I am a Filipino-American, born and raised in the Philippines. I would have loved to see Miss Philippines win the the crown. But let's face it...Miss Botswana outshone her in the final elimination round. While Misses Spain and Philippines stumbled with their answers, Miss Botswana elevated the topic by giving an abstract response. She delivered her answer eloquently and with conviction. Mpule Kwelagobe deserved the 1999 Miss Universe crown.

Honestly she won Miss Colombia pageant because she was high class and her mother partipated in that pageant too. The best one was the one who ended as first finalist Paulina Galvez, but she was delegate of an state that is not very important in Miss Colombia and also because she was middle class. In Miss Universe 1999, as you see, nothing happened with Colombia, but in Miss International Paulina won the title after 39 years.

The stage really had festive atmosphere especially being held in the Caribean.Austria, Bonaire, Botswana, Chile, Cook Is, England, Hong Kong are missing from 2007 pageant. Miss Universe has certainly started to lose its popularity with fewer contestants each year.
