  • Can somebody tell me the name of the Brian Jonestown Massacre song that is playing in the background of Dig at 17:06 - 19:03? I've been trying to find it for almost 3 years but they have too many albums to search through...

  • @daveniner it's called "Who" and it's from the album "Take It From The Man".

  • @unholy chunk: " I sneeze and hits come out" was taken out of context. He was actually referencing a conversation in which he was pissed at a record executive and was being facetious. In the film he remarks more than once on their low record sales in the US (while the Dandys were selling quite a lot in Europe, which was a surprise to even them.) You should really not comment when u clearly haven't seen the film. Any discerning viewer knows that trailers are almost always misleading, and take ev

  • Great movies great TV.

  • whats the song called thats being played?

  • @AntZombie121 boys better dandy wahols

  • I know the guy that co filmed this! Yay me!

  • this movie...rocks ! amazing !

  • Why the fuck has this got 10 dislikes? Its the best trailer of the best film ever!

  • Bombs away!

  • 1. anton isn't crazy, he's an artist with uncompromising vision and drug addiction that fuels his creativity but ultimately impedes his ability to succeed commercially.

    2. the dandy's are fine, but with sensibilities of a pop group, they'll not likely stand the test of time -- unlike anton's music.

    3. joel kicks ass.

    4. courtney is in love with anton.

    5. anton is in love with anton.

    6. the film is amazing.

  • Watched, loved it! But all things aside they are both mediocre bands; if they were that good, they would have been bigger....

  • @3296856 download the BJM discography, listen to it all (especially thier satanic majesties second request, and strung out in heaven) and then try and tell me thier a mediocre band. But yes dandys are mediocre.

  • The Dandy's are intolerable hipsters. BJM are the real deal.

  • The Dandy Warhols songs are epic! all clasics and all in my mind for so many years! They are the best at what they do and their career show it.

  • Fuck all this "BJM" is a great artsy band shit and Newcombe spewin off at them mouth about Jesus and the evil record industry...all I know is that "Take it From the Man!" is a boss album! And yes, I did only get turned on to BJM recently by watching 'Boardwalk Empire,' but hey, better late than never!

  • has either band had a 'hit' lately?

  • Antoine Newcomb is a DICK!

  • @captross07 Sure is, and I want to suck it.

  • Miranda Lee Richards is beautiful... Zia Mccabe is hot. You get the feeling Zia would be fucking awesome in the sack though. Anton's a maniac on drugs, who's amazingly talented but doesn't have much self control or perspective a lot of the time. And Courtney Taylor Taylor is a loveable skinny dope fiend, a bit of a douche, but cool.

  • Fun film but what disappoints me about it is by 2003/2004 the music business was beginning to fall apart, disappear, and this film didn't catch on to that. At this point the Dandy Warhols aren't really in that different a place than BJM, as even stars can't sell records or make money doing big tours. For that reason the film seems anachronistic, like it should have been made in 1994.

  • @LucidNation Good to remember.

  • BJM is one of the best and most prolific and original bands out there today and has been for the past 20 years. is one of the few bands that truly understand the concept of "art for art's sake" instead of selling themselves like most succesful bands.

  • i like a few songs but i sneeze and hits come out? k waiting for the next one. been a few years bud

  • who is the girl at 1:48

  • @nolosetodo2

    Miranda Lee Richards.

    A VEEEEEEEEEEEEERY gifted artist.

  • @nolosetodo2 She is H.O.T

  • isn't it funny that the quiet guy from the BJM formed a band that's better, bigger and with 4 records that are better that all of their albums combined, and in a shorter amount of years. I'm talking about Peter Hayes and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

  • hey, it's there any band out there that want to antagonize mine?

  • This film changed my life.

  • Both bands took themselves way too seriously. These self-proclaimed geniuses, revolutionaries, and "hit-makers" got the order of things wrong... u become junkies AFTER you become rich and famous. In the end, I'm reminded why I don't miss being in an aspiring band. It truly turns people into ego-manical monsters. Where are they now? Dandy Warhols barely scraped the surface of stardom in the 90's and BJM self-distructed before they came close. Rightfully so, they never made it big. Thank god!

