Hey, You might remember me as the person that asked you to make another machine to sell to me. lol. anyways I Just bought an old DDR extreme Machine that I will be upgrading to OITG. I will be using the itg3 theme and want it to look itgish as possible. I was wondering if I could get the high resolution decals you used so I had something to work off of. Thanks!

a couple of questions, would you be ablke to post about how to wire/build this? and also the total cost? (im not gonna build THIs exactly but i wanna try to make a machine)
@MutantX123 I unfortunatly don't have time to make a full set of detailed instructions. Check out the website (look at the video info) for a link with some information.
Wow! I somehow want to make a sarcastic remark, but I am blown away by your game and the fact that you can play it. I thought I was watch a scene from grandmas boy!! :)

@beware2 Mine are made out of Lexan, however Arcrylic has also worked (I made a set for a friends ITG machine). As for the decals, read the "decals" part of the website. (Hint, really large two sided tape)
@pumperalaka Thanks! Yeah, Doubles with bar I think looks silly... I have no problem with TOUCHING the bar for support once in awhile on harder songs... (or to pull yourself up using hands) but those that have the death grip on em... just look funny...
@bjgoateeguy What about people like Joel? I know he uses the bar but he destroys things... Maybe his scores are so mind blowing that I don't really care about the bar...
We have a pretty shitty ITG machine here in israel. its a pc based and even after restart it takes 2-3 seconds(!!!) after you hit an arrow for the system to register it. even inserting a coin takes a 3-4 seconds for the system to acknowlenge :-(
@bjgoateeguy The arcade operator replaced the pad sensors and its still not working properly. the pads are also very noisy when you hit on em. Kinda like plexiglass or cheap plastic. too bad there is no maintenance whatsoever on that machine :-( 5 years ago, the founders of the israeli ddr community converted a ddr extreme machine to stepmania machine.
The plexiglass panels I got custom cut at a plastics fab shop here in the city... I then designed the decals in photoshop, and then got a graphics company here in the city to print them on backlit sign material and reverse mount them onto the panels.
For the metal panels, I designed a blueprint for all the panels in a CAD program... then sent it to a metal works shop, where they laser cut and bent everything for me.
@bjgoateeguy i didnt know how to put it but when i said 'pad boards' i meant the motherboard under the top right panel (on p1) and top left (on p2). the motherboards that receive inputs from the panels and send the info to the cab
@chewbaccarules *points to the website link in the description* INPUT is 2 - IPAC2's, one in the pad, one in the main cabinet... LIGHTS are controlled by a PACDRIVE.
@bjgoateeguy well i have an old Pump it up cab that isnt running anymore, and i wanna put a PC into it and then run open ITG, a Jpac would allow the machine to run using all original pad and light wiring and then all i would have to do is build the PC part of things i think..any hints would be appreciated
@araparap Did you post on BR already? I seen the post... and FYI, a JPAC won't let you control the lights. JPAC is only an INPUT device, not OUTPUT. You would need to use a PacDrive for Lights... (in which case you would also need a relay board, OR switch to LED lighting, since well... The lights in there will blow the PacDrive board, they take too much power.)
@bjgoateeguy i did post but no one had replied, and then my brother found your vid ages ago and thought i would try you.
i really just wanna get the machine running as basic as posible, not really fussed about the lighting, i mean its just PIU, but i would like the machine to run as best it can using mas much as the original hardware...Shrug, the other option i have it buying the PIU pro 2 upgrade...so more or less seeing what would be cheaper and easier haha
@bjgoateeguy kool thanks, yeah i probably could have found it but i couldnt be bother looking through the forum, but thought it was easier to just start a new thread...my brother who i think contacted you ages about about it, is my techno savy bro is the one who does wiring and all that i just do the installing and try the programing haha thanks for the info, will let you know who it goes
@araparap So just an FYI, one way to annoy people in a forum is to post something asking about things that have already been asked in a forum. (Which could be why no one answered.) It took me a whole span of 2 min to find those topics. That's WHY we keep the whole back history in there, so you can search for questions people have already asked. Rather than expecting the people there to answer questions again that people have already asked.
