  • Boring.

  • Awesome as fuck....powerfully dissonent, imaginative, strong....

  • Ironic, I am a HUGE Rammstein fan too....Yeah, love this song. Way to make the most from an old riff from Led Zeppelin!!!

  • @dgerdenits Whole goddamn intro sounds like Kashmir. Hell, so does the rest of the song.

Reckon Ade and Gary realise this?

  • @HoleHeadedLiar seeing as Numan wasnt a Zepplin fan, i doubt it, and this really doesnt sound like Zepplin, the guitar MAYBE but im fairly certain that the riff, like most things in rock, was used before the said artist

  • @hellchild65 I think my point is that the aural impression, (not necessarily the sound) is similar: military-esque, thick, staccato guitar, over a big, marching drum beat, with dreamy vocals delivered over subdued music. (At least in the first half of the song) This sort of thing's always been common to Krautrock.

Furthermore, the mood is also not dissimilar to NIN's We're in This Together, but for somewhat different reasons/aural textures after about the first half of the song.

  • Two tracks that stick in my head forever from 2011 after seeing them live, This one and Jayce Lewis 'Solitaire' fucking geniuses both of them

  • Oh My gawd...a perfect circle sounds a LOT like ethis.

  • @thehornypuppy APC= alternative rock Numan=electronic/darkwave for the most part. not really in the same area lol

  • @hellchild65 Listen to the vocals and the effects...i mean the audio processing techniques are quite similar.

  • WOW WOW WOW I remember this. Ill make i never forget it again

  • Not bad at all.

  • @derschwarzeengel1 Apparently I miss a lot of things residing in the US, especially US south. I listen to comments, read, etc. This man, meaning Gary, may I offer Telekon? We grow old here, all of us do. I am aware of Gary and his family, meaning comments I read. Give REAL money if this man bothered with show in the US? May I offer RUSH as best band in the world, Canadian as it were, Gary on the other hand?

  • Love this tune.

  • Incredible!!!

  • Sounds like Zeppelin's Kashmir

  • this is his best song since replicas/pleasure principal.

  • sounds great!

  • Instantly loved it. So hot! Next stop download.

  • I know everyone is different and has their own taste but i gotta say i LOVE Mr Numans music. I have lots of his albums going back to the pleasure prinsiple but i must admit the prefur the darker stuff. Fav albums Pure/Exile/Scared/Hybrid/jagged planning on getting Dead Son Rising a.s.a.p :-)

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • @GolliwoggMusic Maybe this is American Southern Baptist thing? I cannot be saved by you.

  • GREAT!

  • If you get a chance, go to see Numan live. He simply gets better and better.

  • @aussiepicnic wrong, he gets worse and worse.... but this particular track is his best in decades

  • holy crap! Amazing!

  • @ladymarionessa May I humbly offer?

  • @ladymarionessa By the simple fact you said holy crap and amazing, I assume I can say things I am not accustom to saying?

  • @ladymarionessa Not by you, not by God. Oh I forgot, who is God?

  • No tengo palabras, me encanta esta cancion

  • @almfacebooker huh!

  • I love the beginning.

    Remains me of Metallica

  • gary "the alien" numan. a man/person NOT from this planet.amaZing!and great.

a living LEGEND! eXcellent&inTelligent muSICK for the people.

  • @TheSuendenfall I am not of this planet either?

  • love this album!!, Numan and NIN courtesy of my ipod on my site radio kept me sane whilst I was working very long hours away from home recently

  • The chorus to this is euphoric.

  • the guitar riff sounds really like those rammstein riffs !! i love it !! awesome song :D

  • @halfpipefreak

    Rammstein ???

I presume you never heard of Skin Chamber.

  • @Labyrinthman nope i haven't :)

  • @halfpipefreak half"half: Numan made these guitar and drum performances before Rammstein... Ilike iRammstein

  • He was (is) always on the cutting edge of this stuff. NIN comparisons are obvious. I remember hearing "Down In It" for the first time and rushing out and buying Pretty Hate Machine. Loved it (and still do) beginning to end. Then Trent hooked up with Al (ruiner of many bands) Jourgensen and started to sound like a Ministry clone, which Al was apparently good at making people do. Anyhow, great song, and thank god he didn't let Al produce it. It would have sounded like Ministry.

