Dante's attitude in this game surprised me. I mean, he just bursts into a church out of fuckin nowhere and blows a priests brain to pieces. He seemed a lot more pissed off and brutal, the cockiness is still there, but he seems so much darker in this game. DMC4 Dante and DMC3 Dante are like two different people.

That was a bit more mature and dark for Dante, considering that he selfishly keeps those feelings to himself most of the time because he can't admit his demon side having any good in it.

Considering it is the second to last chronologically, I guess it makes sense for him to have matured

You see his arm? A fragment of Nelo Angelo must of fused with him (Maybe he curiously picked it up?), which means essentially, he has the soul of Vergil/Nelo Angelo flowing through him. When they say he has the "Blood of Sparda" they don't mean literally. Infact, Nero has a BARE FRAGMENT, of it.

If the game wasn't about introducing Nero and focusing on him, he wouldn't of been able to even fend off Dante.

Even if we're speaking from a purely gameplay-wise comparison, the game was still the worst in the series and the whole gameplay mechanics are messed up. Quite frankly, it sucked.