@bjgoateeguy i actually thought at first it would not have been there due to it being a ITG/OpenITG related forum and i know so many ITG played that will shrug off anything that isnt ITG, hell they will even shrug off DDR news or just throw it in your face, i just thought people would be happy to help, especially to help somone new, who may not know much about the forum. honnest mistake wont happen again :)
@araparap *laughs* nah it's there... The people there are really good... Thing is, there are a few people that ask questions over and over and over again that have already been asked. and it's just like... "you REALLY want us to explain this AGAIN?!" If they would have searched, they could found the answers in minutes. *laughs* but no worries... (also people could have just been busy, a lot of people on there are in Uni and are crazy busy)
@bjgoateeguy yeah i understand, i think most players tend to be in the uni age group these days, Dance game popularity has really died off in australia, but then again there are only a few small arcades in australia willing to put a ITG cab in place, and most people are tired of DDR and the removal of pretty much every good song, i mean how many times can you play a Konami original...thats why i bought my machine just to run DDR 4th mix lol with such awesome frame rates too
The In The Groove 3 theme I have for my OpenITG is a slight different.. I mean mine's listed as Revision 5, and has Online support and such. Wouldn't that be cool if online worked for your Cabinet? ;)
@RacerPlanetZX1 There are actually a lot of cool things in the version that's being worked on right now... I've seen a bunch of em, not all of the new features though.
@techdawg667 I have no idea what revision mine is, it's one of the latest since I've been testing things out for him... However I'm not allowed to give it out =/ Sorry
@biggoateeguy could you please make a video of the inside of your pad? from the pics on your site it looks like you didn't use any sensor brackets. what did you put on top of your sensors?
@mrjimmy2o9 I don't have a video camera, once I do I'm going to make some more videos.
On some I do have brackets on some I don't... *laughs* (I've been testing a few different ways of sensor actuation. Which is more reliable, etc.
On some I just have a piece of foam stuck to the plexi, and raised the sensor up a bit... (so just removing the bracket out of the equation entirely) Makes more sense in my head. They can't fall off if they're not there.
OMG! OMG! OMG! u made legend......awesome custom made ITG 3 machine.......from this point of view....it looks even better then the real arcade version.....SO THAT MY friend u own a subscribe from me
hey man great vid, i am very impressed at the machine that you made. I would like to see more of it, i know alot of my friends do too lol i just think its amazing that you made that. its also sad that itg will never offically happen becasue of konami, keep up the good work on keeping itg alive.
@wtaylor2003 Thanks bro, I don't have a videocamera, which is why I haven't posted any more videos... So when I get my white iPhone 4 I'm planning to get i'll make some nice HD videos of the machine.
Wow wish someone would make one of those around where I live... But on another note... dude you're so fucking HOT!! Haha just had to throw that out there :).
I've played on this machine and it is incredible! Great sound, great pads, sturdy bars, and it loads customs faster than a dedicab because it uses USB 2.0! I love this thing and wish I could buy one of my own too!
Omg i haven't heard of itg 3 since like 2 years...i thought it was just a rumor and i thought it was just made in an experimental form made by fans...but i think you can bring itg back to life....u don't know how much i hate fucking konami and its lame DDr machine with fucking J-pop songs... Hwy but are you planning to commercialize or distribute that machine when it's finished because you could make your own company... BTW i live in venezuela and there's a lot of people who would like itg back
@evilcarlosfidel *laughs*, If I went to commercialize this machine, Konami would be after me like crazy. I don't need a lawsuit. (Konami now owns the rights to ITG 3). So you won't be seeing any of these machines from me heh.
I'm a somewhat new ITG/DDR player in Edmonton and was curious about where I could go to purchase a metal DDR pad for use in my home with one of my consoles.
I've tried searching around but can't find anything. Do you know of any good places that would sell one?
how much did that custom cab all cost? ooh HD TVs are NEVER good for dancing games due to polling rate and screen lag. Most people settle with CRTs because it's much better. btw what's the polling rate for this machine?
But there is no lag issues with the screen. (I've had several 'hardcore' people play on it, and they've all said it's great). Modern HD screens have faster image processors now, that have eliminated that issue... (as long as you don't use a VGA cable, and you use a DVI/HDMI cable to avoid analog/digital conversion lag)
@bjgoateeguy Polling rate means how fast the pads responds when you hit the arrows. ITG had a really bad polling rate compared to DDR cabs. Like when you hit the arrows, It had a 15milisec delay on the ITG pad.