  • this film inspired me to start a new band and push my music. I've never been happier.

Anton Newcombe, I owe it all to you! We're called The Black Delta Movement, tunes up on the myspace soon!

  • Louder Clip!

  • Its weird to watch this because the first time I watched it I had no idea about either bands.

Now after seeing it over 7 times I can't imagine how this would look through a new pair of eyes.

  • Looking for this movie's torrent, if anyone has a link, please share! thanks :>

  • Is this for real? Are they being douches on purpose??

  • Comment removed

  • @kfarmarco I think the way the film is edited definitely makes it seem that way, but so much of the footage is presented out of context, that I think it's unfair to judge anyone in the movie based on the film alone. A lot of people don't realize that while the DW were filmed for seven years, the filmmakers only really followed the BJM for a few months. Yet the film suggests that the footage of the bands was happening simultaneously. It's a little misleading. Still, it's a VERY entertaining film!

  • there's a part in dig, at about 31:00 where it's hollywood and peter hayes playin (there's a little kid wearing a tie-dyed shirt and drops a toy gun)... anyone know what it's called? or what it is? i love it and i've never heard it (i've heard every album and cd from bjm)

  • is that blood on you?yeah, from what?peoples faces

  • Anton is a douche.

  • @corle1 yea but he was real unlike dandy warhols band all about image tring to be like he and his band lost respect for the dandy warhols band after watching this movie

  • i watch this movie every day and will never get tired of it.

  • great movie about life really

  • Is there a version with italian subtitles to download?I found only the original one

  • any know where the footage @ 2.00 is from ???

  • A VERY PUT TOGETHER DOCUMENTARY LOL!

  • Awesome film. fucking good!

  • love love love Anton, love DiG!, love the bjm!

lifechanging film, I'm still like in another world after I see it, and I've been watching it at least five times. god bless DiG!

  • A life changing film for those who've not seen it.

    Praise Joel!

  • @Yvaluna I looove Joel. Haha

  • @loyaltallie We started a cult in his name a few years ago. :)

  • @Yvaluna

I know puns aren't exactly a religious thing, but can we have Gionism instead of Zionism? Tambourines beside our gospel, shades instead of yamakas, tight leather instead of Sunday suits for all to wear!

    Praise Joel!

  • Does anyone know the song that BJM play at the communist party gig? Been hunting for it for ages but no joy so far

  • It's called 'Slow Burning Chocolate Carnival' but i can't find it anywhere

  • BJM should have more video documentation on youtube because Anton is so facinating.

  • You go burn in hell for pretending to be god and not backing it up.

  • Brilliant documentary. Had heard of but not heard BJM. By the end of the movie I was a fan of the music of Anton Newcombe. The Dandy Warhols confirmed what I had always suspected- dilettantes.

  • BOMBS AWAY!

  • "Is that blood on you?

    Yeah..

    From what?

    .. People's Faces?"

  • That's a total Napoleon Dynamite moment.

  • This documentary is fucking amazing!

  • Maybe you should actually watch it dumb fuck..

  • Comment removed

  • 1:13

  • what means dig in this way?

  • What's the Song in the background?

  • "Boys better"

  • Hey... I just realized that you can't listen to the Warhols playing live in the film...

Well, they are a VERY GOOD studio band... I saw them live, so I find it logical.

The same year, I saw the BJM. They are the REAL THANG, man!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm not about to start combing through comment arguments....just going to point out that i'm not a big fan of BJM or the Dandy's. i think they're both ok bands.....BUT this is one of the GREATEST documentaries i've ever seen.

  • I agree!

  • Storm in a teacup. Signifying nothing.

  • This movie is now free to watch on Hulu.

  • only in america. not outside.

  • The dandys are a fuckin really good band, amazing live. Fuck little indie hipsters.

  • This is the best film ever... Anton is my hero. Ultimate rock and roll. The Dandy's are a bit naff.

    's that blood on you?

    yes.

    From where.

FROM PEOPLES FACE'S..' hahaha 'we are going to take over the world... and we are going to show you how to do it too.' ... man's a genius.

