The argument presented here on the individual's right to chose and the relationship between individual choice and its social impact is unassailable. We are social beings and our personal choices are in fact embedded in the larger socio-political context. A woman who by choice wears a veil is in her right to do so, but the message she projects is for anyone to interpret and the more one understands the strategies of subjugation used by institutions the better one can interpret individual choices.
