I love all the covers you guys have done. I like the added guitar solos in this version. I wish Rich Williams played more solos in the early days of Kansas. I noticed that a part in this cover is missing, after the long instrumental section.
As a Kansas fan from waaaay back when, I have nothing but mega Kudos the folks on this video. They paid homage to the musicianship that Kansas truly is vs. the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. A cover which not only is true to the original but adds subtle touches of thier own. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!
To use an overused word....but appropriate here.....AMAZING!! You are all great muscians and nailed a difficult Kansas song. How did you guys pull this off technically?
Very kind of you to say, but getting together in person would be a bigger task than putting these songs together. We live in North America, Europe, and Mexico.
Personally, I'd LOVE to do a live "tour" if someone with the right connections that could work out how we could all be in the same place at the same time, make certain all of your daily life business is covered, and get us paid well for putting together a LIVE Kansas tribute show.
If someone is out there who can do this, let us know
another great cover by u guys u should really consider gettin together and doin some shows, u guys r definitely one of the best cover bands of kansas that ive heard
Jerry, as you know, I stop by now and then to see if you've done anything new. How happy I was to see another collab from you and the boys! Every attention to detail is not lost on me, you guys, EVERY ONE OF YOU, NAILED IT!!! Now get back at it, I'll be waiting...
This is absolutely fantastic! Keep em comin!! As a Kansas fan in the UK, there is little prospect of any live shows, so you guys doing this is an absolute treat.
Really nice, guys. I would love to contribute myself at some point (specifically, a point at which I actually have a means of recording decently), but you guys did an excellent job.
Awesome! Journey from Mariabronn and Song for America are my two favorite Kansas songs. I just saw Kansas Friday night with the Oklahoma State University Symphony. I love the video also. I noticed the part with the car was filmed on Route 66 in Oklahoma City and Bethany, Oklahoma about two miles from where I live. What irony! My favorite song and a video of my hometown. I am looking forward to other Kansas works from you guys.
Now that was IMPRESSIVE !!!! You men have put a great new life into that tune. Your mix is awesome, your talents are exceptional!!! The video work is inspiring. Reading the other comments posted, all I've got to say is that this is truly a group effort. Everyone of you have contributed to one of the, if not THE, best Virtual works on YouTube. CONGRATS !!! (Next on the list? Magnum Opus??)
You guys treat this fantastic song by Kansas, by the way one of the most creative bands ever in my humble opinion, very good. At the beginning for me it sounded almost like the original. Very good playing of all the musicians, and a special compliment for the vocalists, very good voices and great feeling for the tune. just one little point of criticism concerning to the volume of the violine, which is a bit too loud on some parts and has for my taste too much trebles in the mix. CONGRATS to all!
I've got three words for you: OH MY GOD!!! This was the most amazing cover of any song that I have ever heard in my entire life! I was looking forward to this video for many months and it was so damn worth it! Each and everyone of you guys did an outstanding job on his part and Al and Roland did such a great work on video and audio! Especially the end sounded like the real Kansas were playing it. Keep on rockin' guys, I really can't wait for the next masterpiece :-)
you guys that was fucking FANTASTIC! as someone who's learned this song myself i know how hard to coordinate this all must have been....i was stoked that you include the lengthly intsrumental bridge, even kansas didn't play that one live a lot of the time! All I can say as a Kansas devotee is, you did the band JUSTICE! Also huge props to Al for hitting those high notes! WOW, now i am insipred to do my own cover!! :O)
While everyone had a hand in the making of this video, please note, it is Roland that brought this project to life. Also Al's vocals put us on a level of epic porportion. Marks violin is what makes us a Virtual Kansas Band. George and Rolands keyboards fill every empty spot with chills of "Wow...that was way cool" !!! Jorges and Neals guitar parts rock solid with a touch of old and new school. Me ? I was just along for the ride on this one, and very honored to be a part. Thanx to all !!!!
@kanushrox Jerry - no way in the world am I going to simply read what you wrote and not say anything in response....To those who already know and for anyone who does not know..."Our Virtual Kansas" project WOULD NOT EXIST if it weren't for one member above everyone else...*in MY humble opinion*...that's Jerry. He had the dream*along with George* to WANT this to be something more than just a cover band. He IS a true inspiration of what it means to be in an amazing tribute band! YOU DA MAN_Jerry
@kanushrox dude, don't sell yourself short...I'm not even a drummer, but I know every note of what Kerry Livgren plays on that song....if it wasn't right, the "song" wouldn't be right for me (yes i am picky ;D) ...and you nailed it (along with everyone else)
I'm VERY fortunate to be a small part of such an amazing group of international extremely talented musicians who have all come together to celebrate the music of Kansas!!
I think it was worth the wait and time spent. I am so pleased with the end result. I played my bass part on this and the previous song, but when I listen to those songs back every time I feel like I'm listening to the real Kansas.
I'm not making an egotistical statement, but just one of pure amazement that seven complete strangers from the different US states and different countries each played the music that you hear. And I believe we've done justice to the music of the original Kansas.
Excellent job boys! Jerry doesn't shy from the difficult songs when he chooses what to cover! Every individual here is top notch. Al is my favorite singer on the web. If I were 30 years younger I'd love to have him in my band. Of course he would be a little tyke so that wouldn't work! Can't wait for the next one and this one will get many views.
@mokusmisi ...THANK YOU for the very kind words. I hope you will like our next song choice as much. We're all learning new things about collaborating on the Internet and working with each other the best we can. I'm almost 50 yrs old and I would have never believed something like this would ever have been possible even back 10 years ago. I'm old enough to know the music of Kansas when it was new. I'm very fortunate to have met up w/ all the guys who make up this project so I could be a member!
I love this one Jerry! Y'all are just totally rockin' it! Can hardly wait for the next one!\
