Well said, and ('been THE SOUNDTRACK TO MY LIFE for 20 years or more') has mirror reflections of Shane's amazing lyrics, well said indeed. Though his life may make "hankbutcher" sad it certainly doesn't stop his friends from LOVING him, there isn't one that has refused to perform with him, they seek to do this. So, enjoy him, he's happy in every interview seen and like his lifestyle or not he's more functional and has accomplished more than many a sober folk.