@FlipP36o Polling rate is how often the USB drivers poll the USB device (in an ITG machine it would be the ITG/IO board). The 15 ms delay would be your 'lag' or 'delay'. However... ITG (and OpenITG) and ALSO stepmania can account for THAT lag... making it totally non-important. (It's impossible to have totally 100% instantaneous input. But it can be adjusted by this "GlobalOffsetSeconds=-0.012" (Straight from the actual ITG theme) So that lag doesn't matter at all since you can account for it.
I want one! I have been wanting a dedicab but cant find any for sale. Is there anyway I can pay you to make me one like yours? how much would it cost?
Great job, Your blog does not contains the pad informations. So I ask my question here. How is the base made? Wood base with steel above it? Or is it all steel weld together? I'm especially talking of where your switch are sitting, they're sitting on wood or on metal? Thanks in advance for your answer
@alkirah It's a wood frame... a 2x4 frame to be exact... (approx every 11 inches) basically under every panel edge... and all the top metal pieces are bolted to it. It's 14 Guage Steel, and with the 2x4's put on edge... It's really sturdy...
@bjgoateeguy that's what I tought when I saw that black band around the pad.
One more question if you don't mind ... how did you managed to get the tv always on when plugged? Like a real arcade machine? Or you have to turn it on with the power button / remote control every time you want to play?
Nice! I was actually looking myself to make a cabinet. ;) Doesn't seem /too/ hard! Of course, those are famous last words.
On a more or less off-topic note, how much do you weigh? You seem so light yet with a very firm step. I can never seem to get the sensors on the machine at the mall to detect my steps, and I'm thinking it's because of weight. A curse of a 90-pound 17-year-old. xp
@Gamekid321 Ooops, missed replying to this one... I'm 145 lbs... Really it depends on the pad, if it's maintained, I don't think you should have an issue playing. (But well, most aren't properly maintained heh)
@bjgoateeguy Ah, yeah, I kinda figured it was that. One day when I went to my local arcade the buttons didn't work so well anymore. I mentioned it to the manager but it didn't seem to phase him, saying something like "No, dirt doesn't do anything" or something like that.
Thanks, I'll be sure to keep mine in tip-top shape!
It actually does look like a real In The Groove arcade! You did a really nice job. I want to make a DDR arcade, I have a arcade in my house, its a Mame cabinet.
@emeryDH I actually have a MAME cabinet as well... it was 2 player when I got it, switched it over to 4 player... Was a custom cabinet from the place I used to work. Good luck on the DDR cabinet if you ever decide to make one. And thanks =[D}
Nice video, and impressive machine. I've been wanting to build a cabinet for a while now, but it always seemed like such a daunting task. I had no idea where to start, but, the website is very informative, and it really makes me want to build one myself. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to share your design with everyone.
@mattaproductions I unfortunately don't have a set of blueprints... since i changed things after the blueprints were made, etc... so they're not accurate... (and I would HATE for someone to take em and try building something with mistakes, etc)
I'm working on a website for people to look at and give details on what I did... and it may even have a paypal donate link if you find my information helpful ;) haha...
Hey there, awsome vid and to be honest, that actually looks like a professional design. I like how it looks. Any ways, I was wondering with the pad, how do you get the buttons connected to the machine and have the joy mappings set up? Also how did you get those sensors set up?
@DDRguyz It's connected to the 'Boxor' using an Ultimarc IPAC... and I just programmed the IPAC with the default OpenITG (Stepmania) keyboard settings.
Honestly, as for the sensors... look at the pictures of the inside of a arcade pad... I set it up exactly the same... using arcade sensors, arcade sensor holders, etc.
@bjgoateeguy Yeah, I use OpenITG cause of video lag in StepMania. Thanks for the help man, was wondering if you had MSN or some sort of messenger? If you do then mabye I could tell you the progress of my machine I'm planning on building.
omg make us like 5 of these machines :x. iowa needs this. oh also question. you used a flat screen right? im not the biggest fan of flat screens, as they have at least some form of lag. is the responsiveness that of say PIU pro?
@jojomexi *laughs*, 5 machines? eh, that'll be 50K or so ;)
Um yeah, I used a flat screen. However...