  • No this is a false and deceitful film.

  • how so? im honestly interested to know why you think that.

  • Common knowledge to all who were or are close to either band. Hype and B.S.

  • How do I know this? Been friends with the BJM for years and years and was around when this film was being made - it's pure shite. It's almost all myth from start to finish.

  • So....were they acting?

  • yeah, The Dandy's were followed for i think 7 years or so and BJM were only followed for a couple months to a year, yet the two stories are played concurrently

  • Wow MrDrSmithJr, it must be wonderful to be as cool as you. I'm utterly green with envy.

Leaving aside the obvious argument that quality of music is completely relative by its very nature, I would like to ask you this: Don't you have any better to do with your time than leaving jackass messages like this on YouTube?

Personally, I don't, so please tell me which bands you like, so that I can go to internet forums and tell everyone how badly they suck.

  • you know, you're absolutely right. But I was under the impression that the primary purpose of any music related internet message board was to tell everybody that their favorite band sucked.

And perhaps one day, sonny, if you keep trying, you will be as cool as me.

  • dude .. i mean SONNY :) you (christian rap) and cool will never inhabit the same room at the same time.

  • It seems I may have touched a nerve. I have a bit of a confession to make, and since we're all friends here, I feel like I can share it. (shhhh...I don't really play Christian rap)

  • only to you. expressing an opinion counter to you isn't having 'a nerve touched'. hmm. so you tell lies! funny how that's the only point you address.

WIN (in an arty non-comptetive counter-culture way of course)

  • great movie

and i can see my self

    when dandys

gig in athens sold out for 2 nights

    back in 2001,

    bjm are great,

    i miss the old dandys

  • It's a great film.

I'm not even into either band that much, but boy, this is a fine fine movie.

    All bands should watch this.

  • where can i see this movie... please tell me. I can't find it any where.. I love the music.

  • omg i loved this movie, soo fuckin funny when anton freaks out

  • This film is interesting even if you're not raelly a fan of either of the bands!

  • j'ai vu le film, c'est un super document sur le rock'n roll

bravo le brian jonestown massacre, bravo les dandy warhols

    bravo le realisateur

  • 1:28 is just briliant

  • The song is called "boys better" by the dandy warhols. One of the bands this is about.

  • Could someone tell me the name of the song that is played during the beginning of this trailer ?thx

  • its amazing how much people lap up the idea of a revolution, of any kind, musical, social, political. The idea of something bigger and better, and being a part of it. It's amazing how easily deceived people are by rehashed ideas and fundamentally boring and tried ideas when they are presented in a pretty wrapper, something that makes them feel a part of something bigger. Unfortunately this is all the brian jones town massacre is, the music is the same, the ideas are the same,

  • but it's the lure of the revolution, and someone that believes themselves to be revolutionary that can blind so many people. In a way they are appropriately named. Brian Jones tricked a group of people that they were special and different and part of something bigger, now anton is doing it aswell. In a way he should be commended, but in another way he should be shown for what he is, a fraud. This music is not different, the ideas are the same, this band shows the ability of humans to trick thems

  • oh god...

  • fraud? fuck you you piece of trash, you cannot create dick if your life depended on it. fraud? he has created amazing albums, are you serious, stop watching this movie and try listening to some of his albums you fucking moron.

  • Right on! This movie is cleverly made BUT it is a work of utter fiction.

  • Finally, someone has said has said the obvious. As someone who has heard the albums, I can say that they are utterly mediocre. In fact if you ever look for real praise for the BJM it's either hopelessly dated or somehow connected with the film.

They may have seemed like the next big thing to that Los Angeles crowd, trying to hype this fued between the Dandys and the BJM, but when it really comes down to it, they both suck, with the BJM sucking slightly less.

  • Whatever. Haha!

  • and who do you listen to...korn? go F off dumb ass

  • you are a master of DICK! dandys are great and so are BJM. just because YOU don't like it doesn't make YOU the final arbiter of what's 'good' or not. what's YOUR stuff sound like (apart from a walrus coughing up a sailor's cock)?

oh man i just checked. 'christian rap'? oh FFS are YOU in the wrong place!