  • @trypticsoy considering Al only really worked with Ministry and RevCo, both of which he did great with, i think its rather unfair to say he ruins any bands, what was the only bad thing he had a hand in producing? SP's Rabies is the only thing i can think of off the top of my head

  • @hellchild65 While never credited, he did spend a lot of time with Reznor in the early 90s. They recorded some stuff just goofing around together (while "altered" was the word Trent used in an interview I remember seeing a long time ago) that eventually became the foundation for some future NIN tracks. Also, while never credited for any BS work, the more time he spent with Gibby, the more I seemed to hear a little Al influence moving into BS albums.

  • @hellchild65 Also, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Ministry, think it is good music and still listen to it regularly to this day (love listening to something from With Sympathy and then listening to something newer to hear the evolution).

  • @trypticsoy im not too big on WS or the last sucker tbh, but the rest of Ministrys catalog is awesome. btw thats interesting to hear that about Trent and Al making music that eventually became NIN material, never new about that, i knew Trent toured on a few dates with RevCo but that was it.

  • I can't believe how his music has changed. He has gone from futuristic new wave to hard rock/industrial. There are stille electronic elements but this stuff is not as pioneering as his late-70's early 80's sound. Doesn't even come close. If anything, he is sounding like Nine Inch Nails! It is still an awesome and big sound, but I honestly feel he is trying to please the "industrial crowd" rather than being himself! He has lost that sense of mystery and has become just another Trent Reznor!

  • Comment removed

  • well, seeing as Numans 70's and early 80's stuff could be considered proto industrial (listen to Living Ornaments 79 and 81), i think this was the most natural direction he could have taken with his music, its an updated, and at times, darker, electronic sound, who cares if it borders on being Industrial, it still sounds good, lol much better then the crap he made for most of his 80's career that is (stuff like Warriors Outland....yuck). btw if anything Reznor is a Gary Numan ;) not vice versa

  • @hellchild65 That's a very good answer. I still love his new material though. My favourite albums however, are Replicas, Pleasure Principle, Telekon and Dance. I also love Exile, Pure, and Jagged. I dont like much of his music in the 80's. It became commercial and sounded weak. I always associate him with that huge, haunting Polymoog string sound of the late 70's and up to about 81. It is so unique and sends shivers down my spine!!!

  • @MrGeorgios2020 yeah, i agree with you for the most part, but i did like I Assassins and his earlier punkish stuff too. Berserker and the Fury were also pretty good, at least imo. they had a more cold, and emotionless sound in them, which somewhat stands out from the rest of his 80's material, which, imo was crappy as hell, it was this jazz-funk electro music with too much female vocals and sax.

  • @hellchild65 I agree with you again. The first Tubeway Army album is pretty cool, and I Assassin has some great rhythms, but that jazzy electro stuff he did in the 80's is horrible! I can't even listen to it. I remember buying Berserker and The Fury and liking them, but I still always come back to Replicas and Pleasure Principle.

  • love it

  • wonderful! :)

  • It's crazy how different this newer stuff is from Gary Numan's older music. This new stuff is seriously incredible. Thanks for uploading this song!

  • goosebumps

  • i love this song so much GARY is the Best

  • sweet

  • Incredible. I had no idea that he got better as he got older. What a beautiful surprise.

  • I saw Gary in London several years back at Shepard's Bush, supported by of all bands The Killers.. great night. Not many in the crowd knew who The Killers were I think.

  • I have always been a fan. I want him to do a "I'm praying to the aliens" with modern snyth sound effects. Great song!

  • Way, way, way better than most artists trying to do the whole industrial/rock thing.

  • is this really the CARS guy lol...

    i love it :] -grins-

  • @BinxaRooable yep. it is.

  • loved it,think i'll buy this c.d

  • wow, wow, wow the world has gone stir crazy for DARK WAVE dark tunes, perhaps we are all fed up with commercial tunes

  • NUMANNNN É DEMAISSS.

  • NUMANNNN É FUDEROSO.

  • I get told am a freak because I am 17 and i love Gary Numan! :D haha. But I dont care! Gary Numan is a legend!

Am doing a dance to this song x

  • i always search for a free download of this song....... yet its still hard to find

  • @MegaCynds

    Hi!

you could look for it on Bee mp3

or just load the Ant downloader or youtube downloader onto your computer

    they are super user friendly!

