chassis didn't hold up long racing and I'm running the center diff as well.
Tires: Proline LPR holeshot or crimefighters (basically a 1:8 truggy tires)
Hey what kind of tires are those? I have the MMM in a emaxx on 6s and if I get up to 50mph they expand and run right off the road no matter where I steer. And I have a whole lot left. Thanks.
hey does anyone know if a kb45 xl has more torque then a neu 1515 1.5d? i have mine geared for 54 mph with heat temps only 117 farenheit, so im sure i can get 60 odd mph out of it even though it is a amp hog, but i cannot do any wheelies or anything becuase their is snow on the ground
Those motors are not even in the same league as each other.. while wattage maybe similar those kb45's they are no where near as effecient. They are a decent cheap brushless motor though, amp crazy and temps shoot up quick.. but if you can get by that w/o issues with your setup then no worries.
Picked it up at tower hobbies... honestly don't recall the name though sorry. If I get a chance I'll look around but I'm sure they still carry it. just search for revo body.
hey man that is a beast dude got twin velineon 3500 vxl3 3s in my revo now dude it is fast. lof lots of fun. stumb" but it has a huge heat problem? dont know if u know the cause but help if u have the time 2 answer i will thank u mate i think it is the pinnion and gear ratio causing the heat, stock e-revo gear and pin, have oredred the pro line flatlines and have the mmm in the post.
Could be many things, but the v-twinn is only good for ~50mph (safely) so don't over gear it. Once you take a motor(s) over 200 degress, you usually demagnitize the rotor and then it will heat up even faster. It could be many othe things.. check for drive line issues (bad bearings, kinks etc). Rotors cost a lot though, skip the repairing and move to a single 1515 Tekno-Neu or Castle-Neu motor w/ a MMM if they are bad.
Yes I was using two 3s 11.1v lipo's in series with each other equalling 6s 22.2v. The tires/wheels are HPI phaltlines, they are by far the best onroad tire out there. Enjoy.
a 2s1p 2000mah battery would have 2 lipo cells, linked in series. each cell is 2000 mah
a 2s2p 4000mah battery would have 4 lipo cells, 2 linked in series, 2 linked in parallel. each cell would be 2000mah
if a 5000mah battery with x amount of cells has a discharge rating of 10c, to work out the amp rating, u simply divide the mah rating by 1000, and times the resulting number by the c rating, in this case giving 50a
Just be careful with their 20c packs under 8000mAH. Those are fine in this type of a setup typically... and the new 30-35c packs should do the job as well. Stay away from the Maxamps 6k and lower packs in this type of a setup those are best used in 1:10 stadium and such. I have tons of different lipo's now and by far and away the best packs I own are the Elite 35c 5k lipo's, simply amazing packs!
You need to watch my E-Revo race night video... LOL 2wd rusty is a joke compared to any revo. PS that wasn't even geared up and I hit 62mph with solid temps. I use to own a Rustler and hit 70 with it.. 3s velineon but after I got the revo I couldn't bring myself to run the rusty.. painful! No joke.. Geared up this setup could have hit 75 easily.. I gave up on the speed runs though as I found two local race tracks and that is pretty much all I do now, way more fun.
1y 40~45 on 4s, 2d is 35~40 on 4s depending on gearing lower side will be cooler higher will cause more heat. 1y is the most effecient for general you're asking. If you are running 5s lipo I would get the 2d, 6s lipo 2d or 2.5d.
Sadly those Novak are really not all that great due to heat issues at 40 or more. For short bursts I'm sure 42ish is not a problem, but if you plan on racing or running for long periods of time gear for 34-36 range. If you want a system capable of more I'd suggest moving to Castles new Mamba Monster Combo that is about to release. Good luck!
hey remember me i asked for a top speed combo and you recommended a 1515 1y and a castle creation ESC so i bought the motor today and a castle HV-110 ESC and i have the E-revo so im stuck with the small battery compartments so i made up a plug where i can hook them up and make 22.2v out of 2 11.1v lipos, does that sound good?
yes 2x 11.1v in series will get you the 6s 22.2v config and be great.. I actually recommended the Castle Monster ESC though, there are some differences as I don't think the hv-110 can do reverse, but not 100% sure.
erm i think you will have a lot of problems one of them being the software not having the start-up of the mamba car controllers.
Secondly it wont have a variable brake and thirdly it just wont work for car applications very well. in fact the only way people have managed to use airplane controllers is by using a mechanical break which is a pain in the anus.
