  • hey.. would it matter if I use windows? its not iapphone Dev Kit right?

  • @redfoxarts This works on Windows, Linux, and Mac

  • why do you choose the 32bit version anyway?

  • But will it blend?

Unable to connect to repository (htp)dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/content.xml

    Connection timed out: connect

  • Says, cannot be complement because of a conflicting dependency. What do I do?

  • great, clear series. thank you. you're a life saver. many of us cannot afford to pay to learn android dev.

  • @LaMarquiseDeMerteuil If you can afford an android phone you should be able to afford a $30 book.

  • @SalgatAustin did I say I can afford an android phone? interesting how people make assumptions.

  • From the bests tutorial guys i ever use!! :D Thank u!

  • i'm getting some problems installing android adt plugin to the eclipse

  • @TehUberCyberBeast That isn't funny at all

  • Love it how he promotes all license agreements :D

  • Why do you sound different?

  • @C5FlyingSquad it's travis!!! not bucky

  • @tsiou0tsiou Haha, my bad. I only noticed later on.

  • Eclipse is in the Ubuntu Repos! :D

  • what if i installed java for 64 bit? do i have to download the 32 bit version of java as well?

  • @thenewboston Is the same procedure being followed on netbeans?

  • @pokiripandoo Nope, the plugins for es' doesn't work on netbeans so you can only use the doc.

  • @Nickleo9 thanks bro... i downloaded eclipse and thats working!

  • I cannot complete this step. I keep getting an error for missing requirements. Any ideas?

    missing requirements requires 'org.maven.ide.eclipse

  • @InDevMode

I found the issue. You must run eclipse as the administrator

  • Wait...wait.. he's developing an adroid app on a mac?? I find that a little bit ironic.

  • @BloodyMagnificent agreed

  • @BloodyMagnificent How is that ironic? Android is made by Google........

  • @BlobIslandGame And...? Macs arent made by Google retard. It's Apple.

  • @BloodyMagnificent And Windows isn't made by Google either...it's not like designing a iPhone app on windows....

  • @BlobIslandGame What about the iOS war against Android?

  • @BloodyMagnificent you have to basically have to pay for the use of ios to make apps but android is free

  • @BlobIslandGame Google And Microsoft like each other... and technicly you should be developing of a linux because android is made of linux, but then again, ios if made of linux too :P

  • @MrBlading4ever IOS is made from Unix though which technically isnt linux.

  • @BloodyMagnificent platforms aren't religions

  • do you need a mac for android app making?

  • @iambobby100 no you dont

  • Download the new DRESS CASEY ANTHONY APP. Very fun to play and very funny. Guy who come up with it is genius

  • Dose it mater witch eclipse u use? Your say helios... the one i downloaded say indigo...?

  • if you have problems installing the adt use the zip file that is provided on the site

  • is there somewhere i can download all your vids? :)

  • @tristan14344 use jdownloader

  • hey travis!!!!

u have done a wonderful job along with bucky

i need to make a screenshot capturing application for the Android

can u tell me how to start and where to go after that???

  • @sunnytheperfect1 u need root permissions which u need to have some serious skills with Android (it's a non-Google or non-AOSP SDK) also there is already 2+ apps for that (ShootMe)

  • 69 comments lmfao !!!!

  • if u cnt import the tools switch off the firewall

  • can any one help me here while copying the stuff at 5:20 says duplicate location

  • If anyone can program really good drop me a email

  • @TheDirtMan74 i can do c++ pretty good :P

  • Bucky totally could've ripped off Travis by changing his voice to sound like his own. He already has a similar dialect.

  • what is this used for ???

  • Travis is my daddy

  • You can also make Android apps on NetBeans IDE for those who don't want to download eclipse

  • when I want to select the details and click next theres an error:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software currently installed: Shared profile 1.0.0.1308118925849 (SharedProfile_epp.package.java 1.0.0.1308118925849) Missing requirement: Shared profile 1.0.0.1308118925849 (SharedProfile_epp.package.java 1.0.0.1308118925849) requires 'org.maven.ide.eclipse [1.0.0.20110607-2117]' but it could not be found

    whats wrong?

    thanks

  • @addy3x You have to run eclipse as administrator.

  • @ybber1

Well, I am an administrator, how do I solve that problem then?

  • @addy3x I think you should right click on the starter icon and then "run as administrator", but if you have done that I don't know what the problem is :S

    It worked for me :)

  • @ybber1 thanks a lot, it worked

  • @addy3x If it doesn't work try to install an older version of eclipse

  • @addy3x are you using windows 7 and are not logged in as administrator? If yes, right click on your eclipse shortut and pick 'run as administrator'. then go through adding new software into Eclipse, as advised by the tut.

  • @LaMarquiseDeMerteuil

    well thanks a lot

but somebody else already told me

    thank you anyway!!

  • when I select all or none by 'installing details' I can't click next, whats wrong?

  • I know you love licence agreements :D

  • Great lesson, 'for the most part'. :)

  • Ok I read it the licence agreement. Let's start Now!

  • You should move it into your /Applications folder not the root of your HDD.

  • 0 people read terms and conditions.

  • @Realjhad i did ;D

  • Jake Jensen.. is he danish? :)

Btw thanks for these awesome tutorials! I just started watching this to be able to make my iPhone App "Card2Phone" for Android Phones.

  • bucky please make playlists :(

  • @kloppie5 Try h.t.t.p first and h.t.t.p.s afterwards

  • You can subscribe to this playlist. Click on "Android Application Development Tutorials (thenewboston)" playlist link under my comment.

  • for the most part

  • @mkicvr Exactly what I was thinking for the most part.

  • I've got Eclipse installed and everything, but when it is trying to update the Android ADT plugin, it gets stuck at "Fetching content.jar", and doesn't download. Should I just wait and try again, or is there a way to fix it?

  • Can you believe this!? A youtube user that knows BOTH Mac and Windows and ignores the pros and cons.. I've already learnt so much from this dude! I would subscribe more than once if it was possible :D

  • @SyntekkTeam Why would you use a text editor instead of Eclipse? It takes so looong to compile anything!

  • is there anyway to install adt without eclipse? I try to stick with notepad++ when I can. So if there's a way to do it without eclipse that would be great

  • I get a error: "Failed to load JNI shared library"

  • @dabu002 Never mind, i got it figured out.

  • HAHAHAHA!!! I read the entire thing. WOOHOO!! IT was SOOOO....fucked up >.>

  • So... looks like I got the Indigo one... Will it work or I have to get Helios?

  • @Flicknin no worries , it will work :) Just make sure to install and configure your ADT plugin properly :)

  • @DelaNation thanks for the answer, I thought I have to download it again xD but it's ok now, it works :)

  • I've read on developer.android.com that "classic" eclipse is recommended. Google recommends it. Soooo.....why did you download a different one? Which is better? And does it even matter? :)

    Thanks :p

  • i can't find the sdk location in the preferences... help!

  • @arcanists2000 I had that same problem not to long ago, i think it was a bug from the program. This is what i did: I changed the location of the sdk (for example, desktop or c:\) then tried it again. Try and see if that helps.

  • for the most part.