    (I prefer ant, meself)

    Good luck and cheers!

you could always go to Gary's site and buy directly from him, so he gets the dosh, yano :)

  • @GGiblet YEAH i just knew a few sites recently but thanks

  • he doesnt sound human...thats pretty cool

  • wow doesn´t really sound like gary numan at all

  • Gary, you are still pure pleasure to my ears......

  • It doesn't matter who influenced who. Point is; Gary Numan is awesome. Can we move on now?

  • GARY NUMAN=FENÔMENO, ADMIRO ELE DE MAIS

  • i love numans earlier music but his newer stuff just sounds over produced, generic riffs, sounds and lyrics

  • brilliant / numan at his best.

  • I love this electronic tunes !!!

Man, this is some great background music :)

  • no manchesss!! esta genialisima esta cancion!! la ame de inmediatho!! i love gary!! yeah!

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman I am sure you are just asking a rhetorical question, but for anyone else, the answer is because he is a good person as well...

  • It's funny to listen to his old stuff, then listen to something like Pure. When did he start hating jesus so much? I love it.

  • @shaolinskater Yeah did Witnesses keep coming round to his house or what? But they do that to everybody!

  • @shaolinskater You can't really hate a character whose existence you don't believe in.

  • @shaolinskater Apparently, Gary's wife miscarried and it was pretty traumatic for both of them. The end result was the dark turn in his music - very dark. Check out the song "Prayer for the Unborn" - that really kicks the crap out of you when you listen to it. Follow that up with "Little Invitro." The man's pain is almost overpowering.

  • @the567thDoctor Man himself overpowers us. Guy rides around creating music going on 40 years now, yes I remain aware of the history of him, his wife, etc. None of my business. I cannot be saved, not by you, not by God?

  • @shaolinskater The day he found out Jesus was made in the USA

  • Is it me but has Gary Numan gotten better after he lost his New Wave sound?

  • I dont know too many other musician/composers who have evolved the way Gary has. The man is a legend, having achieved more(musically) than most ever hope to.

  • the world needs more gary numan

  • @reptilianism420

    That is so true.

  • like this lots thanks Numan

  • This song rocked so hard live it was ridiculous.

  • I love this. I'm an old Numanoid from age 8. This song really brings back the old angst. Beautiful. I have my tickets for next week. I'm so geeked. BTW. OBVIOUSLY Numan influenced NIN...and Korn, and a million other bands. Anyone with doubts should listen to "The Pleasure Principal " album. Then there will be no debate.

  • This guy is really incredible. Just...wow. This music speaks to who I am as a person. I've never been able to say that about anything.

  • god, gary numan just....AHHH! hes so wonderful! love him!!!

  • seriously Gary, you need to be scoring films!

  • I consider myself a fan of Gary's early more synth-based stuff Replicas thru Telekon but this song is awesome. Even though some of his late 80s and 90s stuff wasn't so amazing (which he admits to), powerful music like this nearly 30 years after he started Tubeway Army proves he's always been a music genius.

  • this song lives up to its name. it haunts me still !!!

  • Glad to hear that Gary is still sounding amazingly current.

The way he sings this track sort of reminds me of Nirvana and the main melody & keyboards sound quite a bit like Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence.

Nonetheless, i love the mood of this entire song.

  • I acquired this CD a while ago thanks to your influence, PureExile, and I adore every single song on it.

  • @SorceressZila :o)

  • GARY NUMAN-an ICON!!!his music makes your darkside visible.pure, dark lyrics with

attitude.every song takes you on a personal trip inside your soul.nr.2 after JOY DIVISION.and he speaks for his own.MINDMUSIC for INTELLIGENT people.you MUST fear your thoughts to survive!!!!you don`t??you LOSE!!

    greetz from vienna

  • That chorus is such a powerful hook.

  • just discovered this song.. and numan really.

always knew cars.. which i dislike. but this is GREAT! fkng A!

  • shades of Millenium by Killing Joke. not bad.

  • Wow...Though I had to wait for his earlier stuff to grow on me a bit more...I'm liking this straight away. Awesome! :D

  • Very negative song about a failed relationship, at least that's my take...

All I lived for, takes me away from you

  • Gary Fucking Numan.

  • Excellent song, from one of the world's best artists.

    Gonna get the album. Definately.

  • Just realised my new riff is influenced by this. Didn't realise at first XD

    Was happy though!

