  • I liked the part with the trains!

  • Awesome video.. Nice catch on the two trains, too!

  • Geez, doesn't the caboose get a lot of coal dust back there? I would think they would need respirators.

  • A classic Pocahontas scene. Steve Bailey sure blew the horn! He always does! :D

That was him on the Conrail.

  • very god railfanin spot

  • Dontcha just love trains! Very cool! :)

  • is that an unlined tunnel?

  • @BaltimoreAndOhioRR Yes it is!

  • @BaltimoreAndOhioRR waths tath ........unlined?

  • @juvmol - 'unlined' basically means as-is. Like the tunnel was a hole dug through a rock mountian and left as-is. Usually, after the tunnel is dug, a brick lining is built up against the rock surfaces, so it looks 'finished'. it's rare to see an unlined tunnel like this nowadays. Even many very old tunnels, which were unlined when first used, were upgraded and lined in the 1900's.

  • @BaltimoreAndOhioRR ey tvery much my friend!

this one also goes to my favaorite in tath case

  • How long ago was this vid taken? I heavn't seen a caboose on a train for 10 years. Come to think of it, I heavn't seen a caboose on a train ever, in operation.

  • @KSE828 The video was taken in the spring of 2007. The NS has a lot of coal branches down on the Pokey Division, and as to make back-up moves down miles of railroad. So they used a caboose to make these moves and the conductor stays in contact with the engineer. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294...

  • I walked through that tunnel as a kid.

  • hey by any chance, does amtrak run through that tunnel , if so what service?

  • No, thay don't run Amtrak on the Pokey Division... jackmp294

  • Pretty rare to find a conrail on the front of a coal train with a classic horn.

  • hey check out one on my videos NS 9005 With a K5H

  • I found it funny that sprigg actually was counted as it's own place in this video. lol

  • nice to see the caboose is still used today.

  • Is that second train powder river coal?

  • No, they are emptys out of Williamson, and more than likely, with the one unit, it may have been going to local mine, or down the Buck Branch.

  • You probably won't see much powder river coal in Ky. or WV since they are 2 of the 3 top coal producing states in America. What does happen though, is that the kentucky and west virginia coal gets mixed with powder river coal at the power plants when it's burnt, because the powder river coal is lower quality and the appalachian coal improves the burn quality.
