  • i can tell my grandma is the nicest because she got this game for me and three other atari 2600 games demon attack, defender and phoenix :D

  • I think I played this game at some point. One thing I can say is that I really love the art on 2600 cartridges, this one in particular has a nice epic feel to it.

  • Not a bad game but its not way better than galaxian.

  • I grew up on these games. I wish my kids could grow up on these games too. :( but I know it will never happen

  • I have know idea why my friend thinks I should like...this more than DoDonPachi and Raiden just because it came first. So stupid to me.

  • Funny I always confused Galaxian and Galaga too. I always for some reason thought Galaxian was the sequel to Galaga. Not the other way around.

  • Galaxian and Galaga are awesome classics : ) play them a lot

  • The galaga on xbox live is so not a galaga game it looks nothing like the arcade but the arcade is related to this as mark said

  • To me the ship resembles the USS Enterprise (at least in the arcade) and the sequel Galaga has ships like the X-Wing.

  • I'm CHEWLAXIAN, bitches!

  • I've played Galaxian on Arcade, Atari and so forth, but it is not one of my favorites.

  • I have Galaxian for my old NES.

  • Not only are they friends, they got married, had a family and are now expecting their first grandchild, who will probably be a freeware or shareware or wiiware game or something. LOL.

  • Atari did a good job with 2600 Galaxian. The 5200/8-bit version is good, and ColecoVision had a great port. I grew up on the awful Commodore 64 version (how the hell can you screw up Galaxian?).

  • galaga is actually a sequel to galaxian. its in the same series of games, made by the same people at namco

  • the thing idon't kike about this port is look at the background! it looks like your ina warehouse rather than in the middlle of space what the hells that broder for and where are the white dots for stars and stuff

  • it looks like a giant crossbow rather than a cannon....

  • Dam. Every time i watch mark play a game, i wanna play the game. Stuff it im of to play gal............

  • He's selling a flippant culture on its own failiure to care. The thing wont let me spell "failiure" like I thought it would be spelled.

  • Where can i find an atari 2600?

  • @luvmelikeudo714 ebay amazon craigslist or a second hand game store

  • I still play this great classic today on the atari 2600 and mame

  • i love galaxian on the nes

  • @FingersMadness do u mean galaga

  • you know

if you press reset and turn on the power

you can fire 2 at a time

  • @stunycrew246 That's space invaders.

  • @Bittergamer1886 might work for this game

  • @stunycrew246 No, to my knowledge, this "trick" only works for Space Invaders.

  • Galaxian is still one of my favorite arcade games.

  • Excellent review. Seeing this video brings back memories. Though I have this downloaded from PS ntwrk, I think the faster game play and cooler sounds makes the Atari version better. (graphics aside)

  • space invaders and galaxian and other games like that are kinda like early versions of shmups

  • >_> Did you also teach your grandmother how to boil eggs?

  • it may be obvious but i was just pointing something out...

  • You talk about Galaga on 2600? Too bad it was canceled... 7800 version was made (looks pretty sexy, too) but no 2600.

Oh well, this is a suitable alternative,a nd one I need to get for my collection. :)

  • Well, ok, so in my rom library there IS a 2600 game called "GALAGA" but it is just basically River Raid.

Maybe that game was being used as the basis for the Galaga 2600 version? Iuno.

  • i have this for my 2600 i love this game!!!

  • An okay spin off of GORF.

  • this game came out 2 or 3 years before gorf on arcade

  • Galaga and Galaxian deserve to sit next to one another. Because, Galaga is the sequel. Just like with Ms. Pac-Man, the upgrade ideas used has allowed the sequels to age far better then the originals.

Both series also share another fate. They both had multiple sequels past the second,,,that ended up as utter failures. (Galaga 3/Galaga '95 AND Jr. Pac-Man/Baby Pac-Man/Professor Pac-Man...the list goes on.)

  • yea lol it feels like forever to shoot another missle

  • i have the game in box in suburb condition

  • Never saw this one back in the day when I had my own 2600. I missed out. VERY nice rendition.

  • I love that classic 1930's footage of the Atari 2600 and XBOX 360. ^^

  • as if space invaders jacked off in a cup and poured it own galigas vagina! such a good game!

