  • "SONIDO CUADRAFONICO, CAMA DE AGUA Y MIS ESTROBOS MAESTRO, NO HAY VEHICULO MAS GRUESO QUE ESTE!!"

    jjajajaja aguante los Simpsons

  • This is one of the greatest Rock recordings of all time. And this video actually has the sound in sync with the video.

    Thanks!

  • Arp synthesizer's kick ass!

  • Brilliant stuff, I remember seeing it on tv at the time, around 72 or 73.

My dad thought it was shit, I fucking loved it.

  • Rick Derringer, aged 12!

  • This is an astounding performance by all parties. And Rick Derringer could play his ass off on guitar!

  • YES!!! THATS HOW YOU BRING THE FUCKING HOUSE DOWN! PERIOD.

  • Flea sent me here too. Always thought this song rocked. Also RHCP's concert from Koln was killer. I like the funk jam thrown in after a song. Flea and Chad break into Frankenstein and he says they should learn this song. Pretty funny.

  • Copy and paste the following - Snuff Box - Empty Room - for a clever comedy homage to this great one off session!!

  • Adios Amigo!

  • R.I.P. Chuck

  • O.M.G

  • Truly a sad loss with the passing of San Francisco resident drummer, Chuck Ruff.

  • RIP Chuck Ruff.

  • what the hell is that synth? soooo amazing

  • why not use a guitar?

  • @gabe0083 use a guitar for? This song is GREAT....the keyboards are HUGE in it, if you cant appreciate that, I am sorry.......

  • While I like this for several reasons, I also find it a bit lame in 2011.

  • However...I knew this song a LONG time ago....never saw it live tho, kind of cool.

  • I'm here because Flea told me to be :)

  • @zombie7307 flea sent me too. What a legend!!

  • @zombie7307 What a great bootleg that is. I'm also glad I got to find out about the Old Grey Whistle Test. Thanx Flea!

  • do you think that any of the musicians nowadays could do this ! I think not ! Glorious, simply glorious !!!

  • four guys at the top of their game....

  • Increibles y ridiculos multinstrumentistas ¡jaja! un instrumental con mucho groove ;)

  • Wow, these guys knew how to have a good time

  • Yes! this one is in sync. Thanks for the upload!

  • Klosterman!

  • I'm just another old fart who remember the 70's....and I have to say that this kind of music, which was pretty typical of the day, is faaaar more interesting than most anything that can be gathered together on all the popular "who's the next megastar" shows nowadays. The expectation that people can play instruments this way is long gone.

  • @ruleta74835 I was only born in the '80s, but I gotta agree there. Talent is severely lacking nowadays. I love the older music (not calling you old, just saying I like older music :) ).

  • @101704MD - I don't want to claim that there is no talent left, but surely it was more prevalent for musicians to have good chops and be very creative musically back then. I think it's safe to say that it is much less so now, generally speaking. And don't sweat the "old" comments; I still feel young...after all, I was just a kid in the 70's...graduated HS in the 80s. ;^)

  • @ruleta74835 the real talent today is the guy at the soundboard!

  • THAT's HOW YOU TRULY ROCK!!!!!

  • Putitos

  • It gets better every time I watch it

  • look up i am the walrus school of rock pt. jeff it's amazing i play the drums

  • love it

  • Great riff, shit song, really.

  • It's Jackie Rogers Jr.!!! You like me! You really like Me!

  • Hmmm, lets see... just played the 2600 to death, and, well, thats it for me on the sax, hmmm... what should I do next? Saaayyyy, check out those TIMBALES!

  • That's Rick Derringer on the Guitar - I think

  • @mspringfeldt , yes that is Rick Derringer. He not only played with EW, he also helped produce some of EW's albums.

  • Is that Ronnie Montrose on guitar?

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • I'm not really a guy that listens to this kinda music.

    But this is just mindblowing!

  • FREAKING THE BEST EDGAR WINTER AND CHUCK RUSS ROCK AT THE DRUMS and if you wanted to know who was the drummer in this his name is Chuck Russ

  • @Chipkanobe Actually his name is Chuck Ruff and he went onto Sammy Hagar's band in 1978 until 1980.

  • @contraversi oh thank you i never knew that

  • I was not ready for the guy at the very end

  • That is what we call good ol' fashion earsex.

  • This song is hard to play on drums and what this song needs is more FUCKING COWBELL I DIDNT GET ENOUGH OF IT

  • I don't understand how they don't explode from all that awesomeness.

  • @nellynoodlebums Lighten the F up.

  • this is my favorite song ever

  • ke buena rola esa cancion sale en un capitulo de los simpson ajajaja esta con ganas si ke esta dificil encontrarla gracias por subir el video

  • The bass player looks like a young Chris Squire from Yes, ha....Edgar's brother is my favorite guitar player!!!

  • UFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is delicious :3

  • How Much Does The Bass Player Look like Pepin From Lord Of The Rings!!

  • Be forewarned. There's a frightening image at the end of this video.

  • 4:49 my jizz face

  • how bout that drum break?!

  • holy shit go albino guy fuck ya!!!!!!

  • Was this pre Operation Julie?

  • The drummer has something wrong with his mouth.

  • I don't know who the twat is on the pissy little keyboard but the other guy on the sax is great.

  • Cocaine's one hell of a drug.

  • @3:00 on is probably the most badass thing i have ever heard

  • Oh my God, what talent!

  • I will buy that guy a keytar (:

  • Saw them in 1973 (MTL Forum).

I thought I,d seen it all with Led Zep and Grand Funk in terms of LOUD shows. Also was Emerson Lake and Palmer... very clear, loud band.

Edgar Winter came down like a F'...N hurricane. Our scalps were peeled back to our ear line by the end of the first song. I'll spare any further description as by the time we reached ENCORE...

(We could have appeared on Body Worlds...)

    LOL

  • Edgar Winter then went on to create world peace, feed the world and make Joan Rivers look attractive, living proof that the man can do anything.

  • i saw this song live with ringo starr playing the drums part. needless to say my mind was blown.

  • holy shit, who is that on the drums, he's insane

    and this song kicks ass!!!!!

  • @Metallicastillrules

The drummer's name is Chuck Ruff.

  • @hyghiaumtym yea man thats from the simpsons

  • @CanadianCampusMan yupp! :D take this gold star and a pat on the back :P :P haha x

  • This is so epic, they kinda remind me of Gentle Giant.

  • this is epic, i mean this is the most amazing performace id ever seen, this guys look sostrange but they are so amazing together,

btw, Kiss my A** the 6 person who didnt liked it

  • Stop pretending to be Stockhausen you fucking idiots.

  • DIG THE CRAZY SAX, GO MAN, GO !!!!

  • I can't believe that I'm old enough to remember this. And it still never loses it's appeal with me. There have been maybe 3 or 4 dozen acts of this caliber, but they are scattered over the full spectrum of genres.

  • Forget the BBC narrator at the end. Rick Derringer on lead, Ronnie Montrose on rythm guitar, Edgar Winter on keyboard, and that unbelievablle drumkit? Jesus, find another video with their talent together. There isn't one. Thanks.

  • If Rock's definition was in video form, it would be this.

  • six people are the neighbors of edgar winter fans

  • lmao I love music. And although I told myself several times i've heard just about everything, I find this band. One word, God. Hahaha

  • I have never seen a wizard play drums, synth, or saxophone, certainly not at the same time. I guess there's a first for everything.

  • How can so called music lovers not like this, 6 people have no soul.

  • love Rick Derringer in the all-white, and the Elvis pelvis moves. That;s Ronnie Montrose in the all-red.

  • WOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW yes that's my kind of MUSIC

    (JOHAN CAPIAU GOOGLE MY NAME)

  • 6 viewers were angry villagers with pitchforks.

  • Oh amazingly blinding! This is rock!

  • Rush was just getting started...Kraftwerk hadn't even had their first hit...the Police weren't even a band yet...this was soooo cutting edge at the time

  • The host is Bob Harris, a real BBC legend. Hes still on BBC R2. Love the arp theatrics and this HAS to be the best ever prerformance on the OGWT from 74?

  • @thx1138X

    we know,

he;s the coolest pedo ever no?

  • This is Spinal Tap?

  • the bass is rape in this song! Fucking awesome!

  • Cool ass Wakeman-esque synth playing? check. Bad ass Cannonball Adderly-esque sax solo? check. Polyrhythmic drumming that would make King Crimson proud? check. And... he wrote the song, sings (not on here) like a soul god with a three octave range... I mean, holy shit. I don't know what weird juice Johnny and Edgar's parents were drinking when they were conceived, but I want some. Throw a little talent my way, Edgar. Damn.

  • lmfao 9:16

  • Apparently Dj Icey was inspired as a kid by this song. I thought I would check what all the fuss was about. Mental :D

  • lol, the host at the end!

  • its the Edgar Winter GROUP!!!! love this band.

  • 1:03-1:10 check out the guitarist's face.

    I lol'd

  • does anyone think the guitarist looks like igor from frankenstein at 1:09 lol

  • thumbs up for the pedophile host at the end

  • @epicranger2 Whispering Bob is awesome how dare you call him that, disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself and all the idiots who liked it too.