crap i havent even got it yet i bought it off ebay it said nothing about it being a aircraft contoler i was just looking at the stats being 12s suitable so i was like hell ya but i guess its now aww crap
Man i just started today to plan out how i was going to set up my brushless E-REVO and now i find your video and your already useing all the stuff i had planned for mine, you truck looks great at 62MPH its running stable and still nice and cool, if you dont mind me asking have you geared it higher to see what the TRU top speed of that set up is??? im planning on seting mine up for onroad only and im looking to have it set up for atleast 70+MPH, what do you think??
with 22/54 gearing 70 would be very easy with a good road setup.... technically my 22/58 is capable of hitting 70 but wind etc is a huge factor at that speed as well as finding a nice long stretch of road where you are not afraid of opening it up. My spektrum has a dead zone on my street so I am limited a bit. :(
max amps packs are junk but not as bad as the mamba monster it is a nightmare smoke bomb from hell you couldnt give me one ....90% failure rate I swear.
Ya MMM's have some issues.. ive had 5 myself. The MA 8k packs are actually very good.. I get longer run time and as good of peformance as my 5k 30c enerland packs; even my 5k 28c SMC packs.. so I guess one mans jumk is another mans treasure :)
Neu 1515 1.5d with a Mamba Monster Max ESC. Yes it will be about the same on the emaxx. You don't want to run the 1.5d on 6s all the time, if you want to run that hot of a system I would get the 1515 1y or the 1515 2d for bashing and speed runs. The 1.5d can handle 6s but it's at the top of the RPM's and won't take it for extended use most likely. The 2.5d geared for 40mph is the best on track solution iMO. No difference between a 2x 3s in series vs a 6s setup.
um i have and e revo um what do u think would be a better choice and brushless novak 4.5 or a mamba max or monster mamba max as in speed run time and price
Cool vid man. I wanna go brushless cus My E-revo is too slow for me at like 40miles tops Its still fun but I'm really used to the slower speed so I gotta kick it up a notch with a mmm set. BAM! Ur Revos nice but u say its hard to keep from wheelieing well y not try some wheelie bars? Man if its that hard to stop wheelies then thats sweet. Hey 1 question. Can u do a backflip from a dead stop I seen vids of people doing that. Really cool truck. :D
Actually I almost never do anything but race with it anymore (vs truggies)at the local track (kinda local) so a lot has changed and it's geared down some (21/62) as well.
hey heres an idea place a few ounces of weights at a time to the front of the E-revo tell wheelies stop that will help. i did the same to my hopped up stampede VXL and it made a huge differance in stopping the wheelies and allowed me to kick some serious speed 69.7MPH with the same GPS hes using on this video
Well in order to get the most run time with an erevo you need to use a pair of 2s2p 8000mAH lipo's (about 35min racing). This is only 14.8v so to make the most of this voltage people tend to get the Neu 1515 1.5d as it's a 2700kv rated motor, you can push 45-50 on a 4s setup racing. The 1y while a nice motor will be a bit slower at 2200kv, the Neu's have enough torque that heat isn't really an issue so the 1.5d it is :)
man, u spend way to much money on this hobby haha. sick revo. ill take a guess and say about $1400 at least. and those tires do look good. all u need now is a wheelie bar and some sway bars, those will keep it on the ground and make it a little easier to control at high speeds.
out of control stick wheelies... I was doing everything in my power to keep from doing a wheely in order to hit the best top speed. Lots of throttle control.
I saw you rigged up your own battery trays. I plan on running 6s with the 1515 1y in an e revo and was wondering if it would be worth my time to do the same. The 3s 8000mah maxamps won't fit in the stock trays but do you know if the 6000mah will? About how long are your run times with a normal gear ratio? I don't plan on going much over 40 mph other than the occasional speed run.
That is a pretty loaded question and has way to many variables to begin to answer. If I were to run the same speed (50) and not push the battery past it's limits the run time would be the same since all my packs are 8000mAH. If I were to change up any variables speed etc it would change the results.
You can't unless you have bad cells :) Anyway your motor will pull the same amount of watts if geared for the same speed, so if you do run the same speed they will have run times that are very similar, but the higher voltage setup will run a little cooler. With higher voltage comes the ability to have more speed though and with more speed requires more wattage so you will burn through the mAH faster...
Nice