  • I think you need to get out a little bit. :P

  • THIS. IS. BEAUTIFUL. :D Holy crap, this is a beautiful port of Galaxian :D

  • Was just playing this today great game for the 2600 i actually enjoy this version over the arcade one oddly lol.

  • It looks more like Galaga because of the size and shape of the enemies.

In Galaxian they were much smaller that the Galaga enemies.

  • Galaxian has some sweet sounds.

  • This game came with my 2600, and as a result was my first ever video game, awesome.

  • What an awesome conversion for the 2600.

  • Best theme tune ever!

  • AH the memories...

  • Wow I remember this. This brings back childhood memories of hours and hours of game play.

  • COOL

  • loloololololooolololololololol

  • YOUR AWSOME !!!!!

  • cool

  • I thought this was a pretty good game for Atari 2600.

  • The sound effects in this game are so lovely.

  • YES! The nerds of the eighties were firm but fair!

    (One shot ONLY!) hahaha

  • I think it's worth mentioning for the 5 people who don't know, Galaxian is a sequel to Galaga.

    Damn I'm old...;)

  • Galaxian came before Galaga.

  • Oops! I always get those reversed.

  • Galaga > Galaxian

  • Of course Galaga and Galaxian are friends.

  • My dad was dead set against me having video games. Xmas 1988 my mom got me an Atari 2600. 3 months later, I purchased this game. I liked it and played it a good amount. Well, one afternoon, I asked my dad if he would care to play. This was about at 1:00 PM. Guess who was still playing at 4:00 in the morning? And my dad thought I had a video game addiction.

  • Atari 2600 was good times. I remember when I first played my uncle's Atari 2600 and a copy of pitfall. I sucked at it but it was still fun.

  • Lol

  • cool

  • I love this game!!! It is sooo addict!

I have this one, space invaders, defender and etc.

I think I make to level 20 not much more.

  • In fact I think Galaga is just a little, much less sophisticated clone of Galaxian, but I may be wrong.

Anyway, Galaxian basically is based on Space Invaders, but improving the gameplay a lot (and also making it MUCH harder... OMG)

  • Actualy, Galaga is the first sequel that galaxian had. So not a clone.

  • Galaxian on the Atari 800 had MUCH better graphics...

How the hell you could mix it up with Galaga? The gameplay is the same, but Galaga doesn't even have color!

  • Galaga is actually the sequel to Galaxian.

Galaga is really just a fast paced, enhanced version of galaxian.

    =]

  • I had Galaxian for my Xbox recently actually, it was on one of those retro arcade packs. It looked really sweet and trippy on a HD tv with all the bright colors and such. I could stare at it for hours. I loved it.

  • Galaga was never made for the Atari 2600 earthling.

  • the only "Galaga" ever made for the Atari 2600 was a "River Raid" clone... a far cry from the actual game "Galaga"

  • Yea, that and um.. Galaga..

  • um, no. actually Galaga the arcade game was never ported to Atari 2600.

  • O yea, I think ur right, I was thinking of the 7800 one.. which just looked crappy enough to be on the 2600

  • Haven't you saw other episodes of the Classic Game Room? He loves the Atari 2600!!!

  • @Axelander9999 BECUASE POOR LITERACY IS KEWL!

  • I bought this game in 1986 and was my last atari game but was great I still play with it

  • i gotta get this off ebay used to own it back in the day

  • COOL

  • I liked this game a lot more then Space Invaders. Much more exciting and it seemed more fair. I can't compare it to Galaga because I don't think I played it as a kid. I remember liking the box art for Galaxian as well, because the ships on the art actually resemble the ships in the game.

  • will you be doing a GALAXIAN arcade port review? and what company of video do you like the most Sega, Nintendo, I.D software or Midway.

because I am huge fan of Mortal Kombat 1 the arcade port. and not the censored port of mortal kombat on the S.N.E.S.

  • Who can say what goodies the future may bring... -mark

  • @mario123dude You forgot the oldest and best atari.

  • @Luigi84289

    It's not the oldest console.

  • @TwigsInc I meant success wise and being able to play multiple games on one machine. Pong and the odyssey along with the fairchild are older but nobody knows about them today. I was a little high and didn't specify enough.

  • @Luigi84289 Happens to the best of us.

  • How many games do you have on all the consoles?

So far, you have shown some impressive rarities.. you should do a video showing us your game collection.

  • cool