1) Use HDMI / DVI not VGA, that way there is no digital / analog signal conversion
2) Use the exact resolution of the TV (decreased needed processing time to scale the image)
3) It's a newer TV... TV's now have fast enough image processors that it really doesn't matter... I don't notice any lag... and i've had other people play on it, and no one has noticed any lag either.
@bjgoateeguy ohhh sounds like a legit response :]. so just out of pure curiosity, if someone ever wanted you to make machine like what you have there, how much do you think you would charge? (of course it could vary, just a rough shot estimate as far as part costs+ labor fees :D )
@jojomexi *laughs*, HONESTLY... I don't think I'd want to make another one... one was enough ;) Making another pad... maybe... but making another cabinet, ugh...
HOWEVER if I had to pick a number... Prolly go for around 8K... It's not cheap to build, and it's a _LOT_ of work.
@bjgoateeguy just askin because we are down to 1 itg machine in iowa, usb ports are faulty, bars are wobbly, and not much faith in the place that has it lately. are you running 2.0 usb ports on this? jw. and if i can get a chance at getting another place to get with ITG, i would love to have a cab like this rather than a hard-to-find dedicab anymore. are your pads sturdy as arcade cabs? and do they feel equivalent? if so i could inquire to a few places, and see if they would buy one from u4 10k
@jojomexi Honestly... I don't have the materials, NOR the money to build one right now... and yeah, they feel exactly like arcade pads... As for being sturdy... it is a wood frame... However, it's a SOLID wood frame. Doesn't flex or move, or anything. The metal panels are all 14 guage steel, and the panels are the same 1cm thickness as an arcade pad, using arcade sensors, in the same setup as an arcade pad... I have no idea about holding up to muddy feet, etc though...
@bjgoateeguy nono, i wouldnt ask of you to build one first! it was a hypothetical question. what im saying, is if i could get a place to pretty much say "heres 10k" and then you would use that for materials etc lol. and as far as durability im just saying like a standard everyday arcade use. why someone would play in muddy shoes idk but i would kill them :x. also, were you the one that made the purple decals for the dedicab?
@jojomexi I worked at Playdium for 3 years... you WILL have people come in... play in muddy / dirty boots... wet boots... You'll have people in high heels, and other weird shoes, and barefoot... and everything in between... You'll have people slam / hit / kick games... etc... Arcade games need to be able to put up with _ALOT_ of abuse. So I dunno about arcade use... and yeah, I made the purple ITG 3 decal set.... FYI, if you want to chat on AIM or MSN or something... message me with yours.
...You're a legend dude. I tip my hat to you. I could only DREAM of owning an ITG machine *wish I did*, let alone build one that could even hold a candle to that. It'd make the guys at RoXoR proud.
@bjgoateeguy Ooohh, I see that. Nice!.. Although, I kinda want to slap him for some of those steps.. Many hours of frustration. Ugh. No joke though, if something ever happened to Konami and ITG could be continued, I'd want to see something just like this. That's a beautiful machine in every sense of the word. What do you plan on doing with it once finished? Personal use, selling, renting to an arcade or what?
I have been interested in building this entire thing and would love and appreciate if you finished your website so I can be the coolest kid in the world, like you! :)

nice work overall, but some details give away that it's self made:
- the bars are bolted on. they should be going into the pads, and be fixed internally, or underneath.
- the sides of the pads are open, they should have an outer edge.
- the pads cannot be separated (center area is continuous). real pads can be for logistic reasons.
- my pet peeve, everyone gets this wrong: the little circle arcs in the arrows don't form a circle together, they form a broken circle.

I know I've asked before, but would you be willing to sell those custom panels? How much would it be for a full set of 8?
Darkshadow512 1 year ago
I'm wondering how you made the pads
chewbaccarules 1 year ago
@chewbaccarules That's a broad question. It's basically modelled after an arcade pad.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy well im not asking a question actually. However i am curious on where you bought all the parts for the pads. Especially the pad boards
chewbaccarules 1 year ago
@chewbaccarules "The pad boards", what do you mean?
The plexiglass panels I got custom cut at a plastics fab shop here in the city... I then designed the decals in photoshop, and then got a graphics company here in the city to print them on backlit sign material and reverse mount them onto the panels.
