Why do they flash different then?

@blunklaura in therory they alternate, but there are so many Belisha Beacons here that some flash together and some dont.

So those flashing lamps are meant to warn cars of pedestrians and not simply for lighting?

I think what Edwing77 meant is what is the point of the flashing lamp? Isn't it enough with just the zebra crossing as a warning?
