I used to know Fred Berry personally. He moved into my apartment complex in Lancaster, California in 1990. I was shocked & partially star struck & mainly wondered why someone of his popularity & notoriety would move into a less than $1,000 dollar a month apartment complex. Apparently he was going broke & lost all his millions on drugs , alcohol , women, houses & cars & divorce. he was really cool to know. His wife Carol was polite & his kids too. A very charming family he had.. So sad he died.

@heisgreatly2bpraised You are correct. His name is Theodore Wilson, and he's also known for his role as Sweet Daddy Williams on "Good Times". Wilson was a very funny character actor, and the dialogue in this episode between him and Shirley was brilliant. This is just great comedy. Wilson should have been given more air time on both shows or given his own show.

The Sanford Arms was a spin off to Sanford and Son, but the ratings may not have been what they wanted. Both Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson wanted more money.  Actually, Foxx would get his own variety show. .
