I saw nikka at a small bar in Dallas when this album came out. Took my friend who did not have the same music taste as me and this girl blew her away me too by far the best show that i have seen. I was right in the front and the best part of the show is when she did a song that is in the color purple not sure of the name of it but it starts out "Sister". I wish she would do more tours in the south i have been checking every since. I have all her cds.She is just fan fucking tastic

When I saw this performance almost 10 years ago, I thought for sure this girl would become a HUGE STAR. There are people who can't sing live or dance, and have zero charisma or stage presence (Britney Spears, JLo, etc) yet they are rich and famous. If white America wants to give their money to a white R&B/funk/blues singer that badly, why don't they give it to one with talent? Rather than the likes of such fakes as Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone. But, on the other hand, even though Costa is underrated, it's good she's not big in the mainstream, or she'd be making "fake" funk/blues styles like Winehouse or Stone. I saw Costa live this summer opening for Seal, she was great. She's like a funky Janis Joplin. She's got true talent, unlike Stone.

Jewel was the like white Tracy Chapman, nowhere near as talented, but more "pretty," and white. Joss Stone's alright, but she's a funk/soul singer for white audiences. If she were black, she'd be yet another overlooked funk/soul singer. But Nikka Costa's very good at what she does, not just another white singer who's known because she's white.
