  • And it was announced that she will receive a Kennedy Center Honor award this year. Couldn't happen to a more fitting and appropriate artist. So glad that she is finally being recognized!

  • Barbara Cook. a national treasure. And her performance of Amanda McBroom's wonderful song "Errol Flynn" is truly beautiful. McBroom's father was David Bruce, who was Deanna Durbin's leading man twice (as well as working with Errol) but his career kind of fizzled out, which does add an additional poignancy to the song

  • Barbara Cook starred w/ Robert Preston in

"The Music Man" when I was a teenager more

    than half a century ago.

I think Amanda McBroom wrote the poem

    "The Rose".

Very nice song. Tune sounds familiar.

    Tx 4 the post.

  • Sensational! I find it hard to believe her to be 76 years old. TY.Nate.

  • Wow. I've loved her voice since my mom gave me the original cast recording of Candide when I was 10, but I had know idea she was still singing. So lovely!

  • Never heard of BC. the song caught my ear while milking my cows and listinging to something folk or something like that on NPR. I caught the Flynn part and loved the song ever since. I love E.F.! And all his movies! That is the the fantasy part. This song is the reality.

    PS. Hope BO fails!

  • i wonder if chicago's queen of musical hearts ever learned this one,,,,

  • Here is the perfect union: touching lyrics, beautiful music, and a singer who has the technique and expression for conveying the emotion of the song.

  • @meltzerboy

Wow! Wonderful singing, and the song has a really touching message. I found out that Cook was the original Cunegonde; no surprise, then, that her technique is rock-solid! Thanks for sharing, meltzerboy, and thank you, AllanWo, for posting!
