  • Great tune-thanks

  • Ronnie Dove is dying from Aids.

  • Ronnie Dove had about twenty great singles in a row. This one came at about the mid-point of his streak and is right up there with the best of them. If you like Happy Summer Days, then you might want to investigate Kiss Away, A Little Bit Of Heaven, My Babe, When Liking Turns To Loving and his best one, Hello Pretty Girl. Great stuff!

  • @MikeBlitzMag Ronnie Dove is dying of Aids.

  • nice stereo mix!

  • what a great summertime song - brings back such great memories :)

  • why do i always read this gross crap on every ronnie dove song?

  • @cmf43211 oh watch out this guy is a badass on the internet. shut your punk mouth up okay thanks.

  • What are all these rumours about Ronnie being gay. I can understand why this site but it's all made up unless there is something more official to go by then comments made. This is an ongoing problem with Justin Bieber, The Backstreet Boys etc, even Eminem has been rumoured to be on occasion & he gets a trillion comments aimed his way. Ronnie Dove is an artist like Tab Hunter, but Tab being a homo isn't a rumour. I sent u comment a while back now & I still hold to my word! Thx

  • Judging by this song and others I've heard by Ronnie, it's obvious that he has far more class and heart than most of us could ever hope to have. I really like this song, and I'm glad my parents played it for me.

  • @Theflyinhawaiian2000 Nicely expressed! I agree with you and I appreciate your comment, my friend!

  • Last time I heard this song was over 40 years ago. So happy I found it. Brings back such great memories when I was young. I love it.

  • @57Rhon That makes two of us. Thank you very much for your comment, my friend!

  • Where is Ronnie from anyhow? The reason I ask is that he has this cute little cracker accent that sounds kind of southern but not deep south. Does anyone remember the program Green Acres? There was a character named Mr. Hainey with this whiney twang, and when Ronnie sings "Look around you there's a rainbow in that watermelon sky" he sounds just like Mr. Hainey. I am not mocking him, I just find his accent cute!

  • @Valteron8 Ronnie Dove is from Baltimore, Maryland and has a night club there.

  • @yourdickis2limp I mean this as kindly as possible. You keep making comments (under different names) about gay sex. Have you ever considered that you may be a repressed gay person yourself? Your obsession with gays strongly suggests that. Your channel says you are 26. I am a gay man in his sixties and I was in the closet until I was 25! I found happiness by coming out. If you ARE gay, I urge you to find ways to accept yourself and be happy. Look up the "It gets better" Videos here on Youtube.

  • @yourdickis2limp Okay, I tried to help. Look, if you are just a bunch of teenage kids playing around on the internet, I can understand childish pranks. I was a kid once too! Have fun. But if you are really a 26-year-old with this bizarre fixation on gays and gay sex, then I urge you to get some kind of help, because you really exhibit all the signs of a repressed closet case. Please consider this conversation closed. I will not be replying further.

  • Sweet little song from the mid sixties, it did probably take guts to sing these lyrics! We could all use a little of that pure, simple attitude.. We are so smart and chic, and, in some ways totally lost today. Some whimsy mixed with common sense would be nice in this stuffy, techno-laden society we live in. Thanks for posting!

  • @2n918 Nicely expressed and I couldn't agree more. Thank you for your comment!

  • I especially love the lyrics. Who today would have the guts to write lines like "Look around you there's a rainsbow in that watermelon sky." ? Two days ago I was at our country home and there was a pink sky with a rainbow in it. I thought of this song, so today I looked it up on youtube.

  • @Valteron8 You would be hard-pressed to find more evocative lyrics. Thanks again for your comment!

  • Thank you for posting this song. I loved it in 1966 and I still love it. What is wrong with a song that has a bit of optimism and gratitude, and that is upbeat? We need more music like this and less mope music. And BTW, I don't care if Ronnie Dove is gay or straight. To those who think this is an issue. . . .GROW UP!

  • @Valteron8 I couldn't have said it any better. Thank you for your comment, my friend!

  • Great song- thanks for the posting

  • @rosebud7158 It's my pleasure. Thank you very much for your comment!

  • while i wasnt alive when this song was released...it has been played at my bank for years...and it brings back some great memories

  • @VMIGUY02 I'm glad this wonderful song resonates with you. Thank you for your comment, my friend!

  • ...the summer of 65-66 were...filled w/ ronnie dove...he was great...!

  • So true! Another Ronnie Dove favorite "A Little Bit of Heaven" was popular a year earlier in the summer of 1965. Songs like these remind us to stop the madness and smell the roses because the best things in life are free. Count your blessings. Be thankful for what you've got. Others have offered similar messages in their music but none did it better than Ronnie Dove! Thanks for your comment!

  • I saw him in 1966 at a night club in columbus,Indiana. He looked great and sounded just as good as his 45 records. great personality and enjoyed shaking hands and talking to him. tks for great memory coming back from your posting!

  • Thank you very much for sharing your memories of this talented singer!

  • Thanks for sharing that!

  • What great memories, I saw him a bunch of times in the Rocket Room in Washington, DC during the early sixities

  • Wish there were more like him today! Thanks for your comment!

  • very good post ..haven't heard it in a while.

  • "Happy Summer Days" reminds us that the best things in life are free. Thank you for your comment!

  • This is a wonderful Summer Song of yesteryear. Very Sad that it missed the Top 10 and is bypassed for oldies Summer Songs. This deserved to be in the Top 10 so many others would know this lost treasure. Oh, well.

Happy there are a few of us who remember this song. Thanx for the Post.

    Trader Jack

  • I never get tired of listeing to this song. Thanks for your comment, Trader Jack!

  • My sister and I saw Ronnie Dove at Fuzzy Davi swim club in Rosedale,MD in the mid sixties sometime. He was the first live recording star we ever saw. He sang 2 songs and left but it was the highlight of our summer vacation. He provied much musical pleasure to my mother for which I will always be grateful. He is a wonder singer and entertainer.

  • Ronnie Dove was a great singer and a very positive influence on our generation. Thanks for your comment!

  • Just a word more..."thankyou for posting this gem of a song"

  • Just a few more words. Thank you for your wonderful comment!

  • These lyrics are within this song....."when the morning sun promises another wonderful day and good fortune is all along the way"..... "every kiss will take us to a new world to explore bringing thrills we never knew before, when the one you love can show you what's behind that magic door"...."look around you theres a rainbow in that watermelon sky and the twinkling of a million fireflies, let your heart keep taking pictures that we'll share as years go by......What a bueatiful choice of words!!

  • More than any other song "Happy Summer Days" helps me remember the simple pleasures of summer vacation. No computers, no video games, no portable phones and pagers. Just me sitting alone high in a tree experiencing the sheer joy of being young and being free. My heart took many pictures.

  • Nearly three decades ago, a radio announcer from Baltimore, MD played this song for his Saturday special dealing with summer. But there was no mention until i searched it and found it. It was on WFBR-Am 1300.

  • Sounds like it has a touch of Banjo in there. Great. Thanks for posting from UK.

  • great song. Ronnie can sure sing

  • Haven't heard this one in a long time. Nice.
