This is great and all, but thats just want the wbc wants. They want as much publicity and attention as they can possibly get, even if they get ran out. I know its hard but everyone just needs to ignore them and they will eventually go away. Protesting is only a powerful tool if it is being paid attention to. As for funerals, I think its great when people stand in line with flags and block the wbc from view, but it should go no farther than that.

I agree that student protests have staff supporting them. But I think it's a big leap to say that said students are 'brainwashed'- those who jump to that conclusion vastly underestimate the individuality of a young, creative mind. Having staff support is what can make many big-scale ideas into big-scale reality. Just because you get help (and approval, avoiding academic consequence) doesn't mean you've been forced into anything.

I can't remember a SINGLE "student led initiative" that wasn't sponsored by the school faculty. All this protest managed to accomplish is to give WBC more recruiting materials, let WBC realize most of CA really is a lost cause, and send WBC to protest small towns in the Midwest. In the end, the vast majority of USA is still extremely homophobic (rather they want to admit it or not) and WBC just got great promotional material. WBC is a stain on America but not one worth trying to remove.