For the metal panels, I designed a blueprint for all the panels in a CAD program... then sent it to a metal works shop, where they laser cut and bent everything for me.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy i didnt know how to put it but when i said 'pad boards' i meant the motherboard under the top right panel (on p1) and top left (on p2). the motherboards that receive inputs from the panels and send the info to the cab
chewbaccarules 1 year ago
@chewbaccarules *points to the website link in the description* INPUT is 2 - IPAC2's, one in the pad, one in the main cabinet... LIGHTS are controlled by a PACDRIVE.

@chewbaccarules Also, look in the details of the video, I have a link to a website that details some of the stuff...

would i be able to do this with an old PIU cab? using Jpac jamma and using a theme for pump it up on open ITG?
araparap 1 year ago
@araparap Can you do it? I have no idea about your technical background... Is it possible, yes.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy well i have an old Pump it up cab that isnt running anymore, and i wanna put a PC into it and then run open ITG, a Jpac would allow the machine to run using all original pad and light wiring and then all i would have to do is build the PC part of things i think..any hints would be appreciated
araparap 1 year ago
@araparap Did you post on BR already? I seen the post... and FYI, a JPAC won't let you control the lights. JPAC is only an INPUT device, not OUTPUT. You would need to use a PacDrive for Lights... (in which case you would also need a relay board, OR switch to LED lighting, since well... The lights in there will blow the PacDrive board, they take too much power.)
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy i did post but no one had replied, and then my brother found your vid ages ago and thought i would try you.
i really just wanna get the machine running as basic as posible, not really fussed about the lighting, i mean its just PIU, but i would like the machine to run as best it can using mas much as the original hardware...Shrug, the other option i have it buying the PIU pro 2 upgrade...so more or less seeing what would be cheaper and easier haha
araparap 1 year ago
@araparap Honestly I'd read though the forums there.. I'm SURE there are other posts about PIU...
Heck, OpenITG supports PIU/IO and ITG/IO (pretty sure it does) so you should just have to plug it in, and it'll work for the most part.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy kool thanks, yeah i probably could have found it but i couldnt be bother looking through the forum, but thought it was easier to just start a new thread...my brother who i think contacted you ages about about it, is my techno savy bro is the one who does wiring and all that i just do the installing and try the programing haha thanks for the info, will let you know who it goes
araparap 1 year ago
@araparap So just an FYI, one way to annoy people in a forum is to post something asking about things that have already been asked in a forum. (Which could be why no one answered.) It took me a whole span of 2 min to find those topics. That's WHY we keep the whole back history in there, so you can search for questions people have already asked. Rather than expecting the people there to answer questions again that people have already asked.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy i actually thought at first it would not have been there due to it being a ITG/OpenITG related forum and i know so many ITG played that will shrug off anything that isnt ITG, hell they will even shrug off DDR news or just throw it in your face, i just thought people would be happy to help, especially to help somone new, who may not know much about the forum. honnest mistake wont happen again :)
araparap 1 year ago
@araparap *laughs* nah it's there... The people there are really good... Thing is, there are a few people that ask questions over and over and over again that have already been asked. and it's just like... "you REALLY want us to explain this AGAIN?!" If they would have searched, they could found the answers in minutes. *laughs* but no worries... (also people could have just been busy, a lot of people on there are in Uni and are crazy busy)
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy yeah i understand, i think most players tend to be in the uni age group these days, Dance game popularity has really died off in australia, but then again there are only a few small arcades in australia willing to put a ITG cab in place, and most people are tired of DDR and the removal of pretty much every good song, i mean how many times can you play a Konami original...thats why i bought my machine just to run DDR 4th mix lol with such awesome frame rates too

@biggoateeguy could you please make a video of the inside of your pad? from the pics on your site it looks like you didn't use any sensor brackets. what did you put on top of your sensors?
mrjimmy2o9 1 year ago
@mrjimmy2o9 I don't have a video camera, once I do I'm going to make some more videos.
On some I do have brackets on some I don't... *laughs* (I've been testing a few different ways of sensor actuation. Which is more reliable, etc.
On some I just have a piece of foam stuck to the plexi, and raised the sensor up a bit... (so just removing the bracket out of the equation entirely) Makes more sense in my head. They can't fall off if they're not there.