no offense man, but my rustler vxl goes just as fast with a 7 cell!

So have you thought about some type of ballast to hold the front end down?
You need some type of weight in the front to put down the power. front splitter for weight(ballast) and aerodynamics?

A good charger can be had for under 100 but my hyperion duo costs closer to 300 w/ power supply. Tires can add up too.. as little or as much as you want..

hey stumblinh i just bought a medusa 80-2200 and some 8000mah 6s lipos, i know that the medusa 80 is close to the neu 1521 in lenght and size just 3mm less dia. and 2.5 mm shorter but i am wondering what your take is on the medusa's? becuase after seeing asheck30's revo that little 60mm looks to give of some decent power so what do you think my run time and performance will be to your e revo in this video, i also have good road tires thanks,
Luke
shittybill93 2 years ago
Medusa makes great motors iMO, I run the 60mm in my buggy (not a good size for the erevo). The 80mm is perfect for the erevo and my second choice past a Neu design (Neu, Castle-Neu, Tekno-Neu). The 80mm while in length is similar to the 1521 it doesn't even have the output of the 1515. With that said though with the right gearing you should easily be able to obtain the speeds I did, I'd gear for around 50 for bashing though to keep temps down and run times up. Enjoy!
stumblinh 2 years ago
I wonder if i could get your advise. I current own an E-Savage and because of it's troublesome drivetrain and limited motor space in a stock chassis, i was wondering if you could recommend one of the tamer and shorter canneed Medusa motors so it may fit in my chassis and be a bit more forgiving to my trucks drivetrain. Similar performance without the heat to a 8XL would be perfect
hardcoretam 2 years ago

:) should be alot easier on my batts and my speed controller
shittybill93 2 years ago
yep my kb45 is fucked i can spin the motor with my fingers and then the motor stops where every i stop spinning it, and it only got to 192 farenheit, so all you guys with a feigao and cheap motors pay close attension to your temps!
shittybill93 2 years ago
where did u get them?
JOSHAPPLE101 2 years ago
does the emaxx tranny bolt right in
sledkid99 2 years ago
Not exactly, takes a little work but not bad at all. Emaxx or erevo will work w/ slight mods to hold it in place. It's cheaper and easier to just go w/ the erevo chassis and tranny (snag off ebay). revo chassis isn't solid enough where you put the batteries so after time teh chassis will give out anyway and you will have to replace. my 2c. I run the erevo chassis now myself from this very problem.
stumblinh 2 years ago
what kind of wheels are those because those are nice!
JOSHAPPLE101 2 years ago
HPI Phaltlines
stumblinh 2 years ago
Looks like you just dropped an Emaxx tranny where the revo tranny was. Did you have to drill new holes for it to mount up nicely? I have a 2.5 that im about to convert to brushless.
Super08Duty 2 years ago
Basically yes.. emaxx 3905 tranny (brushless ready). After using that for a while I can tell you it would be worth the couple bucks to just get a erevo chassis and tranny off ebay vs converting. I've done both and now I'm using the erevo parts, much improved.
stumblinh 2 years ago
thanks, I was just going to do it to see if it could be done. Mainly sense i already have a vantage 2.5 roller.
Super08Duty 2 years ago
What receiver/transmitter combo do you have? Seems like it has nice range.
traxxasmike 2 years ago
The spektrum dx3r, love it too.. only need 4 batteries so it's very light and has a great feel.
stumblinh 2 years ago
I had an old emaxx when they very first came out but then later sold all my rc stuff. but i now see 8 years later or whatever that I never even heard of lipo or brushless motors and this shit seems to be much much improved. i used to like to drive my truck a few hard sprits a few jumps and alot of just put put around and bats would last about 12 min..how long can you get with the new tech of battery?
jerrad2004 2 years ago
Depends on a lot of variables.. but bashing with a pair of 8k lipo's (4s or 14.8v) will get you 30-45 minutes depending on weight, gearing and how hard you are pushing.
stumblinh 2 years ago
With new NIMH batteries or Lipos you can get 25 to 30 min bashin around. I'm not sure how long they last at a constant throttle run. Selling the e-maxx to buy a Summit.
bisesik 2 years ago
Can I ask how much that motor was?
chunkyfunkymonkey28 2 years ago
220ish I think.. best bet for price is getting the new Castle Mamba Monster Max combo.

