  • One teensy little thing I need to say though a little wish fullfillment never hurts, and it's even one of the best things in some series, but it shouldn't completely override actual characterization.

  • Omg you are SOOOOOOOOOO right about real character development being hard! I'm planning to put my character through PTSD and it's HARD trying tp perfect it all.

  • girl, quit that. you are not tinkerbell.

  • @PotawatomiApiwa Made my day.

  • Bella is what humanity should strike for?!

Sorry... I threw up a bit in my mouth just now.

  • PIKACHU!!!! OMG!

  • whats this video for the sparkypoo, bitchy witch, tootsey tramp, and cannon rape called exactly?

  • Tinkerbell wants her pixie dust back! (>_<)

    LOL XD

    Nice rant

  • Thanks for those great links!

  • i like your yab-videos very much, but since i am foreign i always understand sparkling foo--- what are you really saying?

  • would it be okay to self insert people you know and yourself in your story, only to just make fools out of everyone.

  • For any story to work, you have to have a theme. A "theme" is like a lesson, or the purpose for which the story was written (in parodies, I suppose you could say the theme is whatever the parody pokes fun at). "Love Conquers All," "Believe in Yourself," and "Follow Your Heart" are not themes, so that is one HUGE reason that Twilight fails from the get-go.

  • SparkleCat!

  • Twilight needs Children's Card Games in it. Oh and Super Saiyans.

    Super Saiyans makes everything better!

  • is there cat behind her? watch from 4:00 on and you'll see something moving behind her left shoulder.

  • Maybe it's just me, but I don't think making fun of girl's stories, however bad they may be, is okay. I got made fun of for my stories that I wrote when I was 14. Yes, they were not well written, but I didn't deserve to have people tearing what I wrote apart. Being criticized is something I can take, but not being made fun of. Some people just forget they're humanity and forget that the people they are making fun of are really people, kids sometimes.

  • "...and canonrape."

    *facepalm*

  • I'd like to see what would happen if I rolled a grenade into Sparkly-Poo. Do you think I'd be arrested?

  • no.... :D

  • i agree with you about why growing with a character is hard for the writer & the reader & the other stuff you said about it - absolutely true.

but it mustnt be that characters who don't grow are boring. look at hamlet, hes the same in the end - the difference: hes not perfect & has never been. other than that its maybe a part of his "downfall" that he didnt learn & change or tried to fit in (which isnt wrong but eventually it lead to his death).

    but hamlet is interesting!

    ps: love your vids

  • And each one VERY school appropriate.

  • perfection is boring ^_^, I noticed that a lot now this days when i write, but twilight has just perfection in everything that made me dislike the series even more, you're right, everyone wants to be perfect yet they lack to realize that "perfection" is actually a mark which represents a limit and can't change anymore......making it useless....another reason why books like this are simply stupid by supporting perfection

  • Indeed, My immortal is what would happen if Twilight, Harry Potter, satanism, and "goffik-ism" all became one.

  • Have you read "My Immortal"? Gosh, that's an awful Harry Potter fan fiction right there.

  • I wonder what house Enoby would be placed in, or would they have to clone her to level out the SUCK?

  • @XXXKingofSorrow

Obviously, she would be the headmistress.

  • Did anyone else notice the sparkly cat behind her?

  • lol SparkleCat

Speaking of Sparklypoo I'm so embarrassed. I wanted to insert my character into the HP universe through roleplay but keep her individuality as someone from the non-HP world. A lot of things from that short comic were in there. I guess my defense was I was 13-14 and honestly had no idea what a Mary-Sue was or that my character was repetitive.

So it was more of a crossover than anything. But at least I tried to explain why my character was the way she was... I guess. XD

  • @twilightguardian I believe every writer Sues at one point. I sure did... And I left it on fanfiction-dot-net as a reminder that I've improved.

  • @shmeiliarockie

My friend has a Gary-Stu right now. It's funny because he didn't start out that way. He Stu-ified the longer she had him. I called her out on that.

  • that sparkling annoyed me sooooo much!

  • Lol, I love the sparkling. Mary Sues- why I don't read Harry Potter fan fiction with OCs.

  • Perfection isn`t real.

Don`t believe me? Discover it yourself, the hard way.

  • You're sparkiling!! *gets dazzled and dies*

  • You're cat always comes in your videos, this time he/she sparkles! Oh noes, its a Meyerpire! *runs away*

  • I love the effects. ^_^ And I still agree with you, about how shallow they are.

  • is there a place, like a forum or something along those lines, that a writer can go and see if his or her character is a mary-sue or a gary-sue? I'm a fanfiction writer thats worried about that. I try my best not to make my character look or sound mary sue ish. I would love to talk about it with people.

  • There are tests on the internet. Just google "Mary Sue Litmus Test."

  • the Litmus test is kind of a bad idea. It may give you a bit of insight but you really have to have a handle on what makes a Sue. You can get a 'nonsue' or even 'antisue' score on it and still have your character be one.

  • Agreed I find it more informative to go over a list of Mary-Sue traits than any of the tests I've taken. Sometimes good characters have what might be considered Mary-Sue traits but if you actually know what you're doing it shouldn't be a problem as the work progresses.

