  • Of course Christianity adapted some pagan traditions to survive in a pagan culture and because there are universal truths in human history.

  • Christians stole our holiday and slapped their god on it -.- And why doesn't anyone mention the Egyptian celebration of the Sun God Ra celebrated at this time? Or the Celtic Yule celebrated on December 21? Where do you think Yule Logs and the cakes and caroling come from?

  • Christmas is a devil worshiping festival which has nothing to do0 with Jesus and alot to do with romans

  • @SALAFIMEDIAUK that would be a valid theory IF the christian version of the Devil even existed in Roman times (pre-christ that is). the only ones calling upon "The Devil" on a day to day basis are christians. Many believe to name it is to call it and honor (worship) it just by giving the name in the first place...in that respect, that would make Christians the biggest Devil Worshippers in History since they honor him so often.

  • @CrissNSully88 It certainly proves that the christian god doesn't exist.

  • Thessalonians 5:21

  • Its awsome when we Christians tern from bad stuff and make them good kind of like Rock music with bad lyrics and make an alternative rock song with positive lyrics to reach out the lives that listin to that kind of genra!

  • @ISHBON

Genre* And it doesnt bother you that your "religion" is about as original as Friday The 13th Part 7, and therein lay exactly all its obvious fallacies?

  • hahahaha, this vid makes christians sick

  • Hmm interesting. I don't really care if Christmas is really the birth of Christ. I never really believed that it was his 'real' birthday anyways.

This is the reason why certain religions (especially Islamic, Mormons) don't celebrate Christmas because of its pagan roots. My friend is a Mormon and that is what he told me.

  • wow imagine christmas in may...that would be quiet interesting :P

  • I know I'm going to be yelled at on this but . . . Let us not forget the corporate roots of Christmas spirit.

  • No really surprised. All modern religions have pagan roots. Every religion symbol has been used before in pagan beliefs.

  • Uh, Oh. Now the secrets out.

  • very interesting!

  • If this is being broadcasted in the US, prepare to have FOX News try to sue you into oblivion, Discovery.

  • Im bored of hearing about this, yes we get it, Jesus was not born on Dec 25th and He wasnt a sun god, He was the One who Created the sun.

  • @infamos God doesn't exist. Get it now?

  • @HaloZero147 Yes I finally get it!!!

It all makes sense now, you saying "God doesnt exist", thats all it would take to convince me.

You cant expect a simple christian to realise this, without someone who's ancestors were monkeys from telling them this.

    Thank you, kind sir.

  • @infamos See? That's why you're religious. You don't even understand the basics of evolution.

  • @HaloZero147 ive studied evolutionary theory, im not here to insult or undermine your beliefs but people are allowed to believe in what they want.

I believe in God, you dont, thats fine.

  • @infamos I'm sorry. Why?

  • @infamos - Have you ever seen Lhasa Apso that wasn't a dog? Have you ever seen a Percheron that wasn't a horse? Have you ever seen a 747 that wasn't an airplane?

Homo Sapiens is a species of Great Apes. If you can not accept that, that is Not My Problem. Do a little research, talk about it with knowledgeable people. AronRa can really explain how it all comes together if you really want to understand it.

  • @LeksServices Sorry but you are never going to convince someone who is religious with 'Science' and written facts.

Its like bashing the bible on an atheist's head. Same thing for atheists bashing science on a Christian. Religious people don't look at what's physical they look at what's 'spritual'. Something that you don't see with your two eyes.

  • @Blueknightex

but science does prove that God exists, that's where you are wrong

  • @LeksServices if you believe mankind evolved from an ape that is your choice, I believe man was created in the image of the Almighty God, thats my choice.

  • @infamos Yet you believed we evolved from monkeys, as well as believing an a two thousand year old written by a magic man in the sky. I better start believing in god before I burn in hell.

  • @HaloZero147 I dont believe we evolved from monkeys, neither do I believe the bible was literally written by God who you call a magic man in the sky.