k got got me too a quick question, on castle creations web site they say the built in fan in the ESC will only kick in at 150 F, so was really the esc at this temp so quickly or is there a another explication ?
themag221 3 years ago
This was actually a version 1 MMM, the 2nd generation and current 3rd generations were the first to introduce the temp controlled fan.
stumblinh 3 years ago
kk thx for the fast reponse !
themag221 3 years ago
Hey quick question if anyone can answer..
Is the 3.3 aluminum chassis conversion a lot better than the e revo plastic-composite chassis? I noticed that stumblinh said that the 3.3 didn't 'hold up' under racing conditions...anyone have an answer because I really want to build one.
urgeone 3 years ago
i would do the 3.3 conversion, its probally cheaper and then you can say you never took the easy way out about a stock e revo, also you can hold bigger batteries with it, and i think looks alot cooler in my opinion and i think it is lighter to doing the conversion, mine weighs 11.4 pounds with 2 3s2p 6000 maxamps packs each 450 grams and with a 557 gram motor (kb45 8xl) so around 8.7 pounds with a 36 mm can but no batts. i think the traxxas erevo is around 9.5 or so, do the conversion
shittybill93 3 years ago
what about the conversion not holding up?
urgeone 3 years ago
To be honest when my 3.3 aluminum chassis broke (after just a few weeks of racing at the track (battery support area) I decided to go to the plastic-composite erevo chassis and it's a TON nicer iMO. The only thing to consider is the 30mm battery height limit w/ the erevo chassis, it's not a problem typically but just something to consider. I'll never switch back, and I raced with it for most of a season.
stumblinh 3 years ago
Thanks!
BTW, I wish they made a carbon fiber e-revo chassis already..
urgeone 3 years ago
Ya actually it was just one side but the 3.3 frame part that supports the battery tray just couldn't hold up over time. Yes it was nice being able to use any size battery but again hitting jumps and racing it just didn't hold up. If you were just doing speed runs or some basic bashing it may hold up just fine. Another note I was using 2s 8k batteries at the time so sticking with some smaller 2s 5k packs would improve your chances of it standing up over time.
stumblinh 3 years ago
hey stumblinh did you notice any difference in weight from the revo conversion no batts to the e revo no batts? thanks
shittybill93 3 years ago
Yes there was some and to be honest I did have to re-tune a bit to have a similar feel on the track. Ended up w/ 70wt oils all around, and stiffer springs. Once I got use to the change (5minutes) I fell in love w/ the pluses w/ the erevo. Also expecially if you race battery swaps are a TON faster in the e-revo for long mains etc, you don't even have to take the body off.
stumblinh 3 years ago
Out of curiosity, why are the Traxxas trucks so common for speed runs? I see a ton of people getting them to 70+, but why those? It seems a little counterproductive.
Is it because of the 2 speed?
hypnolobster 3 years ago
Not sure, Traxxas just happens to be one of the biggest co's and by far has one of the best distribution networks. Good price/quality ratio helps. I will say the revo is in a class of it's own, it is a monster truck that can keep pace or beat truggies.
stumblinh 3 years ago
I have not done speed runs in some time, but if you don't have a race track near you that does lead to more asphalt and speed running. Soon after this video I found a somewhat local track and I don't do anything but race now so my trucks are all geared for about 40mph top end. (e-revo, 8ight-e truggy and buggy)
stumblinh 3 years ago
Very nice. Still shooting for 70 mph?
phoenixfire47 3 years ago
To be honest 70 would be easy, I never even geared up for this video. I took this video last spring and then started racing my erevo at my local tracks; I'm hooked.. LOL I sold my phaltlines and have my trucks all setup for racing now so most likely I won't be pushing for higher speeds. If I happen accross a set of phaltlines I may do it to do it, but it's not likely.
stumblinh 3 years ago
What tires do you use for racing? Other upgrades?
PlxDie 3 years ago
A lot of the PE upgrades actually; 17mm hubs, sway bars, 70wt shock oils, blue rear silver front springs, etc the basics. I've switched to the e-revo chassis as my conversion chassis didn't hold up long racing and I'm running the center diff as well.
Tires: Proline LPR holeshot or crimefighters (basically a 1:8 truggy tires)
stumblinh 3 years ago
Ya i thought so cause i'm like that looks like my Revo 3.3
deanieweenie116 3 years ago
Do you have to use additional 5V receiver battery? Well... my friend insists me use that, but it's really uncomfortable.

