  • They just don't make 'em like this anymore! No actress past or present can ever compare to this lady. She's my all time favorite actress and I'm honored to share my first name with her. Susan Hayward is simply the best!

Great job, ginhay2003. You've made a fantastic tribute to our beloved Ms. Hayward!

  • The only actress I ever found to be very unique. She had Charisma like no other actress or actor had. She was a great actress and was just taken away too young from us.

  • JoBeth Williams bears a striking resemblence to Susan!!

  • She stands alone. There was no one like her

  • Susan Hayward was one of my favorite actresses..I loved all her movies, three of my favorites were "I'll Cry Tomorrow", "I Want To Live" and "Back Street" with John Gavin. Coming out of the theater after watching "Back Street" there wasn't a dry eye, everyone was or had been crying even the men felt the love and hurt at the end.

  • Yes! I am forever mesmerized and enthralled by

    Susan Hayward.She was ultratalented!Truly beautiful,

soo enchanting and quite wise. Many never knew of her wisdom.I love her in MadamX! always! She truly shines.

BRAVO!Best #1Movie Version! Susan makes the performance her own, makes you care about the character.I still cry even now! It would do well in her filmography. Susan would be so PROUD!

  • EL MAS RARO DIAMANTE DENTRO DEL MUNDO DE LA INTERPRETACION Y LA BELLEZA......LA CLASE Y LA ELEGANCIA...........UN OPALO SOFISTICADO......UNA NATURALEZA INNATA...PARA HACER SENTIR DIFERENTES EMOCIONES......PERO SOBRE TODO UNA BELLEZA.....INCREIBLEMENTE SOBRECOJEDORA.........ME APASIONA ESTE SER HUMANO...........

  • i wanted to watch all three version of back street and when i saw susan hayward's version, i didn't know that i was missing a lot..now that i've discovered how truly great this actress is, i can't get enough..i only need 3 more movies to complete her filmography..thanks for this wonderful tribute, ; )

  • Recently TCM featured a whole day of Susan's movies, I was so excited. There was one called "Stolen Hours" that I saw as a young kid, tearjerker galore!, and I fell in love with Susan then. I've seen as many of her movies that are on DVD, some still aren't tho', like "The Presidents Lady" which I'm dying to see since I read the book. She plays Andrew Jackson's wife Rachel. Bgd360 mentions I Want To Live. She put her whole being into that great film. B & W was the only way to go in that movie.

  • Yes, she was a marvelous woman. I can't wait to read the recently published book about her. Have you read it? I think it just came out in the fall. Beautiful lady, great actress. Do you find that anyone remembers her anymore? I know the youngsters today hardly know anything about the old actors, which makes me sad. Susan was a gem.

  • loved her as jane froman in with a song in my heart.

  • I just watched 'I want to live'. The first time I watched it I was a young teenager and for the first time in my life I was struck by the power of acting. I was riveted even though in those days I regarded black and white movies as being substandard. Cancer claims her at 57. Too young to go....

  • @bgd360 Thank you for your comment! I think the black and white film gave it the seedy, gritty effect which matched the lives of the characters portrayed. Susan was amazing in this film. We were definitely cheated by her early demise but how lucky we are that we can continue to view her great body of work!

  • I loved Susan Hayward...thank you so much for sharing her with us! I miss her.

  • @Herestome2 Thank you and I miss her too!

  • When I was a kid it seemed she was always playing a great part in some Bible movie, like in David and Bathsheba, etc. There was always something compelling about her, but I couldn't identify what it was or maybe just hints of that. Hard to define. What an actress!

  • She was tempestuous, what a woman! A fiery goddess and one of my all time favorites, I love all her movies and will tune into anything she is in. Thank you for your website.

  • @SoCalGal52 Thank you! The website and video above were a labor of love.

  • That is a beautiful tribute to Susan. I love all her movies, I think my favorite is Back Street. I'd like to have all her movies on DVDs then I could watch them whenever I want. She died too young.

  • @jlove52789 Thank you for commenting. Back Street is meaningful to me also. I was only 13 years old when I first saw it, and I've been attached to Susan ever since.

  • I loved her movie....My Foolish Heart, with Dana Andrews.....

  • What did Susan Hayward die of? So young!

  • @boatstaylor Brain Cancer. She suffered from it for a very long time. She was way too young when she died.

  • @boatstaylor Thank you for commenting. My Foolish Heart is one of my favorites also. Susan Hayward died of cancer on March 14, 1975.

  • There is a new Book on Susan Hayward By Gene Arceri called"Brooklyn Scarlett" Susan Hayward Fire in the wind" I know the Gene Arceri the Author. Gene Arceri's beginning of the extensive research that went into this book. A journey that took him from Brooklyn to Atlanta, with stops everywhere, and in-between wanting face to face interviews, anywhere he could find some insight into this compelling personality. With help from Hayward's brother Walter.

  • @9847monkees Awesome, can't wait to read it. I appreciate you posting this because I didn't know the title. I want to learn more about this amazing and beautiful actress, and hope that a new younger generation will learn about her and appreciate her. Thanks 9847monkees!