  • Ok... in a odd way I can agree with "Encounter and eventually overcome with their uglist parts of themselves." If the true meaining were to come true, it means "face your darkest fears and weakness and overcome them." If a person s alcholic, their plot would be them trying to fight the reason and addiction of their drinking and be a better person.

However, Meyer's failure at storytelling simply states that "Beauty is only skin deep" and that ugly ppl should be isolated. AKA: The Stepmother

  • Your cat sparkles, too? :( Poor thing.

  • omg... your cat's a sparkly meyerpire too!!!

  • Yes it does sicken me as to how she destroyed vampires. However, I can understand what Meyer is trying to say with them. She's trying to say that they are like marble statues, trapped in the form they were turned in. But, I think she could've worded it better than "They sparkled like diamonds." I mean, for god's sake Meyer, learn to write!

  • I meant to thumbs up that, sorry my hand slipped. Well said though.

  • "Ha ha: they're exactly the same at the start of the story; as they are at the end of the story..." WELL, that'd because they're vampires! LOL ^_^ Seriously though, I liked the story...but Renesme PISSED ME OFF! Is it just me, or does anyone who touch Renesme come to love her?? She's SOOO perfect! (I hate her; the Volturi should have destroyed her, the stupid mom (Bella for being a hopeless pushover) and Edward...just for being him. I don't want to be Bella; I like being sane, thanks. :) 5 stars

  • Yes, until Breaking Dawn came along, I hated Bella the most, but when Renesmee was born I hated her.

    "I love you Momma"

    AWW???

I think it was a cute-factor. Even Bella's child loves her. But Meyer should know as well as anyone that raising children is not like that.

Me, I hate Renesmee because she's perfect, she has no personality besides BEING perfect, and she was just a way for Meyer to pawn off Jacob.

Poor Jacob... Bella doesn't deserve him anyway.

  • I AGREE about renesmee. i mean, what's with her name?

  • I think her name was supposed to be some sort of "literary device" to the effect that Special characters have Special names. Personally I think Bella aka "Beautiful Swan" (another special name) could have named her child something more normal... like Mary-Sue.

    HAHAHA I'm sooo funny... not.

  • I believe it originates from a Mormon tradition where the mother and father of the child take the names of a parental figure form the each of their own families. Renee + Esme = Renesmee and Carlisle + Charlie = Carlie (<-- her middle name)

  • Awesomness, and I now know what to avoid when creating a character, thank you!

  • The .. the sparkles just make me want to douse you with fire. For some strange reason I'm not sure of..

But other than that, I love listening to your essays. They are very well thought out and put together, and hit on a number of valid points.

  • Perfection becomes quite boring after awhile. I mean, ppl stop liking Barney because they want to see violence and sex. A perfect world becomes boring with all the peacefulness that there's no action or conflict.

  • LOL sparkly cat. :3

  • Very eloquently put. Thank you.

  • Can you suggest some good reads? Books? Fan Fics? Fiction writing online?

I would really like to hear what you enjoy!

    xoxo

    -B-

  • Actually, though, although Bella is a Mary Sue, she and Edward do, in fact, have flaws: Bella is an arrogant, selfish, whiny bitch and Edward is an abusive, self-important stalker. The problem here is that although the reader notices them, the characters don't. Perhaps the story would've been better if Meyer had actually taken the time to develop the above-mentioned flaws rather than pretending they don't exist....

  • but the point is, if these characters have flaws, such flaws have to be detrimental to the character and thus make way for character development. thus, the flaws that you mentioned don't count; there is no character devt within Twilight, and yes, you're right: Meyer sort of pretended they don't exist. she threw them in but they have no significance to the plot in a way that it provokes character development.

  • @slaughterersrock Oh so I'm not crazy in thinking that everyone who sees them as "utterly perfect" is being naive since Bella and Edward are ridled with flaws that make me sick to my stomach... My problem with that is the flaws aren't addressed, but hey you just explained why which makes me even more ill.

  • @slaughterersrock

you also forgot to metion shallow.

  • @slaughterersrock You just stated exactly what I thought when I read "Twilight." It irritated me that Bella and Edward's flaws weren't addressed, and overcome, as it would've made them more compelling as characters, and would've added more to the story and would have given it a plot.

  • Wow... how did you do the sparkles? That looks so cool!

  • ::closes eyes least the sparkling distracts::

  • You and your goddamn sparkles! It's making my ADHD go off big time! xDDD I can't pay attention, I'm too busy looking at the sparkles!

    ZOMG! SHINY!

  • Bagging on an author who validates a dangerous and naive way of thinking, which inevitably poisons young girls and makes them INCREDIBLY easy for high school boys to take advantage of. The book is not good. There are far superior books to "Twilight". And all of the ones that ARE superior do not contain "Mary Sues". Why? Mary Sues are boring. They don't grow, they don't change, they're perfect as they are and that gets old. Plus, Twilight has zero conflict within it. That's poor writing.

  • I agree.

