Rolling Synthesizer-Arpeggios also here, such "Endless Waves", really... I like also the Spheric Synthesizer-Sounds. I know, why I have favourited this very nice Video...
The Wavestation is a one-of-a-kind. Even the Wavestation on the Oasys can not even come close. The SR sounds the best but you will need to obtain an EX or AD to be able to vector with the stick. The Masterbits sound cards contain the absolute best programming for this unit.
I´ve been having troubles with my wife for spending hours and hours playing and programming sounds on this amazing mchine.I´.ve got an AD workstation and oh man,it.s easy to fall in love with it!!!
it is also aoutboard effects processor. really good in my opinion. and it have one more bank than a wavestation keyboard...so, yeah buy a a/d...i got one and it's SICK!!!!!!!!!!
buy the wavestation survival kit off ebay...its worth it...tons of patches.
You're like a database of cool hardware synth sounds. Thank you so much for posting all these videos, and keep them coming! I'm bidding on a JD800 today--wish me luck!
Hi: Looks like I'm buying a WS 1 for $200.00. This would complete my setup. I have analog, analog modeling , FM linear, FM sampling, and now FM Vector. This seems like a very interesting synth...Love sweeping filters etc. Question: have you ever had to replace the internal ROM battery?
I have had to replace the RAM battery on my KORG WS1. It is quite easy though. All you need to do is flip it upside down, unscrew all the screws, move all the dust out of the way and there it sits in plain sight; a CR2032 lithium battery, available at your local store that sells many kinds of batteries.
I just bought an A/D, lets see. Is midi syncable so good enought. Pitty I believe I can not control the filters in real time :s But I have too many Rolands (D50, JD800, JV90) and I needed a different texture bad.
If I'm not mistaken, Korg bought the rights for the wave from Sequential Circuits's Prophet Wave, or something like that, when S.C. went bankrupt. If this is true, then this Korg wave is a semi-Prophet with ex-Prophet technology. A bit like Arp buying the Siel Orchestra and calling it the Arp Quartet, or Rhodes buying the Arp Chroma and calling it the Rhodes Chroma.
So this is perhaps the last "Prophet" before Dave Smith's re-creations....
Dave Smith from SCI the inventor of the legendary Prophet VS vector synth developed the Wavestation as advanced vector synth for Korg. But the two synth are very different.
Beautiful!! This would make a fantastic movie soundtrack. Reminds me of a David Lynch movie (who was that italian composer again..?). IMO a synth soundtrack like this one creates a much deeper and more emotional atmosphere than an average John Williams -style orchestrated soundtrack (which in today's films and video games nearly all sound alike). Keep up the good work!
Wow, Retrosound! You rule! Great soundscape and perfect quality in stereo .. the chord sequence is .. appropriate to show this amazing piece of hardware!
This must be the gayest sounding synthesizer on earth.... yet I just bought one :-)

suuuppergeil! freu mich extrem über die schnelle antwort vielen dank ;)
war vielleicht eine etwas leihenhafte frage, aber das hatte ich mich gefragt, weil die sich äusserlich so ähnlich sind.

Yes i did it. Quite easy, but you have to backup ALL the internal memory, or you gonna lose your sounds.

Wonderful...
What are the differences in comparison with the Wavestation SR?
myrmur 2 years ago 2
the SR has no vector stick and the user interface is shit but the sound is a little bit better
retrosound72 2 years ago
So is there something SR can do and EX (your version, right?) can not?
myrmur 2 years ago
I have my EX sold for 6 years. I have only the SR today.

I had a wavestation, very powerful machine.
I kind of regret selling it but it was very
difficult to program. I wish Korg would introduce an updated version of this synth with a knob interface.
