The ones I use are already made. There are some Sci-Fi 3d websites to download the meshes from. You will need Lightwave 7.0 or better and a lot of time and patience. This took several hours to animate.

Nice work on the droids man! So you actually made those droids on lightwave? I'm trying to find and learn ways to actually modelling my own 3D droid and so far I've only found the application; 3DS MAX & Poser. You think any of these would work the same way you did? I was planning on using them in my next video.

A lot of people like using 3DS MAX. I don't care for it too much. The good thing about Poser is, it is specifically designed for animating characters. I have not used it that much, but it is a pretty cool proggy. I did not actually model these. Sadly, I am not good at modelling yet. These were already boned when I downloaded them so, it was just a matter of animating, which was a pain in itself. Good luck with your project and send me the link when it's finished. I wanna check it out :)

I took some time and patience. One of the things I had to do was make a quick and dirty wooden dummy. I push the dummy over and timed how long it would take to fall. Then I pushed the dummy with the same amount of force that I think would have been exerted on the droid witht the hits and timed that. From there, I just had to animate with those time parameters. It was tedious, anyone interested in or that are doing animation knows that this is a slow and tedious process. Good luck.

Well, I could, but the source video was not good because of the camera I used. It would look strange for the rest of the picture to be bad and the droids look super good. This was only a test and to also make the droids look perfect, rendering time would have taken forever. This video has been on here for a while now, I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be working on a new one soon. Thanks for your comment! :)

where did you get the program for the droids???

I mentioned it in the description. It is Lightwave 8.0 by a company called Newtek. Lightwave is not a cheap program and it is difficult to learn to use. if you can acquire it, you can do some pretty great things with it. The battledroids themselves, I downloaded from a site that has 3d models. These had to be animated in Lightwave and it took a great deal of time. Good luck!

Yeah, that was changed. Before, it was him just standing there waiting for his fatal blow. I thought this would add some comedic value to it by making him throw his arms up to surrender.

12 hours to design the animation. The actual rendering didn't take long at all. With the antialiasing set to medium and radiosity off, it only took about 15 minutes for the whole 300 frame sequence.

Unfortunately, I did not bone these myself. I am still new to Lightwave and have not tried my hand at modeling yet.

hehe yeah i'm still learning myself, theres a gazillion options. you can see a few boning attempts in my videos some horribly failed hehe but i'm getting the hang of it.