  • Susan was beautiful beyond words & a constant inspiration. Her final resting place in Carrollton Georgia is serene and far from the noise of Hollywood. She gave so many people pleasure with her films. She always has a special place in my heart & in the hearts of millions.

  • a beautiful woman and actress what a lovely tribute ,thankyou for posting .brian in london

  • mi idola

  • When I was a teenager Susanwas my favorte actress. She was adorab;e.

    .

  • Does anyone know the movie where Dean Martin was the governor and Susan was his wife, he died, and then she took over as governor? I remember seeing it as a kid and never saw it again.

  • @mreunome -the movie is "Ada". I don't know if it's on dvd or not, but it's played on Turner Classic Movies from time to time.

  • @ginhay2003 Thank you. I checked on amazon and e bay and I guess it's not available on dvd or vhs. Drats.

  • @mreunome Ada was just on TCM about a month ago. She was excellent in it as usual. I thought it was a good movie and she played the part of a tough, smart woman.

  • I wish to see her movies ! Hope they put it on a DVD so we can see & watch them too!

  • Just beautiful; a wonderful collage of my very favorite actress. I keep hoping someone will recognize her great talent and beauty and release more of her movies on DVD.

  • @mimsie43 They just released her movie "Garden Of Evil " with Gary Cooper, a graet western .

  • Oh, Ginger, what an exquisite musical tribute to Brooklyn's greatest gift to the world. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • @edwardjames50 Thank you for your kind words. Susan Hayward was the greatest!

  • Lovely tribute to a really unique and talented woman.

  • This Lady had a lot of class. She was a princess. She deserved the Oscar for I want to live = 30 times over. She is truly a legend. We were so lucky to have her.

  • I never forgot this Movie.. I was on my first date and all the guy wanted to do was squeeze my hand I was so involved with the Movie that I got anoyed with my date The Movie was so intense.I went back a second time to see it alone ...Giselle

  • Lovely tribute to Susan. When I was young she was my favorite ! Just love her.

I wish TCM would show more of her movies. I don't know why they ignore her.

    Thanks !!

  • Thank you for your nice comment! I wish TCM would show more movies of her too and also do a documentary type special for her.

  • As a 7yrs old "I want to live" was my very first English movie. That was 50 over years ago! Susan and that wonderful movie have since been etched and embedded in my memory. When I chanced to see this tribute clip I get emotional and am again reminded of my childhood years. She will always be remembered. THanks for sharing.

  • Thank you for your lovely comment.

  • I'm 66 so I saw her best movies as a little girl, a very serious little girl. I love her, her scenes showing intense emotion always got to my gut. The pictures are all beautiful but the shot at 27 is amazing. I know a movie like Back Street was savaged by critics and maybe justly so, but I love watching her in it and wish it had been more meaty, more story. After I Want To Live, I was 16, I had trouble walking out of the theatre, my legs were rubbery after watching that ending.

  • I think she was remarkable,I will always love her!

  • Did not realize she had passed that young -

Backstreet with Susan and John Gavin, she

    gave the most remarkable performance

(of course, as with one of her many movies)

  • Bonito video para recordar a una gran actriz, gracias.

  • Great tribute! Seen all her movies.

  • Beautiful music, beautiful pictures, beautiful actress-One of my favorites-What a wonderful tribute-Thankyou for sharing this.

  • She is my Dad's favorite actress. I agree with desilu64 and ginhay2003.....Backstreet was a real tear-jerker. She is a very beautiful woman.

  • My fav movie is "Backstreet" I cry each time I see it!!! She was a beautiful lady!

  • Back Street was the first film in which I really noticed Susan Hayward. I love that film also, and yes I always get a could cry out of it too. Thank you very much for commenting!

  • What a beautiful tribute - Ginger your piano music fits this great actress perfectly!

  • Thank you, Lorrie! I'm glad you watched "Tulsa". I enjoy watching that film. The most memorable moments to me are when Susan gets drenched in oil and also the scene where she wears thr beautiful, whited beaded gown (after Cherokee has struck oil!)

  • Yeah - I liked the fact that she played a strong woman - not afraid to go after what she wanted...quite remarkable for the time frame.

  • I love this Lady she is the best actress ever. She lived her life to the fulless. She had beauty and talent A great role model , She will never been forgotten. My favorite movie is The President's Lady.

  • A geat actress, loved everything she ever did, saw I'll Cry Tomorrow and it left a lasting impression on this very young girl of 8 at the time. My favorite movie too.

  • I don't know what she was thinking, of course, but I do know that she had a lot of personal problems in her life so she probably didn't enjoy life all the time but then again, she probably had many moments of enjoyment. She worked very hard and supported her familiy and some extended family. She carried around a lot of responsibility. She was so beautiful and talented. She was probably the type of person who, when she was happy, was happy in totality.

  • Someone tell me if I'm wrong. But it looks like Susan looks like one of those rare people that enjoyed every minute of her life, good or bad.

  • Sigh... How hauntingly beautiful...

  • Thank you, LadyEmmaHamilton

  • As usual, Ginger, a tribute worthy of a great lady, a great actress, and truly a STAR.

  • Thank you so very much, Josephine1028!
