  • Love the EMX but why cant Korg bring out a new groove box with the R3 synth engine and some of the ESXs sampling, instead of that damn monotribe 1 trick toy?

  • i love DETROITECHNO.

  • Greetings and some mad dancing from India! Thanks

  • yea bro loving it in england...nice beats...

  • HOUSE MUSIC IS A FEELIN YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN

    Detroit RIP

  • great slider solo

    5/5

"put your hands up for detroit." lol

  • when you do that lead/solo thing how do you get the Arpegiator from playing 16th notes?

  • IMO from 0:35-0:45ish is too "sharp/abrupt/harsh" after that its great. Just trying to be helpful for future tracks

  • I agree, doing the transition a bit slower would have been nice.

    but nice stuff overall.

  • wow this is really great!!!

    oldschool sounding detroit techno!

little bit krik smith/innercity stylo :P

well 5+ and on the favorite list!

  • u can do the same with a kaossalatot only differ is the kaoss is pocket size ................

  • no, the kaosilator is a synth module...you're talking about the Korg kaos pad mini.

  • lol, that mellow thing is fine!

  • Very well put together track my friend, fine tune.

  • WOOHOO! GO DETROIT!

...ya know somethin, i didnt even know that was a style of electronic music...

    thats pretty cool...

  • wow. thats dope.

  • How would you plug these two together to be able to freeze the sounds coming out of the Korg Electribe EMX-1?

    Midi cable I assume?

  • Nop... just use the loop program and it will loop itself the audio in different fractions

  • you can sync the two devices, but its not really worth it,and its kinda cofusing!

    what do you mean "freeze"?

  • When he stops the beat on the Kp3 and it does the same on the Electribe.

  • at 7:19 - 7:24 those.

  • yeah,i think i know what you mean...

basically, anythin you can think of,as regards effects and that, you can do it with the kp3 as seen in the vid.without even using a midi cable sync..

i was actually trying to sync the emx and kp3 earlier,(after watching this vid for like, the 10th time!) and the one thing that i got to like was that the emx can trigger the samples stored in sample banks A B C D in time to the music respectivley.

it was quite challenging however.but yeah, freeze on,its all there!

  • Ok cool cause this the exact same gear I plan on buying, I'm buying the Electribe EMX-1 in a couple weeks then when I can afford it im going to buy a used KP3 off ebay.

  • Yeah,id go for those two pieces of gear, they really compliment each other.i find after spending a long time making a pattern on the emx,i like to add loads of effects to my pattern with the kp3,its the icing on the cake pretty much!

Ive had my emx(bought second hand!) boyt 6 months and im really only getting to realise how powerfull it is..the longer you use it,the more sounds and melodic stuff you can achieve.

  • I might buy used also, but I was thinking of buying a new EMX and a used KP3.

  • make sure that the touchpad on the kp3 is in good condition before you buy.

and also make sure that the ribbon slider (arpeggiator) is in good nick too.(on the emx)

otherwise, everything should be good to go.

  • The beat was ok...but he coulda changed it up a lil bit by makin different sounds and othere ffects rather than just playin the same beat over and over again. It kinda gets annoying, but with different beats added to it and othere ffects with other mixws being blended in, I think this track woulda sounded a hella lot better that way. I have the EMX, but dont have the KP3, but you could'a done more with that and used other beats in your EMX to make the track sound 10 times better than this. Fact.

  • yeah he coulda esily sampled a few drum loops onto the kaoss pad so he cud just play them from there to mix things up

but alot of people just take what they got and make a song outtof it, not focussing much on texture

  • yeah i could look up the history of Detroit Techno.

But if this is what it sounds like, why would i want to do that?

I wasnt flaming his music style or taste, i was flaming how badly he uses his equipment. Make sure you know what your arguing, if your going to argue

  • pretty cool!

  • That's like saying rock is dead. Or that no one listens to Beethoven.

  • Fuck, YOU're so out! Just because YOU don't like it, that doesn't mean the whole world doesn't now too!

  • you are bang on there mate.

some people think that if they dont like certain shit, everyone has to follow suit.

    jeez.

  • Ahahahaha! ;) Electronic music is really popular in Europe now. People say that the Gameboy is obsolete and I use it to make music. Techno is far from dead.

  • Good ending :-)

  • Miam, that's good sound :)

  • detroit techno or not.. I think this a very good beat to groove too. I'd pay to hear this in a club. You just keep makin those beats. I have the blue machine aleady, lookin to soon get the Kaoss pad myself & make some beats myself. Can you show me some things here? that would be awesome. I also have the Red machine and a Korg keyboard and a dtum processor. But the Kaoss Pad I think is where its at when u mix with other machines like the red and blue ones that I have. Pretty interesting stuff ;-)

  • go for man,i have the esx and emx and kp3 and they all compliment each other no end!

  • korg! ::druel:: eww though, there is no evidence of any proficiency. you should give all that to me.

  • its amazing when people have awesome equitment, but completly EPIC FAIL at being able to use them.

you should rename this 'how to slaughter immense Korg products'

    this is horrible

  • ROFLMAO - You play Enter Shikari and you have the audacity to say that? NEWB! I bet you think Enter Shikari is real techno right? BWaaaaaaa! Do your musical history lesson, look up Detroit Techno (ie true techno) and you would find out that this is spot on. You just made yourself look like an idiot, what are you 18? 20? Ignorant little kid.

@Spiraltone - Good job man, don't let these idiots bother you, they know nothing.

  • That last comment was aimed at Nexus 1010 BTW

  • Dude, this is pure detroit techno...

and thats the best there is

  • there is no 'epic fail at using them' if they got the sound they were aiming for.

  • this guy actually uses the equipment very well.

he seems to be using many functions and facilities on the emx quite well.

    1)excellent drum programming.

2)he is using all synth parts (without getting overkill)

3)he has used/and recorded ribbon slider movements.

4)he solo's with the ribbon slider, and it stays in harmony with all the other mad shit thats goin on in the pattern.

5)while he's doin' all this he is using a kp3,quite well in places.

6)and he obviously has a firm grasp of techno

  • nice!

  • the hell is GRS?

  • google...

  • the hell is GRS?

  • I can get into this! Good track.

  • I agree the piano is the main element of the track.

  • The piano rocks!

  • ok dude..it sounds good but i think it´ll be better without that piano elements.... keep going u know how to get the people jumpin´

  • that was tight. good work

  • friiginn fantastic!!!!!

  • Respect!!!!

  • lower and change that piano sound and it will be twice as good :)

  • nice one!

  • yeah! aw sound! keep up :)

  • Reminds of the old KMS release days...good stuff

  • What a kool adlib using arpeggiator! Awesome detroit style techno *5
