took my dog to training, but forgot how to put on the prong collar. Thanks so much for putting this video on line...great for new dog owners like me who get overwhelmed and need refreshers! I will be tuning in often:)
Depending on the size of the dog, how hard the dog pulls, and how forcefully the person holding the leash yanks, choke collars can cause invertebral disk protrusion.
As a positive trainer, I do not believe in using aversives in training. That said, this is an excellent video on the proper way to use negative reinforcement. I wish more people could see this video. Great job.
After watching a lot of video's on prong collars I must say I love your approach to them. You are very clear and concise on what you are doing. It makes it easier to understand what to much easier than others. Thanks for sharing the information. If we ever get to our area we will def look you up.
My 100 pound chocolate was a constant puller.. The prong was a last resort.. But let me tell you that was worth the wait.. he walks so much better with a prong..
In the first part of the video you mention the prong should be high on the neck, right behind the ears. In this vid the prong is positioned a lot lower. Did I miss something?
This video would help a lot of people who have no idea how to use a prong the right way. I see people "walking" dogs in my area all the time with prongs and slip collars that are choking the dog or have the prong on the dog like is a piece of jewelry. This is a great technique as well, I have experience using prongs and I learned a lot of this video.
@corgiman23 Thanks for the comment. You are right, most people who use prongs use them very incorrectly. Such use just perpetuates the misunderstandings about these tools.

@MsLabMom This statement is true of choke chains, however, to my knowledge there is no documented evidence of this with prong collars.

Awesome channel by the way!

@brubabba The prong will often tend to slide down, depending on the shape of the dogs neck. You might have to occasionally readjust. Good Call!
