Ew, people like this woman really disgust me. Whether or not the word is wrong aside, the caller was clearly upset enough to call in with her problems and Laura set straight to minimizing her experiences by deeming her hypersensative. She's supposed to be offering advice and counsel to people? Start by not making them feel like they're worthless right off the bat.

the way I know youtube, some people will probably reply to my comment and be like "no no you can't use the n-word" or " you're an idiot" and whatnot; well, that is my opinion and I really believe it: you can use nigger without being racist by NOT trying to be racist, words don't necessarily have intrinsic meaning, it can change on context; it is after all just the latin for 'black'; and I personally will use nigger without restrictions and if you don't agree... I don't care, I can use the word

but it isn't! if you want to combat racism just combat it directly, education in general, debunking stereotypes and explaining it to folks that beleive the stereotypes and other such actions; but as for nigger, either remove it completely or not at all, but not race-based; I agree with Laura that IT IS A WORD nothing more, and I especially agree that context is important; it ties in with the idea that it's just a word: it have different meanings depending on what you want it to mean;

primarily I find laura's arguments about using the word nigger quite sensible; why should only black people be allowed to use it? don't get me wrong, I am well aware of the history behind it; it was used as an to address black slaves; bad thing, yes and there still is racism in the US so it might seem alright to restrict the use of that word;