  • It's not "all real" hahaha not even close!

  • man when you think about it this is a totally amazing movie. i mean it could be all totally made up and still be a good movie, the plot the characters, everything. i know its culled from 7 years worth of footage but its an excellent story and what makes it even more interesting is its all real

  • This was such a gem of a film. I think I'll have to watch it a second time.

  • and its really ironic than anton and the bjm had so much talent...maybe even more than the dandies. but because they were all crazy and off the rails they did'nt make it into the mainstream, while the "well-adjusted" dandies we're selling out left right and centre

  • LOVE this movie!!!!!! antoine is hilarious

  • they are amazing, hopefully you aren't impressed by todays singers, heck, they don't even know how to strum any chords at all. Now i feel bad for you HIPPIES RULE THIS WORLD. :D

  • where can i see this movie? does anyone have a website or something where i could see it

  • Heh. Hipsters.

  • im so glad this doc. was made. becuz its just so fuckin real, i think the music is fantastic, but when ou find out about the characters behind it etc. its just adds another great level to it. Brilliant.

Also, it screened Joel for everyone to see, at last.

  • this film is crazy in a good way even though at times its disturbing. some will say that BJM & the dandies havent created this music revolution, but the movie shows why, had they gotten signed earlier or had BJM kept it together they wouldve. Their music would be what people are trying to make today, instead of trying to cling on to the "punk/emo" sound. & if you don't like the dandies or BJM, their music is versatile, making it easy to be influenced from. you have to see the film to understand.

  • kudos

  • I have to say I ain't that struck on either of the bands, I can take 'em or leave 'em, but this movie is pure 100% entertainment at its best....fuckin' A !!!

  • The Dandy Warhols and BJM weren't that great! I mean, what revolution is this film refering to?

  • exactly

  • In all honesty, I think that BJM is a great band...sure, they wear their influences on their shoulders for all to see and hear, but I can tell you this...I would rather listen to a band that imitates the best, than 90% of the music thats out there now...all that Fall Out Boy, PATD!, Emo, Nickleback bullshit

    cay--- i couldent agree more

    Chris - Yes, well said

  • In all honesty, I think that BJM is a great band...sure, they wear their influences on their shoulders for all to see and hear, but I can tell you this...I would rather listen to a band that imitates the best, than 90% of the music thats out there now...all that Fall Out Boy, PATD!, Emo, Nickleback bullshit

    cay--- i couldent agree more

  • Nah, every band makes history when they break into the mainstream from a scene like the dandies came from.

I could write so much about this film, i.e dandys shitting over bjm, but bjm doing everything themselves, but I won't, Anton kicks ass and toward the end of the film it just became like an advert for the dandys, pretty much as artificial as the main record labels are with. The end to me was really emotional with "nevertheless" playing, while everyone analyzes anton.. good movie

  • totally...what a great, great film, and BJM is a great, great, hugely unappreciated band

  • dude your so so so rite on that one

  • I AM THE RECORD COMPANY.............

coffee break politics.its marketed well thou

  • why are this people? THEY ARE TOTALLY RETARD? You dont understand post modernism do you.

  • why are this people bent on the past that has already been seen! what are they trying to do start a new wave?, they are totally retard, and the record company dont give a shit about any of this, they are the product of a culture what culture? the 60 and 70s were good, but they were real and this kids are trying to prove something that has already happened, the past is past, lets move on man, lets remove this from today,

  • How many Brian Jonestown Massacre cd's do you own? How many hours have you spent listening to their music? Anton is the center of an active underground music scene that he created. Of course he is influenced by the past- everyone is. If it were not for Anton, I would be listening to the same music that I listened to in high school and the same music my parents listend to in high school. All popular music being thrown out into the world at this moment is truly terrible. His music is brilliant.

  • that's exactly how they want you to feel.

  • Anton's a genious.

  • i agree with every fucking comment here man!

    the best shit right here!

  • Awesome movie but anton is totally retarded

  • best music documentary ever filmed!

