And I remember when people celebrated teh 12 days of Christmas. Today, sadly, very few people get a real tree, it's always a chinese tree, pretend, fake. And they take their commercial tree down by the evening of Christmas.
Cavalier, yes, as a child I remember we all sat around the TV for shows like Bing's, Andy Williams, Perry Como, Bob Hope, and I can't remember which others it's been so long. OF course the classic animated ones too, but the variety shows were always something different. Fortunately, if you have PBS, you can catch Lawrence Welk Xmas shows. The good old days
I got an Andy Williams dvd that brought back a lot of memories. Mom on the sofa...me under the tree playing with the manger pieces...bring back those Christmas specials and variety shows!
Yes,exactly how I feel. I remember as a kid getting the hot cocoa ready and settling in a nice easy chair in front of the TV. The best and beloved entertainers are gone. I wish they would release the entire specials and not just clips.
these were the years!! they just don't make good family Christmas specials any more. The kind where the whole family sat down to watch.

@lovefreak27 these are the kids he was nicer to. He had issues with his four oldest sons (not shown here) from his first marriage.

wish I could find the Christmas special when I sang Would You Like to Swing On A Star with him. I played his daughter in a television series as well.
