  • I SAY THIS TO SLOTHS: "WORK SHALL SET YOU FREE."

  • @tintin8ify On behalf of the sloth community we find this news to be devestating.

  • incredible raptor.

  • loool german :D

  • Fred : John ? Where is Leo? John : Chilling on a rope Fred : Where? John : above you ^^ Fred : Oh i see him , YO LEO! Leo : Yo mat.....HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT John and Fred : O.O John : They killed Leo! Fred : You bastard! Eagle : Looks back , "wut?" Fred and John : *Gone*
  • birds are dinosaurs

    eagles are birds

    harpy eagles are dinosaurs...

dinosaurs are back baby!! oh yeah!!!

  • poor sloth

  • Does anyone know what the English translation for the German at the end of the video is?

  • (loosely): with it's almost 2 m wingspan, the harpy eagle takes away its bounty with no difficulty.

  • Cool, thanks!

  • @platetectonics that's correct

  • @Chuchunezmi yeah i can translate, the german said the eagle went to his nest and fed his baby birds a meal, but they didnt have the salt and pepper to flavor, lol

  • Schwupp und weg war es, aber hat sich nochmal ganz schnell bewegt!!

  • @malo310809 shutup speak english u idiot

  • Based on the documented measurement taken by Blas Tabaranza Jr. Director of the Terrestrial Ecosystems Program of the Haribon Foundation.

Harpy eagle - 900.75 mm or 0.90075 meter (average lenght)

Philippine eagle - 1021 mm or 1.021 meter ave. lenght

From the tip of the bill to the longest tail featrher.

    Longest individual specimen:

    Harpy- 964 mm

    Phil Eagle- 1121 mm

of all the 7 external measurement Haribon tops 5 while Harpy got only 1.

Conclusion: Harpy eagles dont reached 100 cm.

  • does the harpy eagle at least reach almost 100cm? what is the body length of the harpy? thanks!

  • wikipedia you son of a bitch

  • fuck u!! i think u have not heard that people can change info on wikipedia and write shit of their own!! so just keep your fuckin mouth shut! u faggot cunt!!!

  • Then you might ask google you motherfucker.

  • BEAUTIFUL BIRDS

  • Wow! The talons are huge!!

  • All i can say is they both magnificent Eagles but the Harpy is more fierce and definitely more powerful!!!

The Crowned in Africa comes close with reputation for killing monkeys and even little children who come too close....DEA SERIOUS!!!

A friendof mine once saw a full grown inpala carcass on a Crowned nest which prob weighs 45 pounds!!!!

  • Philippine eagle can lift far heavier prey than Harpy eagles which only means It's more powerful!

Crowned eagle even the largest female which can weigh up to 4 kg can lift only up to 3 kg of prey weight and it's much smaller than the Harpy and Philippine eagles.... YES it can take Larger prey even larger than Harpy eagle's prey which are available to it's homerange But it can lift no more than 3 kg of prey weight.

  • Wallacetic, could u pls tell me more about the philippine eagle carrying more heavy pray then the harpy, cause on record(i don't know if u heard) there was a harpy eagle that carried a heavy monkey that weiged about 14.9 kg! thanks!

  • The Harpy eagle's HEAVIEST prey carried on record was a 17 lb Two-toe sloth and a 15-17 lb red howler monkey.... there are no 15 kg monkeys in Central and south America... Old world monkeys are far heavier. There is only one specie of monkey in the Philippines, the long-tailed macaque which weigh 4-6 kg and large males can weigh up to 9 kg or 20 lb.

The Philippine eagle has a documented record found on it's nest a 14 kg or 30 lb Philippine deer cervus; carrying a monkey on one leg in Cagayan.

  • the talons of a harpy is almost 5 in. long. and the wingspan is short, but has a very large wing area to give it the lifting power. the philippine eagle seems to have the broadest wings of any eagle alive today. a long tail is needed for flight control. the phil eagle has more longer legs then a harpy, but the harpy has the biggest talons. Haast's eagle was a giant forest eagle that had a 3 meter wingspan. that was short for the eagle's size but was perfect for flying in the forest canopy.

  • actually the harpy eagles wiegh over 10kg (in females) and there talons are actually larger than a grizly bears it can carry off orangatangs. but its nothing compared to a haast eagle

  • Harpy eagles and orangutans never crossed path in the wild...so it's impossible for harpy to carry orangutans and they are too heavy for any eagle specie to carry one. Harpy can lift only a third of it's own body weight it's heaviest prey taken/carry-off so far was a 17 lb red howler monkey.

