the track is pretty low do you thnk they should raise the track higher so the planes can Taxi under them like we did with the People Mover Tracks at Phoenix Sky harbor 2:36
At one point a few years ago, there were flights that flew directly from SMF to YVR via Air Canada, but that is no longer the case. I hope SMF truly becomes an "International" airport instead of it only flying domestic and to Mexico.
Will there be a connection via light rail/commuter rail with the new Sacramento Railway Station to connect with the high speed trains? I see a train station in the first scene in front of the Terminal Building, but that's obviously not big enough for a high speed train.
@gibb1991 There is a plan (or has been for some time, for that matter) to connect SMF with Downtown Sacramento via a Light Rail line. My guess is that the line would connect with a future high-speed rail terminal.
Can't wait for the new terminal to open. Looks nice!! Just curious, are there any rumors as to what new service or airlines might serve SMF once the terminal opens?
lots of progress and growth coming to our region, definitely exciting stuff! should provide great commercial and residential growth as well as hotel, retail and tourist attractions
they should have put check point right at the peoplemover station before they take the train to the gate like they have at Orlando International airport.
this vid was proposed in 2007 and 3 year has past so its happening right now, and becide, were getting a monorail put in at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport right by us.
I worked on the design and yes British Airways Air France among other airlines are interested to serve SAC. So look forward to these new services. I am working on designing the Customs Hall as we speak
I fly annually from this airport. I am curious to see what this will look like up close when the construction is complete. There is a mini model of the new terminal A sitting by the Hawaiian Airlines check-in counter over in sac's terminal B.
They should. I also hope that SMF will expand to accomodate more international flights and large aircraft such as the 747-400 and A380. 747's can already land and takeoff there, but eventually for international passenger service they are going to need the infrastructure for that (more counters, luggage claims, customs, etc.).
first of all ive never seen a 747 at smf. only that airforce 1 that came couple times. sacramento will never have international flights to asia, europe,. a380 will never make its appearance at smf. and the 787 has a a chance but very low. airliners are starting to hate smf of their outrageous fees.
There is a cargo 747 that goes there. We've seen it at the private plane area. Also, a guy who I know who works at Cessna there confirms it. With the international potential, you gotta look 20 years down the road. Sooner or later, the Bay Area airports will be maxed out because of lack of expansion space. And I am sure that those fees can be negotiated.

When Central Terninal B is complete, what airlines will serve in that terminal? and what will happen to the old Terminal B?