Even if you believed in God, that wouldnt save you from hell, Jews, Muslims, satanists believe in a god but none of them are saved. A man must be born again of water and of Spirit by receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour to enter into the Kingdom of God.

    Peace.

  • @infamos You stated that evolutionary theory entailed evolving from monkeys, which it doesn't. Just because you don't like to think of primates as our ancestors doesn't mean they aren't. Just because you like a fairytale because it is comforting doesn't mean it's true either.

  • @infamos We have common ancestors with monkeys. When our common ancestor was alive, technically it wasn't really a monkey, but a monkey like lifeform.

  • @infamos There isn't enough evidence to show that such a being like "god" exists, Without enough evidence to support its own existence, how do you separate it from something else that we have no evidence for its existence?

In other words, Not enough evidence for what you are claiming. Therefor why should I care/why should I believe your claim?

  • @sabertooth1980 Its not something someone can provide scientific data on to say "see Ive proved God exists".

Thats why I am not hostile towards atheists, I undertsand their skepticism, knowing God is real is spiritual not based on my brains ability to process information.

For someone who believes(in God) a miracle or a supernatural experience or intervention is evidence, to an atheist or agnostic etc its just an unexplained phenomena.

If you were to ask God to show you He exists He would.

  • @infamos Actually, I have done that. I was brought up in a church whose whole thing was "ask Jesus into your heart" thing.

And for a while. I did believe as most people did. But then religion became less and less real, the concept of "Jesus coming again" seemed like a far away "Well it's going to happen! Anytime soon... We're in the last days...." mantra with no real value other than to be repeated again and again.

  • @sabertooth1980 The focus is not about the 2nd coming or any 1 particular beliefto obsess over, thats all psychological indoctrination, that is in fact nothing nore then religion.

If you had experienced God's presence/spirit you would know it, that is why christians are unable to explain their belief by producing tangible evidence,

It doesnt sound like you actually experienced His presence, all you did was go to a building where people sang songs and talked about their beliefs,

  • @infamos "You weren't a real christian." "You never really felt the holy spirit, if you did you would have known." "You didn't try hard enough! It's all YOUR Fault! God would have reviled himself to you if you did!" You can rationalize this in the "No True Scottsman" Fallacy. Good for you. For a time I did believe.

I would put my arm over my head to not listen to rock music, I did go to church, take part in foot washing, and all that jazz.

But then I started to think about religion.

  • @infamos I let my analitical mind wander.. I soon discovered science. And I ate it up. Science was interesting, imaginative, and wonderful. It helped me make sense of the world. That is after all Sciences' Job.

But then I tried to apply science to "god". And the first thing I did was ask the question "What Is god?". I struggled with that, looked at it. And thought that I found the answer that god could have been a 10D Super String left over from the big bang.

  • @infamos But this answer didn't really give any satisfaction. I tried and tried and eventually had other things to do. It wasn't till a shake up in my family life that I realized how much contradiction was in Religion. People said one thing and did another. I slowly started realizing how stifling it was. You couldn't do this, you couldn't do that, the only good thing was that Jesus was coming again.

Eventually this lead to me being an agnostic.

  • @infamos To my late teens I came to some conclusions. One, if there was something after this life, yay. If not I might as well lead a good life. That little spindle is what lead me to my atheism.

It's like inverse pascals wager. It isn't about the afterlife you get, it's about the life you lead now.

And then I realized "If god is all good, then he isn't going to punish me for leading a good life."

I had no idea of the mental gymnastics you guys pulled at the time. Only later would I learn.

  • @infamos Once exposed to the wonders of the internet I began to be exposed to other peoples' views, ideas and beliefs.

Eventually I realized where I stood and what it all meant.

I wasn't the one making the claim of a god. You were. It wasn't my job to prove or disprove the existence of a god. It is Your job as the Theist to give me Evidence.

If you don't. I have no reason to believe your claims.

No matter how pretty they sound.

  • @sabertooth1980 I never said you didnt try hard enough or something was wrong with you.

I am not just some bible bashing christian nut, I love science even if for different reasons.