Philippine eagle can lift far heavier prey than Harpy eagle It has the largest wing surface-area among all the living eagles capable of more powerful lift than any other living eagles..

  • Harpy Eagles can definitely carry off animals more than 1/3. Do you realize most Harpy Eagles weigh 18.4 pounds? 17 pounds is far greater than that.

  • Yup! But it can only lift 3/4 or 75% of it's equivalent body weight...meaning 18 lb female can lift up to 12 lb only. Though Harpy is a bit heavier than Philippine eagle 17.4 lb but it has the largest wing-surface area among all the living eagles capable of more powerful lift than any other eagles. Steller's sea eagle has the Longest wingspan 7-8 feet.

  • i hate sloths

  • Sundays'- over

  • the philippine eagle is ONE of the worlds biggest eagle but it only has a larger bill and longer legs then that of a harpy. the stellers are the biggest of the fish eagles but may lag behind other measurements of the harpy. the harpy is the bulkiest and has broad wings like the phil eagle. the fact is that phil eagles wings are abit longer then the harpy eagle. but the stellers on average, has the longest wingspan and bill of any other bird of pray

  • Biologists recognize the significant difference among eagles: some are built to hunt in the tight confines of a forest, while others are designed to soar high above open plains and water. Like the Harpy and Philippine eagles they are rainforest eagles their wings are short in wingspan for their size but broad with rounded edge wings. An adaptation when flying, hunting with great speed and agility in dense forests which can also fly almost vertically in thick foliage.

  • one female harpy eagle on record wieghed 12.9 kilogram, but i have not heard a stellers wieghing more then nine and a half kilograms.

  • There was a recorded 28 lbs full belly female Steller's seaeagle far heavier than "jezebel" the captive female Harpy eagle which is nothing but a fat or overweight Harpy which cannot represent the true weight of Harpies in the wild or a weight that can never be achieved in the wild.

  • The Philippine eagle is the LARGEST in terms of SIZE or Physical dimensions...meaning the TALLEST, LONGSET (from the tip of the beak to longest tail feathers) has the broadest wing! not the longest wingspan (Stellers and Golden are the longest in wingspan) Has the longest tarsus averaging 145-150 mm compare to Harpy's 121-125 mm long...Largest beak comparable to Steller's beak in height... much larger than Harpy's skull and beak alomost 3 times bigger.

    Source:Haribon/Largest eagle in d' world

  • An unverified record exists of a huge female, who apparently gorged on salmon, having weighed 12.7 kg (28 lb).

    Source:Wikipedia

  • the harpy and the stellers are BOTH the HEAVIEST eagles alive today. the philippine eagle is the TALLEST eagle, not the largest on how wide it is. the philippine eagle's wingspan is only 10 cm longer then the harpy. but harpy eagles have the largest talons of any eagle alive today. that is what i am trying to say to u.

  • The philippine eagle is not the largest, but the tallest. it is 1 meter in hieght and wieghs 8 kilos. the harpy on the other hand is not tall like the philippine eagle, but it has talons larger then a grizzly bear, it has a large wing area and it wieghs an incredable 9.5 kilos like the steller's fish eagle.

  • Nope... Steleers sea eagle by far the HEAVIEST averaging 15-20 lbs a much impressive 28 lbs female was recorded. The Philippine eagle is the Largest in size it has the largest wing surface area the broadest among the living eagles and longest legs nad claws plus a much larger skull and sharp large bill almost 3X the size of Harpy's bill.

  • I quite like sloths

  • Steller's Sea Eagle is certainly in the top three in size and power along with Harpy and Philippine.

  • Crowned eagles & Harpy eagles have shorter wings-for fast acceleration.

White fibers & fast twitch/explosive muscles.

Birds with larger wings don't rely uses then in the same manner-dirrent muscles power larger winged birds....

  • They are all on the same niche a forest dwelling eagles almost the same habits in hunting, feeding and even in rearing eaglet; evolutionary convergent, adapted the same taste for mammals...driven by natural selection for reproductive success in tropical forests more likely they have the same wing structural design only the Philippine eagle is larger in size coz' it has no other rivals as the top predator the dominant hunter in the Philippine islands so it grew big unlike the two eagles.