BTW i live in venezuela and there's a lot of people who would like itg back
evilcarlosfidel 1 year ago
@evilcarlosfidel *laughs*, If I went to commercialize this machine, Konami would be after me like crazy. I don't need a lawsuit. (Konami now owns the rights to ITG 3). So you won't be seeing any of these machines from me heh.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy
You can rename it to "Incredible To Dance 3" with free music on the machine to commercialize it!
sergioperez794 1 year ago
Wow! That's a great machine.
I'm a somewhat new ITG/DDR player in Edmonton and was curious about where I could go to purchase a metal DDR pad for use in my home with one of my consoles.
I've tried searching around but can't find anything. Do you know of any good places that would sell one?
RizwanZZ 1 year ago
@RizwanZZ Honestly, I think the only place you could get one (a good one) is online... however shipping / handling are high...
But, DDR/ITG isn't as popular as it used to be... Possibly if you looked in Chinatown... stores such as Lucky 97 downtown... and the such.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
how much did that custom cab all cost? ooh HD TVs are NEVER good for dancing games due to polling rate and screen lag. Most people settle with CRTs because it's much better. btw what's the polling rate for this machine?
FlipP36o 1 year ago
@FlipP36o Cabinet cost around 5K
And, what do you mean by 'polling rate'?
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy Polling rate means how fast the pads responds when you hit the arrows. ITG had a really bad polling rate compared to DDR cabs. Like when you hit the arrows, It had a 15milisec delay on the ITG pad.
FlipP36o 1 year ago
@FlipP36o Polling rate is how often the USB drivers poll the USB device (in an ITG machine it would be the ITG/IO board). The 15 ms delay would be your 'lag' or 'delay'. However... ITG (and OpenITG) and ALSO stepmania can account for THAT lag... making it totally non-important. (It's impossible to have totally 100% instantaneous input. But it can be adjusted by this "GlobalOffsetSeconds=-0.012" (Straight from the actual ITG theme) So that lag doesn't matter at all since you can account for it.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
if you kept making these i would totally buy one

zoikoi 1 year ago
Great job, Your blog does not contains the pad informations. So I ask my question here. How is the base made? Wood base with steel above it? Or is it all steel weld together? I'm especially talking of where your switch are sitting, they're sitting on wood or on metal? Thanks in advance for your answer
alkirah 1 year ago
@alkirah It's a wood frame... a 2x4 frame to be exact... (approx every 11 inches) basically under every panel edge... and all the top metal pieces are bolted to it. It's 14 Guage Steel, and with the 2x4's put on edge... It's really sturdy...
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy that's what I tought when I saw that black band around the pad.
One more question if you don't mind ... how did you managed to get the tv always on when plugged? Like a real arcade machine? Or you have to turn it on with the power button / remote control every time you want to play?
alkirah 1 year ago
@alkirah Um, it just does that... I don't turn it off... so when the power comes back on, it comes on...
Some TVs do, some don't... It's an LG.... so maybe all of em do that... You could test it in store before you buy it.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
A curse of a 90-pound 17-year-old. xp
Gamekid321 1 year ago
@Gamekid321 Ooops, missed replying to this one... I'm 145 lbs... Really it depends on the pad, if it's maintained, I don't think you should have an issue playing. (But well, most aren't properly maintained heh)
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy Ah, yeah, I kinda figured it was that. One day when I went to my local arcade the buttons didn't work so well anymore. I mentioned it to the manager but it didn't seem to phase him, saying something like "No, dirt doesn't do anything" or something like that.
Thanks, I'll be sure to keep mine in tip-top shape!
Gamekid321 1 year ago
It actually does look like a real In The Groove arcade! You did a really nice job. I want to make a DDR arcade, I have a arcade in my house, its a Mame cabinet.
emeryDH 1 year ago
@emeryDH I actually have a MAME cabinet as well... it was 2 player when I got it, switched it over to 4 player... Was a custom cabinet from the place I used to work. Good luck on the DDR cabinet if you ever decide to make one. And thanks =[D}

So how did you get the TV to display a game, is it just a computer inside with stepmania, or did you accutally program a stand alone game?
Are there any graphics or music that was not confirmed that are in this? Did you design it to your liking, or get from something else?
How much was it to make all of this?

mattaproductions 1 year ago
@mattaproductions I unfortunately don't have a set of blueprints... since i changed things after the blueprints were made, etc... so they're not accurate... (and I would HATE for someone to take em and try building something with mistakes, etc)
I'm working on a website for people to look at and give details on what I did... and it may even have a paypal donate link if you find my information helpful ;) haha...
