  • the one thing I found absolutely great is the steam coming from the brake pipe of the last car..

  • the steam is defnetly not coming from the break system, it's from the steamheating. the valve at the last cariage has to be set in such a way that some steam can escape, so that fresh steam from the engines boiler can

    keep the heating running.

    railway-brakes are operated by pressurised air in germany as well as in switzerland, in fact in entire europe.

    The small cloud of steam coming from the rear end of a steam operated train is an nice and typical view, though. :-)

  • well! Sorry for the big mistake...now that I think of it, of course it's the steam heating system...I'm a fireman on a historical line, and we need enough pressure for the brake pump to function...
