  • The 70's Movie wasn't so good but when I saw this one, it was Amazing! It had my favorite actors: Freddie Highmore had Amazing Talent in this film, and Johnny deep..... Jesus Christ, He Was INCREDIBLY FUNNY! LMFAO!

  • When I first seen this trailer, I got friggin' Excited

  • I remember being in 3rd grade & I was glued to the T.V. praying that this trailer would come on, because I was so obsessed with Willy Wonka. (Only because I thought he was sooo cute) I always freaked out when the trailer came on. :) I still think Johnny Depp as Willly Wonka is sexyy ;) He's sexy in general.DUH! Excellent movie

  • veruca salt, is she played by danny from cimorelli?

  • haha that kid at 0:11 looks like Lars Ulrich

  • Oh, I really miss this movie.

The spoiled kids, the candy, the Oompa Loompas, Johnny Depp hitting his head on stuff every now and then...

    *sigh*

  • I hate Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp. However, this movie is awesome.

  • 0:42

  • lol yeah this is much closer to the original plot except for Count fucking Dooku checking up his teeth.

  • 0.42 scary face haaa

  • can you make charlie and the chocolate factory 2 in 2013

  • I first read the book when I was 7 years old... the 1st movie came out when I was 10. I remember being disappointed in the movie when I first saw it, mainly because the Wonka character (though wonderfully played by Gene Wilder!) didn't capture at all the character I'd imagined from the books, and the oompa loompas, were just way wrong. This version, "rapes" the Wonka character even worse - though loompas were a 'tad' better - I'd have loved to have seen (when he was alive) maybe George Carlin.

  • @JamesSCameron So you don't like either one??

  • @AliceElphabaWonka No, actually I grew to become very fond of the original; mainly because Gene Wilder was (in my opinion) such a wonderful actor & did this role (as most all his movie roles) with such passion. As a kid, though, I felt a bit betrayed by the story I loved so dearly not being (what I felt) 'true' to Dahl's book. The Slugworth character and Jack Albertson as Grandpa were pretty well portrayed.. as was Verouka, Violet, and Augustus Gloop. (but Charlie stealing the gobstopper??!)

  • 0:30 "ew!"

  • Lets boogie 0:07

  • I know most people have a different opinion, and that's fair enough but I still prefer the older one from 1971. I don't know why, I guess I just prefer Gene Wilder's take on Willy Wonka...

Plus I think the actors were more realistic but that's just my opinion ^^

  • 0:32 sounds like augustus farted! lol

  • this is my fav kids film! oh and the gene wilder classic

  • I liked this better than the original.

I thought Johnny Depp was sexy even as Willy Wonka :P

  • xDD I can't help but love the part when Johnny says "chewing gum is really gross: shewing gum i hate the most..." and it's a guilty pleasure of mine to watch him smack into the clear flying elevator over and over.... ROFL

  • i just love 0:13 it is soo cute

  • love it

  • God, I'm so tired of everybody saying this is a remake of the old 70's movie, it's not a remake, it's an adaption of the original book, it's actually a better adaption than the old movie, this one is much closer to the acutal story han the old one, which changed almost everything in the story. And the kids in the old movie couldn't act, but the kids in this new movie can. And Johnny Depp is an awesome actor! XD

  • couldn't agree more,Niobesnuppa. Much, much truer to the original Dahl book, and (on a personal level truer to what I imagined as a kid in the 70s when reading it).

Didn't like the Wilder version AT ALL. This isn't fantastic, but (tech aside) vastly superior. And Depp is magnificent as always.

  • Right. And LOL, you heard that Gene Wilder got really pissed off at Tim Burton and Johnny Depp for making a new version of the story? xD He said something that all they cared about was money why else would they "remake Willy Wonka?", then Johnny Depp said that it wasn't a remake, it was another adaption of the book and that it was made 'cause they weren't satisfied with how the old movie had changed everything in the story.

  • Depp had it right then!