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
Hey there, awsome vid and to be honest, that actually looks like a professional design. I like how it looks. Any ways, I was wondering with the pad, how do you get the buttons connected to the machine and have the joy mappings set up? Also how did you get those sensors set up?
DDRguyz 1 year ago
@DDRguyz It's connected to the 'Boxor' using an Ultimarc IPAC... and I just programmed the IPAC with the default OpenITG (Stepmania) keyboard settings.
Honestly, as for the sensors... look at the pictures of the inside of a arcade pad... I set it up exactly the same... using arcade sensors, arcade sensor holders, etc.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy Oh nice. Thanks for the help. I got one more question. How do we go about getting lights set up with a custom machine?
DDRguyz 1 year ago
@DDRguyz Using a PACDRIVE from Ultimarc. Google PACDRIVE ITG, and you should come up with what you need..
However you NEED to use OpenITG software for your machine, Stepmania won't work. it doesn't have the code to support the PACDRIVE
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy Yeah, I use OpenITG cause of video lag in StepMania. Thanks for the help man, was wondering if you had MSN or some sort of messenger? If you do then mabye I could tell you the progress of my machine I'm planning on building.
DDRguyz 1 year ago
omg make us like 5 of these machines :x. iowa needs this. oh also question. you used a flat screen right? im not the biggest fan of flat screens, as they have at least some form of lag. is the responsiveness that of say PIU pro?
jojomexi 1 year ago
@jojomexi *laughs*, 5 machines? eh, that'll be 50K or so ;)
Um yeah, I used a flat screen. However...
1) Use HDMI / DVI not VGA, that way there is no digital / analog signal conversion
2) Use the exact resolution of the TV (decreased needed processing time to scale the image)
3) It's a newer TV... TV's now have fast enough image processors that it really doesn't matter... I don't notice any lag... and i've had other people play on it, and no one has noticed any lag either.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy ohhh sounds like a legit response :]. so just out of pure curiosity, if someone ever wanted you to make machine like what you have there, how much do you think you would charge? (of course it could vary, just a rough shot estimate as far as part costs+ labor fees :D )
jojomexi 1 year ago
@jojomexi *laughs*, HONESTLY... I don't think I'd want to make another one... one was enough ;) Making another pad... maybe... but making another cabinet, ugh...
HOWEVER if I had to pick a number... Prolly go for around 8K... It's not cheap to build, and it's a _LOT_ of work.
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy just askin because we are down to 1 itg machine in iowa, usb ports are faulty, bars are wobbly, and not much faith in the place that has it lately. are you running 2.0 usb ports on this? jw. and if i can get a chance at getting another place to get with ITG, i would love to have a cab like this rather than a hard-to-find dedicab anymore. are your pads sturdy as arcade cabs? and do they feel equivalent? if so i could inquire to a few places, and see if they would buy one from u4 10k
jojomexi 1 year ago
@jojomexi Honestly... I don't have the materials, NOR the money to build one right now... and yeah, they feel exactly like arcade pads... As for being sturdy... it is a wood frame... However, it's a SOLID wood frame. Doesn't flex or move, or anything. The metal panels are all 14 guage steel, and the panels are the same 1cm thickness as an arcade pad, using arcade sensors, in the same setup as an arcade pad... I have no idea about holding up to muddy feet, etc though...
bjgoateeguy 1 year ago
@bjgoateeguy nono, i wouldnt ask of you to build one first! it was a hypothetical question. what im saying, is if i could get a place to pretty much say "heres 10k" and then you would use that for materials etc lol. and as far as durability im just saying like a standard everyday arcade use. why someone would play in muddy shoes idk but i would kill them :x. also, were you the one that made the purple decals for the dedicab?
jojomexi 1 year ago
@jojomexi I worked at Playdium for 3 years... you WILL have people come in... play in muddy / dirty boots... wet boots... You'll have people in high heels, and other weird shoes, and barefoot... and everything in between... You'll have people slam / hit / kick games... etc... Arcade games need to be able to put up with _ALOT_ of abuse. So I dunno about arcade use... and yeah, I made the purple ITG 3 decal set.... FYI, if you want to chat on AIM or MSN or something... message me with yours.