  • the dandy warhols are awful and pretentious, and anton newcombe just rips on them the whole time

  • Dig : the best film I've ever seen

    so perfect

I love Anton , he's so great.. Joel's so funny and the Dandys are great too

"blood from where?" "-from people's faces.." XD he's quite nice, isn't he?

  • todos hacen lo mismo! muy predecible la pelicula!

  • amazon....

  • man i looooooooooooooove this documentary!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its soo good.uhh to that comment underneath cant u just buy it from amazon,or um real groovy.erlack

  • i want to see this so bad, does anyone know where i could pick up a copy?

  • found this on sbs, could not stop watching it, both bands are amazin

  • The Dandy's are an awesome band, period.

  • Fantastica pelicula!!!

  • You're a dumbass.

The Dandys and The BJM >>>> You

  • Thosebands are great, don't get me wrong, just don't rape them into fame.. We like them obviously, shit... Did we need Ondi to tell us how good they were??? NO!!! USELESS AS TITS ON A BOARHOG... Let Us, the fans take care of them, not some lazy filmmakers who don't even appreciate the musical quality..

  • The film did introduce a lot of folk to bjm.

  • like me and i fucking love them now

  • dandys rock, fuck you.

  • anyone who says the dandys are even in the same league as the brian jonestown massacre are insane. Dandys are sellouts and the mainstreamed version of brian jonestown. nothing more.

  • The Brian Jonestown Massacre is much more real of a band than The Dandy Warhols could ever dream of being. Courtney Taylor-Taylor dresses like he should be in the circus and as far as I'm concerned the only thing wrong with BJTM is that Anton has lost his mind (as have many other extremely gifted musicians).

Maybe the Dandies aren't insane, but from a musical standpoint The Brian Jonestown Massacre is something the Dandy Warhols have never been: interesting.

  • Arms Are For Hugging The Dandy Warhols

    <3

  • I saw them at a library in farmington michigan 2003. Im guessing it was for community service, they rule thought. And i got all the guys to sign a poster and i talked with anton

  • The Dandy Warhols are so much better than the Brian Jonestown Massacre, it's not even funny.

  • Go to hell.

  • fuck yeah, the jonestown are ok, but the dandies are so much better

  • i agree. dandys rule ok!

  • I have never really thought of the Mozart/Salieri angle. Courtney does the Mozart impersonation, but is he Mozart to Anton's Salieri, or the other way around?

  • I have never really thought of the Mozart/Salieri angle. Courtney does the Mozart impersonation, but is he Mozart to Anton's Salieri, or the other way around?

  • you should check out your mom

  • such an intense doc at times. everyone with an appreciate for music needs to see this one.

  • is that blood on you? ya from PEOPLE'S FACES! lol anton is the man!

  • ...but the filth and the fury is still the best documentary about any band(s) out there

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm... I can't agree

  • ok, fine. well I still think it is, and everyone else can have their own opinions :D

  • I almost agree with you. I have both films, and they both come pretty close to a tie.

  • i watched this documentary cuz i liked the dandys and now i like the brian jonestown massacre too :D

  • people will watch this years from now and follow meticulously everything that anton newcombe said. he will be remembered!

  • both the dandy warhols and the brian jonestown massacre are phenomenal bands, thanks to the utter genius of courtney taylor-taylor and anton newcombe. however, i don't think anyone who likes (or liked) both bands would disagree that the dandy warhols went wayyyy downhill after 13 tales. i honestly don't think that anton possessed the raw talent of courtney taylor-taylor, but unlike courtney, anton is getting even more creative and refined with time.

  • I prefer the Dandies, but BJM have some pretty awesome records too. Best bit is when the Dandies get bust at French Customs for weed.

"They don't eat y'know? All I've ever seen them do is drink liquor and snort drugs!"

  • simply put, BJM rocked out a whole lot harder than the DW, but lacked

enought temporary sobriety and hustle skills to keep them afloat and MARKETABLE. I like Anton, and the entire BJM opus, and DIG should represent as a testament that pure art/cream will not rise to the surface without marketing agents/PIMPS

  • the trailer is just fuckin perfect man
