Hi, I love the paper mache masks and build, with the ancient technique of Venice. The mask is the dual personality of each one of us .... thanks again for your images of the soul ....
I think a longer pause after the narration before he says, "Are you?" would have been better. Otherwise, well done. :) then again, what'd I expect from F.C. Rabbath. most of his things are well done
COLD CHILLS, REALIZING I WORE A MASK EVEN WHEN I CLAIMED I KEPT IT REAL CHANGED MY LIFE... I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT LIKE THIS. I HAD A MASK FOR EVERYTHING. THIS IS INCREDIBLE! JUST INCREDIBLE.....SMH
I think this is one of your best films. I love it. Such a great and well-presented message. I do agree with some of the other posts that the narration was kind of unnecessary and perhaps a bit on the nose. But overall I LOVED it, and the music fit really well to help tell the story. Great work!
the narration was unnecessary as its messages were expressed visually throughout the film. Maybe you could've expressed the overal theme by showing the character being physically lost or distraught as he reveals his face. None the less like all of your films, this film is amazing fcrabbath and an inspiration to me so thank you :)
Wow, this one was really good, I have quite high standards when it comes to Youtube Short films and this one was really powerful. One thing you could have done better though, instead of just repeating 'we all wear masks' say something meaningful after that something about how these masks have affected his life; I know you did this visually but narration is quite a powerful tool in filming, when you use it right. Anyway, I thought this was brilliant, good work.
@TheDarkwoodFilms NOOO! Narration ruins film. Read David Mamet's ON DIRECTING FILM. I used to make shorts with narration, until I realized that those stories would have been better told through a more thoughtful approach to cuts. You should strive for simplicity. It's our ego that says we need to explain everything, that over explains. If the story can be told without it, cut it out. It's pretty much self evident that it affects his life. We feel it through the mood of the film and his actions.
@syrupneko I'm not encouraging them to use more narration, just better narration if there going to use it. I agree with though when you say 'You should strive for simplicity'. I am a young director myself and I would love it if you visited my channel, we have our first short film going up in a week or so and I would love to read what you think about it as you clearly know what you're talking about.
@TheDarkwoodFilms What little narration there was underlined the theme. This was more or less a morality piece, where the viewer was meant to fill in the blanks with his own conclusions to be lead to think about the masks in his own life. Had he given us more insight in to the man's personal life, this could have turned in to a different beast. As it is tho, kinda reminds me of AMAZING STORIES. I'll keep an eye out for your film tho, if you're serious about critique.

weird thing is is that I had an idea like this with the same type of basis of this short film about like 5 years ago.
