Great tribute, to one of the most respected Geordies of all time. Sir Bobby is a legend - humble, dignified, a true gentleman ! Rest in peace Sir Bobby!!
Meant to say at the end of my other comment Was great seeing the auf hiedersen lads as I watch them as a kid am 29 now like and got all there series great
Sir bobby robson what a legend known worldwide geordie gentleman a fighter till the end pure class R.I.P bobby love and respect to his family from me Liverpool fan Y.N.W.A ,bob auf hiedersen .great seeing the ay
Bobby makes me proud to be a Geordie and Jimmy was right saying he was respected and loved the world over. It makes me well up everytime a watch this. A payed my respect to him owa St James' when he died, a signed the book for him and left me Toon shirt and al treasure the picture a got for the rest of my life.
all these men they start off in a documentary in the 1980 about english builder who go to work in france, i think it was call `au revoir duck` and i think they are there to build the chanel chunnel , the program it become very populare and they all go on to do other tv work and they are no longer have to do the build work ;-)
legend !! im a mansfield town fan went to st james park 2006 3rd round cup we held out until 86th minuete then mr shearer scored his 200th goal and broke our hearts ! made so welcome by newcastle people much respect to u all ! mr robson as i said earlier LEGEND all the best from mansfield
Just a great tribute to a great man from another bunch of Geordie heroes. My parents took us away from the North East when I was young so I've no accent now but I'm still proud of my roots!
bobby robson was one of footballs true good guys and it was a shame he never won the 90 world cup.after the fa decided they didnt want him anymore he nearly went out in real style.and he was responsible for finding some of the best players the game has ever seen.RESPECT
Must be a while since you were back up north jimbo. The Tyne bridge doesn't take u into blaydon town. The correct words are chain bridge it's what they used to call scotswood bridge.
I remember when Newcastle fired him, and how unfair/disgusting it was, and he was on the news doing an appearance, he said something along the lines of, "I'm honouring an arrangement that was booked before this happened, I love Newcastle and I always will".
He never attacked the bastards that sacked him.
I really admired him for that, I thought what an honourable person.
Rest in Peace.
ps
scotchy bridge looks like a mini tyne bridge :) that takes u to Blaydon!
RIP Bobby! Just so it's said, Bobby was from County Durham and was not a geordie. An adopted geordie maybe? Even so it's very rare a man crosses the divide of Sunderland and Newcastle and can be loved and missed from red and white to black and white.
2:25 Jimmy Nail... you call yourself a Geordie? The lyrics as written by Geordie Ridley _are_ "We flew across the CHINE bridge, and into Blaydon Toon... " This was the old Scotswood Bridge, supported by chains. Not the Tyne Bridge which was not built when this song was written. Yer daft shite...
@noushitaisa - get over it. Folk music is meant to be re-written to be relevant to the time it's in. This is a folk song, it's amenable to updating. Jeesh.
@Andraste77 You are wrong--going across the Tyne Bridge would lead into Gateshead, not Blaydon which is 5 miles upriver. They were reading from scripts. Whoever prepared them screwed up -- but Jimmy Nail, born in Benton (next to Scotswood) should have known this -- especially as he has made his career as a 'professional Geordie' - i.e. not good enough! I suggest you shove your head up a horse's arse...
@noushitaisa - and I suggest you fucking lighten up. They did a great version of a popular folk song for CHARITY. Nit-picking about it only makes you look like the horse's ass you so cleverly suggest I shove my head up.
@Andraste77 You know, there is a saying which was popular among the people of Bobby Robson's generation. It is "If summat's worth doing -- it's worth doing properly" Getting the words wrong like that robs the song of its historical and geographical significance. Good video though, with a fly in the ointment which could and should have been avoided whether they were geting pid or not. That's all I'm saying. Lighten up yourself...
"And now a word for bobby robson. hero of the toon A football man. A gentle man. Who never let us doon. A freindly word, a cheery smile, and brave right to the end. where proud that you were one of us. sir bob. Auf Wiedersehen" x
Sir Bobby, an inspiration to all, either through his charisma on the touchline or though raising millions for various charities to which he put his name forward. We'll never see the like of him again :o(
Fantastic song and video, a loving tribute to a mon who loved the Toon so much.
It's such a nice change to see not-Hollywood actors with no plastic and no botox ... proper faces. Excellent tribute, lairds. Chowked up a bit at the end ...
I went to blaydon races 'twas on the 9th of june in 18 hundred and 62 on summers afternoon. i took the bu from bambers and was heavy laden away we went up collingwood street that on the orad to blaydon.
Ih my lads you should of see us gannin (gerordie for going fast) passing folks along the road just as they were standing they were lod of lads and lasses there all with simling faces gannin (gerodie for going fast) scotswood road to see the blaydon races.
we flew past armstongs facotory and up to the robin addaire just gannin (gerodie for fast) down the railwway bridge the bus wheel flew off there. the lasses los there crenilies (what ever they are) and the veils that hidde there faces gannin along the scotswood road to see the blaydon races. and we got the wheel put on away we went again those who had theire noses broke the went back awayem (went home) and some to docrotr gibbes's and soem to the infermary to mend thire brocken ribs. chorus.

Nice tribute song for Sir Bobby Robson and his Foundation.
When Bobby died, it was like losing me Granda all over again.
I had a little bubble at the end of the song too.
I'm a Geordie who grew up doon sooth and watching Auf Weidersehen Pet always reminded me of home. I never get sick of watching it to this day.
I was saddened to hear that as well as Bomber and Wayne, Herr Grunwald, Arthur Pringle and Kenny Ames have also passed on.
God Bless you Sir Bobby and Auf Weidersehen Pet to all.