shittybill93 3 years ago
hey does anyone know if a kb45 xl has more torque then a neu 1515 1.5d? i have mine geared for 54 mph with heat temps only 117 farenheit, so im sure i can get 60 odd mph out of it even though it is a amp hog, but i cannot do any wheelies or anything becuase their is snow on the ground
shittybill93 3 years ago
Those motors are not even in the same league as each other.. while wattage maybe similar those kb45's they are no where near as effecient. They are a decent cheap brushless motor though, amp crazy and temps shoot up quick.. but if you can get by that w/o issues with your setup then no worries.

stumblinh 3 years ago
hey man that is a beast dude got twin velineon 3500 vxl3 3s in my revo now dude it is fast. lof lots of fun. stumb" but it has a huge heat problem? dont know if u know the cause but help if u have the time 2 answer i will thank u mate i think it is the pinnion and gear ratio causing the heat, stock e-revo gear and pin, have oredred the pro line flatlines and have the mmm in the post.
leftyyyyyyy78 3 years ago
Could be many things, but the v-twinn is only good for ~50mph (safely) so don't over gear it. Once you take a motor(s) over 200 degress, you usually demagnitize the rotor and then it will heat up even faster. It could be many othe things.. check for drive line issues (bad bearings, kinks etc). Rotors cost a lot though, skip the repairing and move to a single 1515 Tekno-Neu or Castle-Neu motor w/ a MMM if they are bad.
stumblinh 3 years ago
hey man, new to lipo does 6s lipo mean 2x 11.1v 3s or a 6 cell lipo 22.2v? also those tyres and rims look and run well where did u get them?
leftyyyyyyy78 3 years ago
Yes I was using two 3s 11.1v lipo's in series with each other equalling 6s 22.2v. The tires/wheels are HPI phaltlines, they are by far the best onroad tire out there. Enjoy.
stumblinh 3 years ago
s= series
p= parallel
"c" rating = discharge max amps.
a 2s1p 2000mah battery would have 2 lipo cells, linked in series. each cell is 2000 mah
a 2s2p 4000mah battery would have 4 lipo cells, 2 linked in series, 2 linked in parallel. each cell would be 2000mah
if a 5000mah battery with x amount of cells has a discharge rating of 10c, to work out the amp rating, u simply divide the mah rating by 1000, and times the resulting number by the c rating, in this case giving 50a
happy lipo'ing!
fathead431 3 years ago
thanx.
You know this all is a pretty good testimate to MaxAmps
kcaz25 3 years ago
Just be careful with their 20c packs under 8000mAH. Those are fine in this type of a setup typically... and the new 30-35c packs should do the job as well. Stay away from the Maxamps 6k and lower packs in this type of a setup those are best used in 1:10 stadium and such. I have tons of different lipo's now and by far and away the best packs I own are the Elite 35c 5k lipo's, simply amazing packs!
stumblinh 3 years ago
all that money spent and my rustler is still faster
timmytime1793 3 years ago
You need to watch my E-Revo race night video... LOL 2wd rusty is a joke compared to any revo. PS that wasn't even geared up and I hit 62mph with solid temps. I use to own a Rustler and hit 70 with it.. 3s velineon but after I got the revo I couldn't bring myself to run the rusty.. painful! No joke.. Geared up this setup could have hit 75 easily.. I gave up on the speed runs though as I found two local race tracks and that is pretty much all I do now, way more fun.