  • hey hey, look in books, the harpy eagle is considered to be the most powerfull bird

  • hey, check out! of which eagle has the largest prey taken and carries off; Philippine eagle 30 ib deer VS Harpy eagle's 15 lb red howler monkey, which do you think is more powerfui?... Golden eagle is even more stronger than harpy! see the video of it taking a moutain goat to its nest.

  • Harpy is the strongest

  • Wrong dude! coz' Harpy eagle can only lift 3/4 of its own body weight about 5-6 kg...Golden eagle is far more stronger and the Philippine eagle is the most powerful eagle taking a 14 kg deer up to its nest, even attacks a large python. read more!

  • its talons are stronger than any raptors.

Golden eagles aren't stronger than harpy's.

GE need the wind to land & lift large prey

actaully-pound for pound, the crowned-hawk eagle is the strongest. The ratio of its size to the prey it takes on average is larger than any other eagle-prey ratio.

10lbs Crowned eagles can kill 80lbs antelope & 40lbs monkeys.

Most eagles don't take prey over 10lbs on avergae(even the golden & the Harpy)

  • Of course any eagle can do the same (killing large antelopes) only if those large prey are available in tha ecosystem they live in But the problem is there is no prey that big in other places like in the Philippines, monkeys, pythons are only the largest prey witha few deer and wild pigs. What Im talking about is the lifting capability of the bird... Phil. eagle has the largest wing surface area among all the living eagles; It can take/carry off heavier prey than the Harpy and crowned eagles.

  • nope-only the Crowned hawk eagle can lift prey equal to its own weight. 10-12lbs.

NO other eagle does this b/c the Corwned eagle takes proportionatly the largest prey on a regular basis.

Wing surface does not equate to power. its the type of muscle that the bird relies on.

  • It does my friend larger wing area stronger lift, lifting power Crowned eagle is no match to Philippine eagle and Golden eagle it has relatively short and small wings compared to the Philippine eagle - the largest prey it carries off a 30 lb Phil. cervus deer all the way to its nest. Souce:Threatened Birds of ASIA

  • lift is based on THE WIND-NOT MUSCLE FIBER

all forest raptors are stronger than similar sized raptors.

    Goshawk>Redtailed hawk is one example

no-no eagle can lift over 10lbs-I can tell you're way off. Gliding downward with the wind is not the same as flying upward with prey.

Both Harpy & Crowned eagle have much thicker more massive talons than ANY other eagle.

This is the net-go look it up instead of making assumptions....

  • Philippine eagles hunts in dense forests not in open woodlands it didn't glide like you were saying... Large eagles can lift prey weight up to 40 lb. if they glide like the golden eagle in the video and the muscle wings were unable to bear the weight of the prey they won't be able reached the nest they will fall like a brick...so far the Philippine eagle has the largest recorded prey it carries off to its nest a 30.8 lb deer a lot stronger than Harpy & crowned eagles.

  • Crowned eagle can kill a large prey (duikers) up to 35 kg. Its staple diet consists of monkeys (particularly the genus Chlorocebus) and other medium-sized mammals), such as the Cape Hyrax and small antelopes but can lift prey weight no more than it's own body weight.

The Philippine eagle is one of the most powerful birds on earth and has a grip 3 times the strength of the STRONGEST MAN on earth.

  • crowned eagles grip is more than 3 times the strongest man. They kill by puncturing the skull of antelopes and monkeys...

  • Yeah right! It can't even catch amouse-deeer lol...there's no way it can puncture a the skull of an antelope! especially with horns; a small monkey maybe, crowned eagles claws are way too small to hold grip on antelopes skull with 115 mm to 120 length of legs? compared to Phil eagles 145-150 mm long.

C'mon!! there's no way it can be stronger even with the Golden eagle!

  • Over all the Philippine eagle is the most powerful eagle and one of the most powerful birds on earth. It even attacks a large python the most agressive and longest snake in the world.

  • The Philippine eagle is the TOP PREDATOR of the ecosytem they live-in just like the Haast's eagle of New Zealand. NO bears or large cats like tigers or lions, they have the Philippine islands all to themselves.

that's why they grew so big they evolved from a small serpent eagle like.

  • nah, there r a lot of different opinions on the three eagles. harpy, philippine, and stellers. its depend on if you r talking about wingspan, weight, feather size, talons beaks, ETC

  • Yup!...I agree and in my opinion overall the Philippine eagle is the best for me; Lenght from the tip of the bill to the longest tail feathers avergng 95-112 cm, standing over 3 feet (tallest eagle), longest tarsus (legs)ave.145-150mm and long sharp claws, largest wing surface area, beak-comparable with the steller's eagles beak in size; deep-arch large prominent bill (50 x 70 mm), comparable in weight with the Harpy eagle averging 18-20 lb.