  • Yeps! ^^

  • I was a little kid when I first saw the 70s version, and I was very aware I was just watching a movie. I was 20 when I first saw THIS version, and I believed it as it was happening. *lol*

  • @Bobzeaux

    LOL, same here. xD

  • @Niobesnuppa this one is shit. The old one was more like the book. They couldn't do the squirrel scene cos they had a low budget and no computer. And the old will wonker was way better. Johnney depp is a great actor but the way tim burton made him out was gay. So i think the old was better. Also this had a ton of gay family shit in it!

  • @crapfactoryfilms Exactly how was the old one more like the book? Have you even read the book?

And this one has tons of "gay family shit" in it? And the old one didn't? *Sarcasm*

  • @Niobesnuppa I KNOW!! And I don't understand people who claim that the old 70's movie is "closer" to the original book. Its like are you kidding me?? Visually Burton's film looks closer like the boat, it has the squirells, the oompa loompa song lyrics are the same from the book, and in the book Wonka wasn't quoting Shakespear all over the place like the 70's one. Plus, the tone: it's a children's book, so it has to have a crazy feel.

  • @Niobesnuppa I disagree.. because if a book is made into a movie & the movie becomes a classic (say: "The Wizard of Oz" with Judy Garland... or "Gone with the Wind") any movie that follows the same storyline would have to be considered a remake (that's my take on it, anyway). Just like when they made "The Wiz" with Diana Ross & MJ, it was an entirely different sort of movie, but it had the same basic storyline (premise) to it, so I'd have to consider it a remake; yeah. It's debatable, sure..

  • @JamesSCameron Can't really say I agree with you on that. That would mean that every Snow White movie made after 1937 must be seen as a remake of the old Disney movie just because they're based on the same story. And let's not forget that the "remake" is actually more true to the novel than the "original".

  • @Niobesnuppa and I beg to differ with you, on it being more true to the original novel.. in some aspects yes; in others, absolutely not. I'll stick by my original definition, but I can (and do!) respect yours or any other opinion - that's what makes the world interesting, I believe. (By the way, Disney's (animated) Snow White IS, and always will be, the one and only original in my book - it too is a "classic". No doubt!) Q: Can there be a remake of a classic that is also a "classic"? Hm..

  • @JamesSCameron But isn't it possible that there are several adaptions of the same story, without anyone being a remake of the other? When this movie was never intended to be a remake of the old one but rather an individual adaption of the same story? It's a bit wrong that the first film adaption is "the one" adaption and all other adaptions must be remakes of that, especially when the author of the novel it's based on actually hated the first flm adaption. But sure, let's just agree to disagree.

  • @JamesSCameron in a way, yes a remake can be a classic. almost every disney cartoon is a rip off of some older movie or story. Beauty and the Beast is a classic and it ripped off an old French movie of a similar name.

  • @Niobesnuppa There's been none to date that I can say that about (remake being a classic as well .. in it's own right... but It 'could' happen I suppose (again, purely my own "opinion" here) ;o)

  • @Niobesnuppa Once again, I can't figure out how people think this movie is closer to the novel then Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory is! The entire half of the movie is focused on the subplot about Willy Wonka and his daddy that wasn't in the book, and the whole entire ending of the movie was different from the book! The 71 adaptation did EVERYTHING accurate to the book. The only thing the changed was the very small Slubworth plot.

  • @SitOnPickle Check it up on Wikipedia. Roald Dahl actually hated the 71 movie because it wasn't true to the novel at all, making everying too fuzzy and cute for his liking (Roald Dahl's novels are always full of dark humor). His family was satisfied with this movie because they felt this was truer to the novel.

  • @Niobesnuppa Dahl hated the 71 version because he was a grumpy old man who is never satisfied with the his adaptations unless it follows almost perfectly the story. What was cute and fuzzy in WWATCF? Yes, Dahl's books are full of dark humor. WWATCF had plenty of dark humor. I don't trust Dahl's families judgement on the adaptation, they're not the author. For all I know, they could have no sense of art. Dahl was ticked off when they changed the ending to Witches, yet Tim's ending is ok?

  • @Niobesnuppa i felt this film lacked soul