Which neu motor should I go with the Neu 1512/2D/F,1515/1Y/F,1515/1.5D/F,1512/1Y/F or 1515/1Y/S?It is going to be bashing and racing.
yamasubaruger 3 years ago
1.5d is the fastest 45~50mph on 4s
1y 40~45 on 4s, 2d is 35~40 on 4s depending on gearing lower side will be cooler higher will cause more heat. 1y is the most effecient for general you're asking. If you are running 5s lipo I would get the 2d, 6s lipo 2d or 2.5d.
stumblinh 3 years ago
Alright thanks!I have no idea what battery setup to use I was a plaining to run 2x packs one on each side dont know what volt, but I did want 8000mah.

I can see you have a lot of experiençe in the R/C world.
I wanna ask you what speed do you think a Novak HV 4.5 can hit on a 2x2 cell lipo batts in a E-Revo?
Thanks a lot
cdxgt500 3 years ago
Sadly those Novak are really not all that great due to heat issues at 40 or more. For short bursts I'm sure 42ish is not a problem, but if you plan on racing or running for long periods of time gear for 34-36 range. If you want a system capable of more I'd suggest moving to Castles new Mamba Monster Combo that is about to release. Good luck!
stumblinh 3 years ago
hey remember me i asked for a top speed combo and you recommended a 1515 1y and a castle creation ESC so i bought the motor today and a castle HV-110 ESC and i have the E-revo so im stuck with the small battery compartments so i made up a plug where i can hook them up and make 22.2v out of 2 11.1v lipos, does that sound good?
merritts28 3 years ago
yes 2x 11.1v in series will get you the 6s 22.2v config and be great.. I actually recommended the Castle Monster ESC though, there are some differences as I don't think the hv-110 can do reverse, but not 100% sure.
stumblinh 3 years ago
not sure if you got my reply but i checked and it does do reverse and its capable up to 12s lipos lol crazy huh
merritts28 3 years ago
i shouldnt have a problem with the setup i bought should i?
merritts28 3 years ago
erm i think you will have a lot of problems one of them being the software not having the start-up of the mamba car controllers.
Secondly it wont have a variable brake and thirdly it just wont work for car applications very well. in fact the only way people have managed to use airplane controllers is by using a mechanical break which is a pain in the anus.
chilledoutuk 3 years ago
crap i havent even got it yet i bought it off ebay it said nothing about it being a aircraft contoler i was just looking at the stats being 12s suitable so i was like hell ya but i guess its now aww crap

When you run with 2 batt do you have to use them allways in series? Or the ESC can handle with both connected?