  • The largest and most powerful eagles on earth? I would go for the Philippine, Harpy and Golden eagles. They can carry off larger prey.

  • Yeah! watch the video of the crowned eagle taking a small monkey, It can barely fly with a 1-1.5 kg of prey.

Crowned eagles - Length is 80-95 cm (32-38 in), the wingspan is 1.5-2.1m (5-7 ft) and body weight is 3.2-4.1 kg (7-9.1 lbs) So it can lift no more than 3 kg.

  • that monkey is a vervet which can weigh an excess of 20lbs. Much heavier than the eagle

not saying the one in the video was 20lbs-buton any given day its prey can range from 5-35lbs.

Golden eagles rarely tackle animals over 10lbs.15-20lbs deer fawns being exceptions

Not saying they can't kill large prey under certain conditions-but it is not common at all...

  • Crowned eagles & Harpy's have the thickeststrongest talons-& they fly the fastest.

Also-Crowned eagles can take off vertically with prey in closed forrest...

  • FYI Philippine eagle, Harpy and African crowned eagles are all forest dwelling eagles they do the same, able to fly almost vertically adept in snatching prey on trees w/o cutting flights and could reach a speed of 80 kph their wings are short with rounded edge but broad an adaptation for quick turns flight maneuverability in dense forest. Philippine eagles has the longest (tarsus)legs and claws averaging 145-150 mm compare to harpy's 120-125 mm and crowned eagle's 115-120 mm.

  • yeah-but the actualy feet of the crowned and Harpy are much thicker than any eagle. Crowned eagle take prey much larger than any phillipine eagle....

  • Largest recorded prey by eagles in the wild.

Golden eagle lifting a 6.8 kg or 15 lb mule deer

Golden eagle- taking a mountain goat up to its nest. Harpy eagle- taking a 6.5 kg Red-howler monkey in Guyana in 1995 and Philippine eagle- taking a 14 kg or 30.8 lb cervus deer in 1985.

Crowned eagle?- a small monkey so far!

  • Correction; (Largest prey that the bird able to lift and carries-off)The 6.8 kg mule deer lift was for the Bald eagle and not golden eagle; however this was taken as a carcass by the Bald eagle.

  • I didn't "lift" any thing-it had to soar downward.

Eagle aren't that strong. Its not even possible in physics for a 15lbs bird to fly with a 30lbs animmal.

It makes no sense. No need to argue with folks who don't know this!

  • I'm not arguing, I'm just stating the FACTS and I never made it up... It's all documented you can check it out, that's what I've been telling you... READ MORE!

    Source: Threatened Birds of ASIA

  • And among these 3 forest eagles the Philippine eagle has the largest wing area or has the broadest wings, longest squared off tail for flight control in quick turns and navigating the dense forest. probably the quickest more agile than Harpy and crown eagles as it was described by ornithologist & biologist as quoted "The structure of the eagle (its goshawk-like appearance) is an adaptation to allow high maneuverability during sudden rapid attack.

  • Harpy's & Crwoned eagle hane shorter wings. Which means they are even better suited for rapid wing beats than ANY large winged eagle.

    C'mon now....

Harpy's are the strongest eagles overall

even the Haast eagle is described as being like a crowned or Harpy eagle....

  • C'mon now... I'm not the one who said it!

It's the bird experts, "The structure of the eagle (its goshawk-like appearance) is an adaptation to allow high maneuverability during sudden rapid attack." Phil.eagles looks like more of a GIANT goshawk! You know how fast a goshawk can fly... there's a footage in youtube on goshawks.

  • The reason why its called a "hawk-eagle" is b/c it is more similar to the true hawks ie "accipiters"-short winged, long tailed forrest raptors.

The Phillipine eagle may live in the forrest, but it has LARGE/LONG WINGS, more owl/buteo like than accipiter like....

Crowned eagles have the strongest talons lbs 4 lbs!!!

    HArpy's are strogest/thickest overall

    shorter wings=faster flight in raptors...

  • it soared downward-it didn't fly upward

not the same thing at all...