  • @Nellynoodlebums ssssshhhhh

  • @epicranger2 pffft

  • @epicranger2 LOL @ Pedophile host.

  • Keyboard + synth + sax + drums + 4 inch platform shoes = epic mindbender!!

  • god damn i couldnt imagine carrying around a keyboard an entire show..

  • AMAZING! NO SHIT!!! Thanks for posting

  • Saw him live at the Cliffs Pavilion Southend in 2005 and he was awesome... Frankenstein was the highlight of a pretty damn sensational set.

  • Amazing

  • Classic Rock at it's FINEST!

  • 3:50 - 5:07 is the most epic thing ive ever seen anyone ever do in the history of ever

  • He is an extra terrestrial being sent to teach earthlings how to rock.

  • epicness in pure state

  • i love the sound effects at 7:16 it sounds so techno and retro

  • Did Someone say Deathstar @ 5:08

  • "amazing"

  • LOLOL 9:16

  • I want that synth sound to come from my guitar

  • Wow! I never realised Jimmy Saville was so talented!

  • Bass is gettin it

  • When I listen to this, I black out and come too in the weirdest places. So I set up a video camera to see what happens, and for the entire song I am walking around with my arms stretched in front of me and a blank look on my face.

  • @jff0002 Just a normal day for you then......lol

  • that synth is phat as hell

  • dude, maybe some pot with this and you trip balls really bad. lol

  • Lol @ rushpython..so true :-)

  • 9:17 - 9:19 was THE BEST PART! LOL!

  • holy fuck man... seriously i think this video just blew my mind

  • @antileet I remember my buddies and me playing this in his basement, til his mom screamed at us that we were all going to Hell! LOL.

  • Dude! That bass is so sweet!

  • who could dislike THIS?

    oh, i know the answer:

    Justin Bieber fans:(

  • Just wow.. Love it since a kid.. COOL!!!

  • 1:41 ?

  • frodo i found legolas

  • FANTASTIC!

  • FANTASTIC

  • I love the drummer, his facial expressions are hilarious

  • 1:58 made me lol so hard.

  • How can anybody in their right mind vote this down?

  • Actually his 1st generation synth is ANALOG, not computer generated.

Every techno geek and electronic musician should get down on their knees and pray/worship to what was done with ANALOG synths back in the day: Edgar Winter, Stevie Wonder, Early Kraftwerk analog synth (later stuff wasnt analog) and NUMMEROUS OTHER pioneers, in the days before you were even born or saw your first casio keyboard. So in perspective, yes, techno is shitty in comparison to this

  • @FlipMyWig Thank You I agree.

  • 2:05

    fucking sax out of nowhere.

  • Omg!! is this REAL?

  • Omg!! Is this REAL?

  • "Amazing."

  • I love that pedo looking guy at the end! "Amazing!" LOL

  • @ Drumguy1988 I cannot believe todays music and how anyone could enjoy it. The only good music still being produced today is alternative rock because its upbeat and uses a good balance of instruments that need talent to play. I recognize that because i play sax and guitar. I mean honestly. Ke$ha's Tik Tok is a song about getting drunk and being arrested yet the single is most grossing female song in history. Unbelievable. These songs (ex. Freebird, and this song- frankenstein) dont even need W

  • @terrabowser765

I think there's also some good song from other genres, at least metal. If you're into heavy stuff, I'd say Mastodon, Opeth and Arch-Enemy are very good bands.

But if we're talking about pop, I agree, most is rubbish. And the lyrics are 90% about going out, getting laid/drunk/high... depressing.

  • Rick Derringer on Guitar?

  • @GarJaMi yeah Derringer on guitar

  • i do not understand how this could get 6 dislikes, it doesn't make sense :S

  • GODS!!!!

  • Man, I miss music.

  • this is a song i would choose to show people in the past what rock and roll is all about.

  • this version is so much better than the more popular one. the A/V is actually synched up.

  • the drum/percussion dual always wipes me out , as bob says `amazing`.,,its more amazing than amazing!...

  • Lol what drums?

  • Alien hybrids.

  • Chuck Ruff on the drumkit....amazing! I saw him playing with Sammy Hagar in '77. I believe Dan Hartman, the bass player, passed away years ago. Maybe someone can chime in and let me know if in fact that's true???!!!

  • @TheMiamirocker yeah he did he had AIDS and was gay (not that that matters)

  • Wow. Music written by emotion and artistic exploration, not written by boob jobs (not that there's anything wrong with those!!!), corporate meetings, and sales.

Zappa saw the demise of music coming. The result is we lost great stuff like this. No wonder many kids today seek the music of yesteryear.

  • @jtomasik theres still a bunch of badass new material, you just have to look around hard enough. all of the good stuff is REALLY underground
