Failed keeper. When Jens played he not only made great saves, he spread confidence into the defenders infront of him, he would even scream and push them out if the way if needed. So much character, crazy on the field and yets when he gave interviews he was the softest gentlemen.

@FulhamFan2 Almunia is awful??? Did you see the first leg against barcelona? he was by far our best player. the problem with Manuel is that he is inconsistent.

@charlie22k1 yea I saw the first leg v barca. I saw a awful defence performance in which enough shots were taken by barcelona that even alumina was bound to save atleast one. don't forget, he was 100% at fault for the first goal, and you could argue also the second!

@FulhamFan2 against barca he made some good saves. 3 of them saves were world class and i admit he has to take some blame for Barcelona's first goal but not all the blame. the defense was at fault for not picking up his run. as for the second goal you cant blame the keeper at all. it was a really good finish by ibrahimovic

Okay, last season might not be his season, but when I look into his face, he is the source of hope every time I watch Arsenal playing. Our main problem here is the backline, we need some tough and merciless defenders to back him up.

I sometimes have my doubts over Almunia being our first choice keeper, but all you have to do it watch vids like this to realise he really is a great keeper. This season he hasn't been so good for us because of personal problems. Let's hope he can get his form back soon

I think two of Almunia's best attributes are these

1) He rarely if ever comes out on crosses/corners and doesnt collect the ball - unlike VDS and Cech

2) when a long range shot comes in he is good at either holding it or getting it away from the danger area with a strong palm. This is with the exception of the Tottenham game

You misunderstood what I said. What I said was that when he does come out 'he rarely if ever' doesnt collect the ball. He does come out on crosses and when he does he almost always gets the ball or performs a clearing punch

because sometimes the crosses dont need the keepers to come out, professional football at the highest level is very dangerous in set pieces. hence Almunia trusting his defence.