    Amazing song! :D

  • sexy vocals me love

  • Another top 'anthem' by the genius that is GARY NUMAN !!! love it !!!

  • dude if you dont like the music dont stay long enough to post a comment, thats your opinion some ppl like this music to go fuck yourself cause your crap comments are unessisary and really gay

  • @MrBox009 - You know what else is UNNECESSARY? Calling people "gay" as an insult. :(

Btw, I know you weren't talking to me (obviously).

  • @TheVengefulTortoise I have no problem with gay people BUT it has turned into an insult and no-one can stop it as every knew genarotion catchs on. I didn't meant to sound offensive by using that word choice and will try my best to refrane from using it.

  • @MrBox009 - I really appreciate that. I understand, also, that I may have overreacted. Thank you for your response :)

  • I think Pure was a good album but I understand your point. Jagged wasnt that good except for maybe In a dark place

  • passa il tempo ma il genio rimane!

  • numan is an icon simple as that

  • I grew up with this sort of music but never appreciated how good it was back then, beats todays Plastic, photofit made to order shit all day long...

  • it was only like 4 years ago....

  • Outstanding! great soundtrack music as well as dark industrial...just awesome!

  • Love jagged, such a great album.

Its like great mix of electronica, industrial and rock. Love the new Nine Inch Nails and Saul Williams albums too.

Also their is a great new dark electronica act called AllFlaws.

Keep the deep, dark and profound alive

  • absolutely a fantastic piece of music...

    what a chorus...what a structure

    -outstanding-

    cheers from germany

    and i cannot be saved...;-)

    numanhuman

  • This song makes me cry... but in the nicest way possible! It's just so beautiful! x I am so so SO honored I got to watch it live a few months ago. I was in awe! :D

  • AWESOME GARY -- GO FOR IT!!!!

  • He was never gone. He's just ahead of this timeline. And those who love his music are too.

  • Comment removed

  • A well deserved comeback!!

    We love you gary!!

  • the next anti x factor song!!!! for 2010

  • Is it me or is that the same background sound at the very start from 0:08 to 0:25 as the 'Quake 4' Xbox 360/PC game main menu ambient music?

  • wow amazinggg

  • I have always liked his music and the way he develops his sound. Super!

  • i like this better than his old stuff

but my dad has been a fan since gary started out nd says his new stuff is crap :S

  • The first bit sounds like Driving From The Top Down from the Iron Man OST

  • dont get your comment following his followers ...and please dont say like NIN

  • so your boasting about a friend that ALMOST. lol and why is that something to be so proud of and why enter that when this is about gary numan and music. freak.

  • Tell us the story

  • @perfectdruginc

Hahahah what a slut. Hahahahahhahaha "my friend almost fucked Trent Reznor, and the rest of the world" hahahahahah.

  • JAGGED. Excellent album.

  • Musically and lyrically complete.

When Gary Numan gets it right he's an emotional Exocet, er, upgraded :D

  • luuuuuuuv this song!!

  • Sorry but I feel as though i must state the obvious....

Gary had been around since the 70's. He influenced NIN not the other way around.

  • After years of ridicule in the press, Numan found himself cited as "the godfather of electronic music" and an artist respected by his peers, with such musicians as Dave Grohl (of Foo Fighters and Nirvana), Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails), and Marilyn Manson proclaiming his work an influence and recording cover versions of old Numan hits.

  • I.L.M.P....

i agree, wouldn't it be great if he was given something like a life time contribution to music award.

he's worked continuously since the late '70s & deserves recognistion.

  • @cjem67 true he definitely makes life better with his tunes =) like damn what a bunch of drivel at least there are some good bands to inspire =) will I ever live to see a day when radio stations are cool enough to play awesome stuff like this? I hope so

  • @ILikeMeProductions and Fear Factory's Burton Bell

  • @MagentasTurn damn right

  • @MagentasTurn as much as I like Gary Numan, I must say there's a bit of give and take. NIN is obviously influenced by Numan, but by the time his sound became more industrial oriented he was already a fan of Nin Inch Nails too...

  • awesome song!

  • This the 2nd Numan song that I herad.Like this song better then Cars.

Where can I buy this cd?

  • Follow the Store link on Gary Numan's official website, NuWorld. They ship internationally.

  • @amazingJohn61 - Ironically, this is also the second one I've ever heard lol. My first was "Dead Heaven", though.

  • really? wtf