It is seriously worrying the message Twilight is sending to teenage girls, basically "It doesn't matter if your boyfriend emotionally, mentally and physically abuses you, he does it because because he LOVES you remeber? And also he's totally hot so it doesn't matter how he treats you,"

Twilight is disturbing in so many ways

  • I totally agree! I'm all for fluffy teen romance novels, but the fact that Edward (and Jacob!) are both overly-controlling and abusive is just too much! I'm not a huge feminist or anything, but I feel like SM is trying to set back woman's rights to the 1700s or something

  • lmao XD the cats a Meyerpire too :P

  • sparkling...oohh scary.

"Oh no, it's a vampire, don't kill me!!"

*jumps out into sunlight* "I want to suck your blood!!"

    "No, please--wait. ARE YOU SPARKLING?!?"

I'd die from laughing rather than blood loss.

  • You look nice with your hair in braids. :)

    Uglies. xD!

I wish they friggin' would change! At least once! D:<

  • Not really. She is her own biggest fan, after all.

  • well, maybe, but what happened to bashing all of the twihards? they drive me nuts.

  • Haha, you are made of genius.

  • lol at sparkly cat.

Also, I'm loving your series. Very invigorating.

  • xD!

The sparkles distracted the shit outta me!

I heard everything you said but the sparkles were just...holy shit!

    xD!

    I love your videos.

    Their absolutely amazing!

  • Then they did their job. *wink*

  • You got me to reread Harry Potter, since I realized that the complexities went over my Elementary Schooler mind.

:) Thank you! I'm on the second one and I started rereading them yesterday. Forgot how good they were.

I also forgot how awesome J.K Rowling is to her fans.

  • She is very respectful of her fans, unlike a certain Sparklypoo author. (Buy my guide, indeed!)

  • Yes...Meyer wishes to milk the fans of all their worth before some of them *hopefully* realise how awful this woman is and stops supporting her.

    Ahh...'tis but a dream.

  • Vampire and sparkles. Two things that should never cross paths.

  • But they DID, and it was horrible. Not even the awesome kind of horrible, just the regular kind.

  • i'm all for changing things up in any fantasy novel. thats how original & fresh storys are created.

sunlight doesn't kill or harm them? ok

    no fangs? ok

    animal blood? ok

    don't sleep? ok

not unholy creatures of the damned? ok

unnaturally beautiful? sometimes ok. (it better have a good explanation-twilight does not)

no weakness's? what? even superman had krytonite.

    sparkles??? WTF

hmm, maybe meyerpires are blood drinking kryptonians that tragically lost their ability to fly.

  • lolll.

i mean what possesed (sp?) meyers to come up with sparkling vampires.

    *throws up*

what ever happend to scary as fuck vampires, I couldn't see Lestat sparkling could you?

  • sparkling lestat? . . .did anyone else get a mental image of a glittering tom cruise? ha ha!

oh, how about the tom cruise from tropic thunder!

creepy, i'm going to have nightmares tonight.

  • Hahaha not intimidating at all.

Vampires can be sexy but that doesn't mean sparkleyyy

  • That 'no weaknesses' thing really pisses me off, as well.

And the sparkle thing is, yeah, just nonsense.

  • I love your videos!!! I think you've even made me into a better writer, haha.

  • I hope I have! I know I have become a better author for doing this. It has helped me understand my own novel more completely.

  • Your YAB playlist is simply fabulous. i must subscribe. btw, the sparkles made me a very happy person. hilarious!

  • Glad to be of service!

  • The sparkling effect was hilarious, I loved it =) closest to sparkling I could get in my anti-Twilight video was having the lights shining behind me <_<

  • I was lucky. It was just there waiting to be used!

  • Was that Romi in the end? She was sparkling too! XD

  • Yes, it was! ^__^

  • OMG!!!! Are you a vampire?! YOU SPARKLE!!!!

  • I am indeed.

  • damn someone beat me to it, I was gonna point out 'OH HAY UR CAT IZ A MEYERPIRE 2 MAN' I can't wait for the next one.

  • if i was a vampire and if i had to chose about sparceling in the sun light or blow up in ashes.. i would pick blow up in ashes man

  • I know, me too. That's a much more dignified.

  • yeah i know im happy you agree with me

  • You seem pretty smart. I was entertained while watching this video. It all makes great sense. Keep up the good work!

  • great points!

lol, your kitty's tail sparkles :3

  • I love the glittering effect. Great video! :D

  • Great installment.

Sparkly kitty! That was amazing. XD

  • *Applauds*

  • Glitter effects WAY better than in the movie. WIN

  • Thank you. I found them in my webcam preset menus and it made me very happy. I was so disappointed with the movie's effects!

  • Haha, I love the sparkles, although they got a wee bit dizzying at the end.

  • It's supposed to be a bit overwhelming, to make up for my lack of epic video this time around.

  • Well, you did a good job with them. Much better than the movie.

  • You DAZZLE me! XD

And of course, nice video as always. :)

  • As if you could outrun me, as if you could fight me off!

  • Loved it! Great Job! :D

  • Thankee!

  • lol Meyerpire XD

  • It's what I imagined they looked like.

  • Awesome
