  • Buddhism is so amazing in the fact that it is excepting of diverse cultures and enriches our lives with its amazing philosophy. It is really an inclusive religion and that is why it is always unique in every country that it has developed in.

  • Khatas are an amazing means to create affinity with the Buddhas when you enter a temple. It is also offered the Lama's throne to create causes to have deeper Guru devotion or finding a Lama of authentic lineage.

  • I think it is really neat that Kechara House educate the public when they meet with HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche on how they can offer a khata to a high Lama. It may be Tibetan tradition but its meaning is steep in spiritual practice.

  • I have seen how a high Lama in public doesn't have time to receive khata offerings from everyone is thrown khatas instead. It is beautiful sight because there is so much khatas descending...

  • Offering a khata is a standard protocol when greeting a Lama especially when we have not seen him in a long time.

  • I treasure the khata that Rinpoche offered me on my altar because it reminds me of my refuge commitments, Bodhisattva and Guru devotion commitments.

  • yap7128: Oh yeah, you can get nice large Dzambala or Lama Tsongkhapa or Vajrayogini from Kechara Paradise. It is very nice and Kechara Saraswati can do the jewellery or traditional clothes.

  • White is the normal Tibetan color for their Khatas. Blue is for Mongolians. So for Chinese? Red maybe?

  • I want to buy Red colour khata for my Vajrayogini statue at home to make offering. Thank you Rinpoche for teaching me on this. Also to get bigger statue home that bring a lot of merit for us.

  • I am going to buy a lot, a lot of Khatas and keep it as a gift item for anyone i see in the future, I didn't realise it is such a beautiful gift for other, only after I heard this teaching on khatas. Thank you Tsem tulku Rinpoche. I won't leave home without Khatas in the future....

  • Now i know the meaning of offering Khatas to a High Lama or Guru.......we offered up our love, care, devotion and gratitude to someone who we respect (High Lama/ Guru), and in return we get the blessing.....thanks for posting this video.....Love it.....

  • Beautiful way to express one's respect to another.

  • Hi all, I am new here into Tsem Tulku Rinpoches youtube collections. I found out about this Lama from one of the videos. I was so impressed with HEs brand of teaching. Radiant!

  • I have learnt from one of the recent Rinpoches talk in Eric Choong's book launch that there are some certain protocols that we would have to follow when offering khata.

  • Yeah I agree with drmanhattan that offering a khata is very beautiful gesture coupled with the meaning behind it.

  • Thank you newvision, real nice of you to outline it out for us!

  • Wow, now i know the meaning of offering khata to Lama and Buddha.....Thanks for posting this video and thanks you Rinpoche for giving this profound teaching here.....

  • Offering the khata to :

    yidam - solicit attainments

dharma protector - solicit protective energies,

    friends - deep friendship

    lama - blessing , devotion

buildings - good wishes / prayers , tie at the door , may this building bring success, i totally agree with what you're doing

parents - gratitude , love respect

  • In communication , body language plays 70% of the communication . Hence the offering of the khata if one is observant , one can see how beautiful the expression of offering the khata is.

  • Spirits arise from beings who did not receive love, gratitude, care , appreciation , concern and good wishes , or was not able to show those emotions . As the emotions are a necessity for beings to be happy.

  • Tibetans is quite similar to Chinese tradition , hugging , touching is quite foreign to Chinese tradition. Offering a pure white khata is such a gentle way to say I love you .

  • Wow giving of khata can mean so many things, blessings, love , care ,concern and a whole range of emotions , what a beautiful custom . Khata are emotions on cloth.

  • Khata symbolizes goodwill, auspiciousness and compassion. When we offer khata (good qualities) to our Lama, in return, the Lama place the Khata back to us, and give us blessings.......Wonderful, thanks for posting this teaching here, learn alot from this video...

  • Dear people from KH, please try to improve to level of the sound of this video - I barely can hear it with my small speakers.

  • Respect, love, devotion, care, gratitude, appreciation, concern and good wishes are hard to put in words, action and expression. In the Tibetan society, all these intangible emotions are expressed with a khata. Giving a khata is an expression of emotion to the person we are giving the khata to.Thank you for the explanation Rinpoche. That resolves the mystery surrounding giving a khata.

  • Hi DrolmaGirl, I still remember when i was younger, I always think that it was so cool to have a white scaft (khata) around the neck. I didnt know that a simple khata mean so much.

I think Rinpoche really take good care of hit students as well cause he stop the teachings asking his students if they need tables and stuffs.

  • now I know what the khata is for...its so much more than just a pretty scarf and an offering....

  • i like how Tibetans look for opportunities to give away statues. I read that Kechara House recently held a statue party and Rinpoche donated 120 statues to be invited home! Rinpoche really cares for his students and gives them so many opportunities to collect merit!!!!

  • a khata represents pure intentions and aspirations, and when a lama drapes it back on your shoulder, it means he accepts them and also he returns the prayers to you.

  • I would love a pink dharma everything. Pink is hot. Can you make me a pink gold bell and dorje?

And you thought she was a princess. LOL

  • i saw a hot pink khata when I was in kathmandu. fluffy too...

  • I LOVE PINK

  • i need a user-friendly smuuruuu.

  • to express deep respect and admiriation, as well as gratitude is very difficult to be put in words and its easier to express them through an object. This is the reason why khatas are offered to Lamas. It's a very good practice to offer a khata to a Lama whom you want to have a connection with sincerely with all your heart.

  • Amazing talk, to not miss!!! Thank you enlessly

  • Thank you again and again for this talk by Tsem Tulku Rimpoche, very precious and very deep. With endless gratitude.
