its actually not the same when its ported, the 360 always runs better than the ps3 version because its WAY easier to port it to the 360 because of its processor. porting to the ps3 is more difficult because you have the cell processor, and developers dont care enough to put the time in and make it run well. AA and AF does not kill ATI cards. In fact, there was a big news article about it. G80 and G92 GeForce cards have memory allocation problems and run out way too fast at high resolutions. With AA and AF they just chug. ATI cards don't have this problem. That's why you see a difference between the 512MB and 1GB 8800GT but not the 512MB and 1GB HD3870.

ok listen i have amd 4600 2.4x2 ghz 2 gig ram ddr2 667mhz and a supreclocked 8800gt. i play in 1440x900 and i get 30 fps solid, lowest 11. now when i took object and shadow to medium my fps came up by 25. im not even joking. put everthing else on high and just keep shadow and object on low. if you want you can also bring texture to medium.

Get Windows Vista and an 8800GTX or 8800 Ultra.There are cheaper DX10 video cards out there but they dont run Crysis as good as the 8800 series.Also,make sure you get Vista 32 bit for now.The 64 bit version lets you use over 4GB of Ram but many people have major issues with it.After you get all that just run Crysis with DX10 enabled and there ya go.
Yes, but you should be able to on XP too. I have a worse system, but with a slightly better graphics card(8800GTS, the new one) and I can run it on nearly very high. On Vista, but it should have the same performance on XP.
yer HL2 and the unreal engines work well on low end computers , but cryteks engine is a biatch to run as it needs lots of VRAM to load massive sections of the map and high speed core to get that info along to the cpu or the other way round rather

Be careful with your SLI 88gtx's, I'm not sure about just a 660W PSU, check the 12v rails and compare them to the required that are listed on NVIDIA's site

I was not referring to dual-GPU cards like the 3870X2s. Of course they beat out any 8800s. The GT is the most basic model and still pounds the regular 3870 in Crysis, UT3, and other high-demand games. 3DBenchmarking tests mean almost nothing. The 3870X2 scored higher in benchmarking than the 9800 GX2, yet the GX2 gets at least 25 frames more than the X2 on Crysis on Very High. At any rate, it is known that GeForce handles AA and AF much better than ATI products.

I think you need to be more specific in your answers and questions. You said any geforce would beat *ANY* Radeon...keyword ANY. And btw the 8800GT isn't the most basic model atm the 8800GS is. First you think motherboards are a main 3D rendering component when they aren't and only make minimal difference and now you saying the nvidias are better because they outperform in Crysis.....The game was optimized for it idiot! Don;t bring 9 series cards into this either because its off topic to ur 8800s

No, I don't think the motherboards are the main 3D rendering component. I was making a reference to whether or not the one someone had could support tri/quad SLI. At any rate, while Crysis may have been GeForce optimized, than apparently so are all the other high-performance games out there. AA and AF KILL ANY ATI card. And oh yeah, the GS IS the most basic one. Srry. And asking ur opinion, do you think Crysis Warhead, using the "optimized" version of CryEngine 2, will run better on ATI cards?

Mmm but everything these days is basically LGA775 so you don't really need to worry about that atm ay. AA and AF doesn't kill ATi cards my two 3870's handle both great. I suppose it will be nvidia friendly again I haven't looked into it much tbh. I think the best indication we'll get is when both companies realease there new series of cards.

AA and AF does not kill ATI cards. In fact, there was a big news article about it. G80 and G92 GeForce cards have memory allocation problems and run out way too fast at high resolutions. With AA and AF they just chug. ATI cards don't have this problem. That's why you see a difference between the 512MB and 1GB 8800GT but not the 512MB and 1GB HD3870.

ya the GT's were the low range i thought thats the one you were refering to not the newly released GTS version which i do hear are a bit faster. For the person posting about the 9000's series though, thru testing they found a dual gtx system still beat it on most apps so far, so we'll have to see. I'm thinking the 10k series be much more reliable for performance.

Gratz for being the dumbest person alive. More memory on GPU = less system memory needed for rendering. Sorry if your'e too ignorant to understand. The card chipset makes a difference also, hence why we see many different versions available. Obviously your'e the BUDGET type since your lack of education represented in your assinine response would only grant you a job asking "Would you like fries with that?"

ok listen i have amd 4600 2.4x2 ghz 2 gig ram ddr2 667mhz and a supreclocked 8800gt. i play in 1440x900 and i get 30 fps solid, lowest 11. now when i took object and shadow to medium my fps came up by 25. im not even joking. put everthing else on high and just keep shadow and object on low. if you want you can also bring texture to medium.

Get Windows Vista and an 8800GTX or 8800 Ultra.There are cheaper DX10 video cards out there but they dont run Crysis as good as the 8800 series.Also,make sure you get Vista 32 bit for now.The 64 bit version lets you use over 4GB of Ram but many people have major issues with it.After you get all that just run Crysis with DX10 enabled and there ya go.

i have core 2 duo 2.6ghz, 4gb ram, 8800gt, but i cannot run it with dx9 on high settings. only medium. i mean, i can run high, but its super laggy.

Yes, but you should be able to on XP too. I have a worse system, but with a slightly better graphics card(8800GTS, the new one) and I can run it on nearly very high. On Vista, but it should have the same performance on XP.

yer HL2 and the unreal engines work well on low end computers , but cryteks engine is a biatch to run as it needs lots of VRAM to load massive sections of the map and high speed core to get that info along to the cpu or the other way round rather

Through all of Crysis' hype, I can't believe that so few people even pay attention to the first ever real-time solution to ambient occlusion! Screen space ambient occlusion, it's what gives it that real/cenimatic look.

lol, wiki it, and I'll explain it a bit here. Ambient occlusion is a calculation done to objects, and it calculates the ammount of light that reaches that object at a given point, and applies a certain colr depending on what it retrieves. The result is a lifelike representation of how shadows naturally crowd around corners and under objects. So basically, it's one BIG soft shadow, coming from all directions. Previously not possible on GPUs, but Crysis is the first game to utilize it.

Be careful with your SLI 88gtx's, I'm not sure about just a 660W PSU, check the 12v rails and compare them to the required that are listed on NVIDIA's site

Hey I have Vista in one partition of hardrive and vista business on the other....but when I boot the compyter,it just goes on to Log on to Vista...it doesnt ask me wether I want to go into XP or Vista ....why?

I have dX10, and it runs EVERY GAME FINE. it wont make your DX9 games look better because they do not have DX10 features, but it runs them very well.
DX10 is GOOD though. Makes Bioshock look so good. Waiting on Crysis...brin on Nov 16

Yeah, in 10 years this will be probably be bad graphics for a game. It'll probably still look good for someone who doesn't play games. But for a gamer he'll just think this graphic is horrible compared to what he plays on. (But it's kinda fun to think about, a office computer that has a crappy GPU will probably be able to max this if it's still compatible. So for that purpose it'll be a lot nicer to play on those machines then on todays were like, quake works...)