  • @infamos Science in the purest of sense, is above all, Agnostic. It says "Look, I don't know how this works. Let's make some observations, then come up with some ideas. And if it turns out that one of you are right? Congrads. If not, no biggy, let's just try again. But remember. Observations first, Ideas Next. Never try to force the observations to try and fit your preconceived ideas. That just isn't fair to everyone else."

    Science is Agnostic.

  • @sabertooth1980 I wouldnt label science as purely agnostic, it is in its purest form a collection of information, physics, chemistry, biology etc.

You have attached your own theology and god less interpretation to make your own religion, if I dont believe in evolutionary I cant be part of your club?

Science belongs to humanity not agnostics, not religous people, your intellectual babble does not move me.

  • @infamos I'm not trying to move you. Appeals to emotion aren't fortay. Ironic that humans are emotional base creatures and all.

However. Atheism isn't a religion. And yes. There are people who don't believe in evolution who are also atheists. But with science there isn't any reason to "believe" anything when the evidence speaks for itself. Particularly with evolution.

And you are using an equivocation fallacy here. Science isn't my "religion."

  • @infamos The only question we will have to ask you is if you believe in a god/gods. That is the only real definer of being an atheist. Don't worry many ex-believers once they started to _think_ about their own Religious beliefs and what have you started a long road to atheism. Eventually you realize that there are hundreds if not thousands of gods you have never believed in, This is just one more unfounded assertion that was laid on you as a child with the fear of death to provide it support.

  • @sabertooth1980 again you can believe what you want, God gave you free choice to decide.

  • @infamos I would like evidence for that claim about this god character. Without it you can't really say that "god" did anything.

  • @infamos And if you want to see the number 23 in everything, and set yourself up to pick out 23 from everything, then yes. you have laid down a foundational bias toward something and when ever you see that something your brain will cheer and with paranoia, look for the next time that 23 shows up.

  • @sabertooth1980 Haha, that reminda me of my friend's description of a car ride a few years back, he and his brother watched The Number 23 (a movie), and on the way back, they found 23 in everything.

  • @infamos Actually fusion created the sun.

  • @TheDrpretorious I do not doubt that.

  • @TheDrpretorious Just a question...has anyone on Earth made miniture suns before? I would like to know that :)

  • Almost all stories and parables of the bible and christianity are simply ripoffs of previous religions and beliefs anyway. Another proof of how fake and manufactured religions are...

  • @MELANIE1001 I ♥ you for that comment. A Festivus for the rest of us!

  • @welcome2my2ndlife -haha, time to wake up to the lies you've been fed your whole life

  • I read the title of the video and said "duh!" loudly to myself.

  • @welcome2my2ndlife

Well it is, it's actually been known for a long time. Heck in the bible some of the saturnalia practices that have been adopted by Christianity like chopping down a tree and decorating it is strictly forbidden in the bible. Many modern beliefs, practices and interpretations are adopted from places far outside of the bible or early christian traditions.

  • Whenever Discovery posts a video regarding religion, half the comments are just arguments of Christianity vs. Atheism. Thumbs up if you are tired of this

  • ahhhh BORING

  • Religion is fake is a confusion of Aliens and UFOs and on those times people weare "Primitive" they dint understand there technology and they call them Gods and Angels and the word of Angel is the same word of Anunakies that means those ho came from the heavens

  • @ufohunter16902 What you believe in has just as much demonstrable evidence as their gods. Moron.

  • Interisting that most of dicovery viewers are not religious, that's good! That means that you guys are smart xD

  • Christmas has its roots in many, many Pagan beliefs ranging from the Romans to the Celts to the Norse. They just stumbled upon the Romans first. It all comes down to the end of the dark, dark days of the waning year.

  • christmas isn't about jesus christ AT ALL

not paganism either, It's about the vikings beliefs in Oden

    You are all american liars

  • This is why I think Christianity is the best religion. Many Christians admit to their pagan roots...not like those other ones - you know.

  • This has been common knowledge for quite a while, but goooooooood luck telling a christian about it. Dogmatically single minded fucking robots.....