Man i just started today to plan out how i was going to set up my brushless E-REVO and now i find your video and your already useing all the stuff i had planned for mine, you truck looks great at 62MPH its running stable and still nice and cool, if you dont mind me asking have you geared it higher to see what the TRU top speed of that set up is??? im planning on seting mine up for onroad only and im looking to have it set up for atleast 70+MPH, what do you think??
miamizfinest 3 years ago
with 22/54 gearing 70 would be very easy with a good road setup.... technically my 22/58 is capable of hitting 70 but wind etc is a huge factor at that speed as well as finding a nice long stretch of road where you are not afraid of opening it up. My spektrum has a dead zone on my street so I am limited a bit. :(

The combo do you have (motor and esc), will it work the same way on a E-Maxx?
What's the diferençe between 2x3s or 1x6s?
Thanks
BTW, you have a great great truck
cdxgt500 3 years ago
Neu 1515 1.5d with a Mamba Monster Max ESC. Yes it will be about the same on the emaxx. You don't want to run the 1.5d on 6s all the time, if you want to run that hot of a system I would get the 1515 1y or the 1515 2d for bashing and speed runs. The 1.5d can handle 6s but it's at the top of the RPM's and won't take it for extended use most likely. The 2.5d geared for 40mph is the best on track solution iMO. No difference between a 2x 3s in series vs a 6s setup.

Kevster012 3 years ago
Actually I almost never do anything but race with it anymore (vs truggies)at the local track (kinda local) so a lot has changed and it's geared down some (21/62) as well.
stumblinh 3 years ago
hey heres an idea place a few ounces of weights at a time to the front of the E-revo tell wheelies stop that will help. i did the same to my hopped up stampede VXL and it made a huge differance in stopping the wheelies and allowed me to kick some serious speed 69.7MPH with the same GPS hes using on this video
merritts28 3 years ago
hey 1fasterevo
srry to hear bout your MMM
but i was wondering why people prefer the 1.5D over the 1Y
doesnt it hav a volt limit of 22?
arent you running 22.2?
superinflamo 3 years ago
Well in order to get the most run time with an erevo you need to use a pair of 2s2p 8000mAH lipo's (about 35min racing). This is only 14.8v so to make the most of this voltage people tend to get the Neu 1515 1.5d as it's a 2700kv rated motor, you can push 45-50 on a 4s setup racing. The 1y while a nice motor will be a bit slower at 2200kv, the Neu's have enough torque that heat isn't really an issue so the 1.5d it is :)
stumblinh 3 years ago
is that 1 motor and 1 lipo??? or 2 motors and 2 batteries
Brothers221 3 years ago
1 motor (Neu 1515 1.5d) and 2 batteries (maxamps) wired in series for the 62mph run that was a 6s config (22.2v).
stumblinh 3 years ago
man, u spend way to much money on this hobby haha. sick revo. ill take a guess and say about $1400 at least. and those tires do look good. all u need now is a wheelie bar and some sway bars, those will keep it on the ground and make it a little easier to control at high speeds.
RKALAFUT623 3 years ago
will it do a wheely
rcskd 3 years ago
out of control stick wheelies... I was doing everything in my power to keep from doing a wheely in order to hit the best top speed. Lots of throttle control.
stumblinh 3 years ago
I saw you rigged up your own battery trays. I plan on running 6s with the 1515 1y in an e revo and was wondering if it would be worth my time to do the same. The 3s 8000mah maxamps won't fit in the stock trays but do you know if the 6000mah will? About how long are your run times with a normal gear ratio? I don't plan on going much over 40 mph other than the occasional speed run.
SuperWTFman 3 years ago
NICE TRUCK
CCH1978 3 years ago
That is a pretty loaded question and has way to many variables to begin to answer. If I were to run the same speed (50) and not push the battery past it's limits the run time would be the same since all my packs are 8000mAH. If I were to change up any variables speed etc it would change the results.
stumblinh 3 years ago
if the motor pull 120A, and the batteries provide a minimum of 160A, how could you push the batteries past their limits?
thanks
jjl5590 3 years ago
You can't unless you have bad cells :) Anyway your motor will pull the same amount of watts if geared for the same speed, so if you do run the same speed they will have run times that are very similar, but the higher voltage setup will run a little cooler. With higher voltage comes the ability to have more speed though and with more speed requires more wattage so you will burn through the mAH faster...
stumblinh 3 years ago
