It will be rated "R" and Lisbeth will be more violent in the film than the book. It's supposed to be very true to the novel as far as following the story. If it does well at the box office, they will film "Played with Fire" and "Hornets Nest" at the same time and release them one year apart.

This movie is R-rated since the decided to make it...you cant make an adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and not make it R-rated....thats the whole point of the book.....mature content (violence, sex, rape, etc)....CANT WAIT

@LightsCameraAaron I'm looking forward to finding out! Comparing the trailers, tv spots, etc. to the book, this adaptation already looks more brutal and accurate. If you watched the red band trailer, you see that when she's in the shower post-rape, they even show blood coming from her rectum (a description/scene that was highlighted for a few pages in the book, and excluded from the Swedish film). I'm surprised they haven't had to fight people who want this to be NC-17
