  • Has anybody won the maximum of $100,000 in five days on Double Talk?

  • September 12, 1986 is the airdate here.

  • The show was not aired in many markets for syndicated programming and some stations like WCVB aired Ryan's Hope at 11:30am instead of 12pm so they could air local news at noon.

  • @dxtrfn80 in 86, Double Talk in my area was on @ 10:30 am on Channel 5 WOI-TV (Ames/Des Moines, IA), and then Ryan's Hope @ 11 am and Loving @ 11:30 am, I have a TV guide from 86 to prove it.

  • Theme music same as "Blankety Blanks" from 1975. Puzzles similar to 1977's "Shoot For The Stars". Color scheme matching then-current CBS "Pyramid".

  • Like Pyramid, this show disliked male contestants.

Houston didn't have this series due to Donahue. However, it was only seen once during a rain delay of the NLCS (Houston Astros @ New York Mets).

  • He might do good.

  • How do you think Henry would do as host of the new $1,000,000 Pyramid? He played the game so well, and I would think he would make a great host. Better than Tim Vincent or Dean Cain, probably part of the reason CBS did not buy the new show.

  • Well, CBS is doing another pilot for Pyramid, we'll see what happens.

  • BF:

You Are My Greatest Buddy, My Most Wonderful Pal, You Are My ____ ______

  • Easy Ilene, there are worser days.

  • Henry Polic II later went on to host a pilot of an Eye Guess revival called Eye Q? He also announced for the Davidson version of $100,000 Pyramid.

  • I watched Henry Polic II on "The $100,000 Pyramid" and he was very good as a celebrity.

  • They sure liked to use the McCain/Growing Pains font on this show!

  • and the font used on this show is also used on another Henry Polic ABC show in "Webster" (the 1st 3 seasons of that show in particular) as well.

And coincidentally, reruns of Henry Polic's other ABC show in "Webster" replaced this show. And in a nutshell, Henry Polic II is one of the few GS hosts to do two or more projects for the same network in a given season. The other I can think of is Ahmad Rashad when he hosted "Caesar's Challenge" and the "NBA on NBC" for NBC.

  • Ahmad also did Inside Stuff on the weekends as well...

  • and so did Shop 'Til you Drop during it's Lifetime days! And Also High Rollers '87.

  • This is a realy great show. GSN should get the rights to air this.

  • This show is part of the Bob Stewart library that Sony owns, so GSN could get the rights to this if they wanted to. They have actually aired this show before, but only two episodes: The premiere episode with Betty White & Stuart Damon, and an All-star ABC daytime soaps episode.

Also, Ilene Graff & Howard Morton were just two of five celebrities who did this show more than once (2 times to be exact); the others three were Stuart Damon, Teresa Ganzel, and Barry Jenner.

  • Cool, thanks for the info.

  • Rather than saying what Ilene said for "Your Bath Is Ready", I would have said, "Your water is RUNNING".

  • I think Ilene got confused because she thought the initials were "YSIR" which would refer to "Your Shower Is Running."

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • they would have buzzed you for saying "Your" :p

She said "You're dirty" so they didn't get her for that.. The judges were good to not get tripped up on that, but alert enough to catch "ready"

  • Was the way Henry Polic II gave out those white roses on the Friday show a trademark he used throughout the series?

B/c I also remembered him giving out 200 roses to the staff on the series finale.
