Honestly, as much as I love the new direction Anette has brought to NW, I've always felt there's certain songs of Tarja's that she just shouldn't cover live, and I always thought this would be one of them... but damn, Anette really makes this her own. It almost sounds like a completely different song... where Tarja's version was full of sheer power in its style, Anette's take on it feels much more emotional... honestly not sure which I prefer, and this is one of my favourite NW songs ever.

Annet's voice is wonderful, a human voice, sweet and aggressive, more like Jesus is awesome but it's much more humane, it's as if it showed that everyone can sing a song of Nightwish Tarja and beyond and was really very cool good.
And none is better than another, and separated both are good, joints should be a knockout,

Wow, it's been almost a year since I last watched this vid, and people are still crying for Tarja! Let's face it. Tarja as a classical soprano (as she describes herself) is very AVERAGE at most. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of Anette as a singer either. They both work fine with the band. It's Nightwish that matters. Not Anette alone. Not Tarja alone. If you wanna worship Tarja, go somewhere else, not on a video of the BAND's concert.

Awesome! I do wish it was recorded with something better than your typical consumer camcorder though. They just don't do Nightwish, whether its Tarja or Anette, any justice. Still, Anette was incredible with this song, I think its her best Tarja Era song.
It took a a long time to warm for Anette, but now I actually prefer many of her interpretations to Tarja's. Now that she's no longer straining her voice in concerts, her singing sounds way more expressive and she seems to give more thought to lyrics than Tarja, who more often seemed to just flaunt with her ability to sing classically. And I really like Anette's bluesy/souly improvisation in this song, too:)
You haven't told me something that I already know, obviously there are more genres than classical, but as a classical singer Tarja is mediocre, her technique is absolutely undeveloped. Tarja is nowhere near to be a "good" classical singer. As a metal singer she was good because she had great material to work with, but even then her flaws were visible.

Read your previous "message" once again. You are POOR. Some people studied classical music, so I think they will be agree with me.... There isn't problem with Anette like NW-singer, BUT problem with her ANTI-singing technique. So wake up! Anette can sing other song in great way (songs like Amaranth etc.) She is very often out of tune in this song! (the same in song Ghost love score)
She has improved a lot BUT she is still in the middle of her long and painful journey!

I studied classical music for many years and I heard Tarja's singing. As a classical singer she's nothing special to downright awful.

Anette is in tune most of the time. Before you pretend to be a critic, disengage your head from Tarja's rear end first and clean your ears. Tarja is often off tune, she moans and groans live, she never could sing Wish I had an Angel, she murdered many of the classical song, yet you think she is brilliant?

Tarja is nowhere near to be a "good" classical singer. As a metal singer she was good because she had great material to work with, but even then her flaws were visible.
When you study classical singing, you usually study classical music with it, duh! Whether you agree with me or not does not effect my opinion.

I like Anette, it doesn't sound all so negative and tragedic, it's a little more beautiful & there's also much more entertainment.

"Her Voice is for Pop" "She has no power" etc. Yes, Tarja was freaking incredible, but Anette has proven to be a different, yet very capable vocalist for Nightwish. Its a shame what happened in 2005, but this is 2009, soon to be 2010. Drop the drama and either simply not buy DPP if you feel so strongly about the change, or get over it. Also, if you must keep bringing up 2005, leave Anette out of it. She had NOTHING to do with what happened in 2005.

Yup, that's exactly right: her voice IS for pop. She HAS no power.
In all fairness, Annette's not a ~bad~ singer, but her voice is entirely incapable of carrying the band that used to be Nightwish into the kind of territory it once explored.
Five years later, and "Nightwish" still now sounds very ... average. They really ought to have changed their name so people wouldn't mistakenly believe that what they are now could even be ~compared~ to what they once were.

he viewed him as a brother. A fan had cancer I believe and Nightwish was his favorite band. They were contacted about meeting him and he went to a concert and they stayed in touch. When he died they wrote the song in his memory. If I'm correct that's his voice on the song too.

This must have been shortly after they added it to their live set, because when they came to Dallas Nov. 2008, she totally OWNED this song.....and it is still one of my all time favorites along side Ghost Love Score.
This song just floors me emotionally when I blast it in my car or anywhere else.

Well in my opinion I just don't like it, she has a pretty good voice I must say, but I can't feel the song the way she sings, she needs to put more effort on it, but she is singing well. I like Tarja and Anette and I think that Tarja used her voice to make people feel something good or bad it depends on the song... When I listen to this song I like to feel some warm in my body, to feel tranquility. Anette and Tarja are amazing singers and I hope to listen more of them. It is just my opinion =)

Actually she was trained at a music conservatory in Sweden...and she was chosen out of thousands to be in Nw...plus she was in other bands, so I'm pretty sure she has some idea how to sing.
