They use that in music, tv, etc so even if you arn't watching the TV and were out of the room, when ever you hear that blast of music YOU KNOW THE DOC IS APPEARING!

Most people dont know this, but many of the scenes in the film were loosely based on real events of the cannonball races. Yes, even the ambulance scene. When one of the cops that pulled it over in real life saw the movie, he called his partner and told him that they had been had. Anyone who likes this movie needs to read the book "Cannonball" by Brock Yates. Sometimes the truth really is stranger than fiction.
