I am Armenian myself and am very proud of my heritage. That said, Vanes has absolutely no chance in Light Middleweight division.
I shall explain why:
First and foremost; Saul Alvarez will fold Vanes into four and then would drop him before the 5th round. I am sure Vanes is a "good fighter" in his own right but when you have fighters like Alvarez in your division, things are very very limited.
Do I have to mention Miguel Cotto or even Paul Williams?
@BarnettLevon I'm half Armenian and I can say I honestly believe Vanes will be #1 at 154 some day.
Alvarez: Remember, Vanes' training with Roach, Pacquiao, Khan and Chavez. He's getting better eveyday. Roach's fighters have a funny way of winning when they're the underdog.
Kirkland: Scary guy, but the Japanesse boxer proved he can be beaten if you don't fear him; think of him as a 154 Tyson.
Williams: This guy is finished.
Cotto: He's looking for the highest ppv name he can get, no
@crowley0312 I am glad that you are such an aspiring boxing enthusiast. You may be correct that Vanes may become a World Champion some day and that may be because the sport of boxing has been deemed worthless and also because everyone else before him has become a champion. It doesn't mean anything to be a champion. There are three divisions for crying out loud. All you need a promoter...
Even with all the backing, I've seen Vanes box in person and I threw up in my mouth.
@BarnettLevon Are you just jumping on the "boxing is dead" bandwagon? You know 'fans' have been complaining about the sport dying for the past 100 years or so, right? To say it doesn't mean anything to be a champion is crazy.
I don't think Vanes is that good right now. But he's better than Canelo, who doesn't live up to his height.
I have complete faith Roach will turn Vanes into a great fighter, as he did with Manny, Amir and many others.
@HeeRoiiK08 If you are seeking an Armenian boxer who deserves the title of "Hay Power" why not try Vic Darchinyan; far better boxer and far more exciting. Yes he lacks the defensive discipline yet he is an EXCITABLE fighter; knockout power; deadly left hand!
If you care to learn more about boxing and true power, why not look into Edwin Valero; perhaps the best talent to not reach maturation.
@Kinetik121 First of all, there isn't a single boxer who is deemed "the greatest" while they are still active. I understand your emotional discharge but don't make yourself look like a fool when you make comments of that nature.

@BarnettLevon (cont.)one else. He's probably retiring after Mayweather.
What's most promising about Vanes is his amateur career. Beat Berto, Trout three times and Bradley twice.
I also think Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. predicting Vanes to be a world champion someday after watching him spar with his son is something special.