  • check the net out on harpy eagle why argue when you can find your answers out ,all who said harpy are indeed right everyone else FUCK OFF LOL

  • Yeah right! check out the LATEST info and you'll find out that the Steller's sea eagle is the largest in weight and the Philippine eagle is the largest in size...it surpassess the Harpy eagle in terms of external measurements.

  • try searching the latest documentary about the philippine eagle at the national geographic magazine. you can surf it on the net to see the video and photos.

  • Pretty amazing, anyone else notice this fella carried it's prey with one talon? You may have been too busy arguing.

  • blur, it seems that you are a philippinese patriot, that's OK, but let's stick up tu tune TRUTH? ok? harpy and crowned african eagle are by far fiercer and way more powerfull than philipppine eagle. Check out and study more carefull the eagles.P hilippine eagle holdas some records involving lenght, of feet and body anad wing surface too, but that's all...

  • We should just stick to the FACTS with supporting documents and not making such an incredible stories...imagine a teenager weighs as much as 60-80 lb lift by a medium-size eagle that weigs no more than 5 kg.

Harpy's largest prey weighs 15-17 lb a howler monkey, Bald eagle 15 lb deer and Philippine eagle 30.8 lb deer cervus taken all teh way to it's nest in 1985 Studied by Robert S. Kennedy. have a nice day eagleman!

  • Philippine eagle is the most powerful eagles, It holds the record for the largest prey taken and carry-off to it's nest a 14 kg or 30.8 lb Cervus deer and It even preys on a large python, small dogs and pigs.

    Source:Threatened Birds of Asia

  • no guys...harpy has the largest and strongest feet. not the 2 others!

  • Not at all my friend, crowned eagle has the record of lifting the largest weight, check out guiness book, and a 11 years old boy and a 14 years girl are almoust teenagers ! Regards !

  • That's rediculous! watch the other video of crowned eagle taking a Chlorocebus monkey it can hardly fly with a merely 2.5 kg of weight. Crowned eagle weighs only 3.2-4.1 kg

It can take large prey, yes! but it can only lift up to it's own body weight. It's wingspan is only about 5'7" It doesn't even reached 6 feet..Sorry! but it's not possible!!!

  • african growned eagle is unbelivebel but is the most powerfull eagle, despite it's smaller frame is more ferociuys then these 2 big lazy eagle. crowned eagle has the recored for frequently catching the largest pery among all eagles, and in severeal cases human remains of childs and teenagers have been found at it's nest...

  • It may be most likely that this child and (not teenagers) was eaten as carrion rather than actually killed by the eagle.

Because small children looks like the shape and size of monkeys which are the eagles favourite prey!

  • African crowned eagle has the most powerful grip in reltion to it's body size but overall the Philippine eagle is the most powerful it could lift/carry-off haevier and prey than the crowned eagle or even Harpy eagle.

  • African crowned eagle has the most powerful grip in relation to it's body size but overall the Philippine eagle is the most powerful it could lift andcarry-off haevier prey than the crowned eagle or even Harpy eagle.

  • SHUTUP ALREADY!! The harpy is the MOST SAVAGE eagle nest to THE AFRICAN CROWNED!!!

  • Philippine eagle still the best and most beautiful eagle, Harpy can only lift 1/3 of it's body weight. Overall the Philippine eagle is the most powerful eagles, It holds the record for the largest prey taken and carry-off to it's nest a 30 lb deer and even preys on a large python.

  • it never had a chance...lol

  • i no dam shut the fuck up

  • have u seen the size of the harpy eagles claws, and the harpy eagle would out monuver the Philppine eagle

  • Yes...up to 13 cm hind talons with thick powerful legs 121 mm long however The Philippine eagle has a much longer powerful legs 145 mm & sharp claws that could almost encircles a human neck and can exert a pressure grip 3 times the strength of the strongest man on earth. The largest wing area among all eagles species and lighter in weight 8kg & Harpy 9kg...Hence it's more agile than Harpy eagle!

  • yup..nothiNg coMpares to PHILIPPINE EAgle..here in phillipines this kind of eagles can bring down even a wild dog that tries to go near its nest

  • I wouldn't leave a kid unattended near either one of them. A modern day Turru the Terrible!

  • I agree w/u large eagles can lift a prey up to 40

    lbs.

  • Fucking eagle! still no match to PHILIPPINE EAGLE in terms of size power and beauty...PHILPPINE EAGLE is still the BEST...and still the "KING OF THE BIRDS"

  • the philippine eagle looks like the harpy. it's just that the philippine eagle is brown and the harpy is black.
