In the entire Led Zeppelin catalog, Kashmir is the Crown Jewel. There is nothing else like this tune, unsurpassed in the history of rock and roll and all music.
To both top comments: yeah his name was John Bonham. He went threw tom skins during shows. Strongest drummer ever. But he's just breathing. I think that was his magic. A unique 100% natural drummer. He was never complex. He was born with it. Metronome precise as well. I measured it. But foremost just plain fun! PatronSaint210 is totally right.
If you're starting out on drums this is an awesome song to play to get your movements down and really comfortable with playing. It's such a simple song to learn, but you feel so bad ass playing it haha.
Jimmy Page said he put this song together with John without Paul or Robert. The power of just those two main instruments, guitar and drums created one of the bands greatest songs.
I got the Physical Graffiti double LP album when it was first released, and the ENTIRE ALBUM is just about as good as this song. This song is definitely a stand out, for sure, but listening to it in context is even better. Best album from the best rock group of the 70's. Enjoy!! BTW Kashmir is actually a contested region between India and Pakistan, not in Egypt as someone mentioned below. =)
first full song i learnt on guitar, when i play the main riffs out loud with my beuaty amplifier they called the police and said to them Led Zeppelin is next door lol

@Mortifago, I have a broad knowledge of music and I have never herd of any of them bands. Kashmir was recorded and released in early seventies and its still being played today weather on here or on radio, there are way more positive comments than negative and its still a quality song. These "bands" you have mentioned will die of death soon and their music will die with them, cause they write different music to bands i mentioned. Sellout music. Pure crap. Just for money.
@fleckey299 you a claim a broad knowledge of music but haven't heard of Dream Theater? They are pretty well known. And there ARE bands creating great art. (Not claiming Dream Theater is one of those). You just won't find it on the radio majority of the time. You're looking in the wrong places my friend. Get your head out of the sand man. BTW I LOVE Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles etc. to death.
Bands nowadays make music to make money whatever sells they make it. F**king sellouts. Zeppelin, queen, Ozzy, stones, beatles make whatever music they could, f**k weather it sold or not they just enjoyed it! Zeppelin is prime example only selling albums, dont get me wrong they loved the money, they just loved music and girls. I wish i was born in that era and not be 28 in this era.

That we are unable build a band like Led Zeppelin anymore, lets us all know that the West if falling into a cesspool of its own corruption & moral filth.
@Rorschach65 Not to be a dick, but not all of Zepplin's stuff was as original as they would have you believe. Many of their classic songs have borrowed lyrics, guitar riffs, or both, and without the necessary acknowledgements of the creators. Not to take away from the band at all, but it's totally true. Look it up.
What drives this myth that Led Zeppelin somehow "ripped off: old blues masters is the hypocritical multiculti narrative of the left. If a white guy pays homage to the blues greats, he is "ripping them off," but if a black rapper samples from rock music, like Jimmy Pages, for example, he is an artist. Well, just like literature, music is not created in a cultural vacuum.
@Rorschach65 I wasn't trying to start anything, but take Stairway to Heaven. The beginning guitar riff, maybe the most famous song opening in history, is not original. They took it without credit; not from some nameless blues man, but from a band they opened for when they started out. And stealing is different from sampling; if you sample, credit is given to whomever you sampled from. Unless you're Vanilla Ice.
@Monkeyfro4 Are u refering to the band spirit? i read that, i never heard their song ,but what did their guitar riff do for themselves? not an argument but this shit is getting old!
@MegaZephead Not quite sure what you're trying to say; but let me say this: stealing is stealing, even if the person who you stole from wasn't using what you took
@Rorschach65 led had to be sued by willie dixon in 1987 to get back millions of dollars back from the song he wrote for muddy waters call you need love
Alright, you might have a valid point. Never heard that claim before. But you have to admit that they are extremely talented musicians. I've never heard anything before like Kashmir in rock history. Immigrant Song stands out as unique, as does No Quarter, Battle of Evermore, they may not have invented every genre they played in, but they were still pioneers. Synthesizing art forms is its own type of genius.
In Keeping the Song ALIVE,I am standing Like a Monument,Burning the Fire of Hope,In the candles of Wind,i seek shelter Oh Kashmir My Mother land i miss you ,in the Hands of Doves that spread peace,i long to see you Once, again free Peaceful and full of Honesty,
