@ImagineHarmony1 - I am sure that I will get bashed & thumbs down for saying this. But, my mom owns a Musical Theater company in Northern California. So I have been in theater my entire life. I'm sorry, but the acting was over the top. & the choreography was... oh my. Just putting cool moves to music isn't enough. The choreography has to fit, like a puzzle piece. It shouldn't look over done. It should look natural. This is no fault of the dancers... just the choreographer.

Thanks for your honest reply. Jenna. Seriously, though ... have you ever seen West Side Story (on stage or the movie)? Just curious. The choreography is based on the original Jerome Robbins choreography. In fact, some of it was taught to the students by cast members of the current revival on Broadway in a NYC workshop. Of this group, only a couple are seasoned dancers. Some of them have never danced.

That is extremely impressive that so many have never danced. Actually we just finished our production of West Side Story. We ran 11 shows. I played Anybodys. I am quite familiar with the musical & have always thought it was amazing. The movie however, I am not a fan of. I am all about the MUSICAL itself. The movie turned the musical into a very unrealistic over dramatic show. I've seen it on Broadway (AMAZING). Again, it isn't the dancers. It's the choreographer.
