  • @jormanhernandez you forgot André Rieu on your list, and actually he's one of the 3 people who disliked

  • the only people allowed to put "thumb down" are: vengerov, repin, zimermman...i dont think any of the 3 people who put thumb down on this video is one of them

  • I seen him in a concert, he played Paganini's 1st violin concerto and this was an addition. He is fantastic, absolutely brilliant. It is really worth listen him live one of the best nowadays! And in Budapest there is the best concert hall in Europe.

  • Amazing...

  • good... but I like Midori's better... I like his idea of making it sound like the last sigh of that summer rose but I still like Midori's mourn better.

  • very well played! he doesn't take on a robotish expression event for a split-second, BrAvO!

  • the best one is vengerov's version

  • souless? au contraire, extremely soulful and refined... it doesn't get better than this.

  • thats really quite something. you can see he's just clearly sat and worked through a tonne of exercises. Amazing technically but a bit souless.

  • So clean!

  • He plays the section from 3:05-3:13 SOOO cleanly. I've tried to find another rendition where someone matches him even, and I've listened to all available to me, probably ten renditions, and none come close.

  • try kremer. If I remember correctly, he nails this. make sure to listen to the left hand pizz variation- fastest i've ever heard it.

  • i've heard Kremer, he's really good on this. The best I've heard is Midori.

  • Midori is certainly a stellar player. I prefer Kremer, possibly because he just has so much more speed and such an odd interpretation. Midori's version is very much the way the piece was intended, I think.

  • Hilary Hahn.

  • What about her?

  • I strongly recommend you watch her performance of this piece here on YouTube if you haven't yet done so. It's, in my opinion, superior to Barati's.

  • I've heard it a few times. I disagree.

  • well done. this is not an easy piece...

  • he skips a section from the finale..... great playing tho!

  • great playing

  • i was thinking 'i was wondering what this would sound like on a cello - transposed etc..(im a celloist),then it hit the 3 minunte mark....my dream were crushed. then the section at 5:40, they were crushed again

  • you know, this piece was written by a "violinist" so it fits in the hands. if he can do it, so can you! , i would encourage any violinist play at a high level to attempt this piece, don't be discouraged. it seems harder when you listen and look. then when you actually see the music, its another story entirely.

  • i got the music right in from of me, and those double harmonic stops still dont look too friendly. rofl

  • They're not so bad. If you work out the fingerings, most of them are quite easy.

  • To much pressure on the double harmonics. He crunches the too much. If you want to hear an amazing performance of this look up Midori's.

  • Yup. Hers is the best. Kremer's is very good too.

  • God, I love his vibrato. It is so moving, so spontaneous. Its hard to find unique vibrato usage these days...

  • What the fuck is wrong with the cameraman. Its kinda creepy with those eyes......

  • lol! thats what i was thinking!!

  • Great Interpretation!!

    As worse is the camera-man

  • 1:45 - 1:47 is what i call musical presicion. very well done

  • i cant find a significant flaw in his playing. his stage presence, phrasing and technique are very well on point. best performance of this piece.

  • he leaves out completely the hard harmonic passages. and his style is kind of annoying i think. i like some parts, hate others.

  • Is there more than one edition of this piece? He plays all the variations, which I can find in the music I own from the piece, but I've also seen a version on youtube with a harmonic variation which isnot in my score? I like his play.

  • i don't think there are any editions of this; the piece was written and that's it ... that's one of the variations, i have the music myself and it's in there.

  • Then there ARE definitely DIFFERENT editions!!! My one contains only the variations Barati plays! No need to complain about him not playing all the music!

  • wow, really good, he´s awesome, his technique really clean.

  • it is easy ... its the idea when i see he playing this

  • SUPERB!!!

  • oÓ! Que crack!

alGuun diaa toCare yo eSoo.. xD

    Jajaja mis ganas...

    ufff.. me pueDeee!! INCREIBLEEEE!! =D

  • best is liu yang but this is very good too

  • great! love it..

  • No-no themontyshow, I can assure you, Kristof is not that type of artist who makes his recordings with 2000 cuts. :)

(About the impossible difficulties: listen to Yulian Sitkovetsky's version of the "Last Rose", in that time, 1951-1955, they couldn't fake audio in that sense.)

  • this is really great performance, but im disappointed that the camera moves away from him in the most technically difficult part of the piece, so we cant actually see how he does the pizz and playing at the same time. ,maybe this was done to allow for editing in the audio track? (i know that it's almost impossible to play that section perfectly by today's recording standard) either way it's badass

  • there is not edited version coz there are few mistakes in every variation

  • best video i have watched on youtube all year

  • I wish you would have ears.

  • See my comment on Erlkönig.

  • Really nice are you Barati ?

  • I'm starting to hate youtube!!!

  • Are you Hilary Hahn's boyfriend or her yourself, or you just don't have ears. grow up, and get your musicianship developed, go study suzuki method level 1.

  • Thanks for the advice; it has so much to do with the differences in the interpretations of this piece.

  • Ok, im sure you agree with me that his interpretation is uncomparibly better

  • I agree with you. He did some little "not in-tune" notes... not a big deal but still violinists can notice. But I dont think Hilary did a good job on her playing, some parts rushed maybe she was nervous because she wasnt very well prepared. If you want a 100% perfect interprepation you should listen Maxim Vengerov's recording when he was 16 y/o you can listen to every single note and harmonic totally clear performance.

  • keep in mind that both Barati and Hillary are playing this piece live. Vengerov's is a studio recording which allows for correction of mistakes. So it's not quite fair to compare his recording with Barati's and Hillary's in terms of perfection

  • Vengerov's been playing this from adolescent years tho, early adolescent years. So comparison may be valid.

  • I meant that studio recordings allow for correction of mistakes, whereas live performances don't, so studio recordings are always going to be cleaner :)

  • Yes, you do have quite the legitimate point there. But a question keeps popping up in my mind. Just how many mistakes can Vengerov make on in a piece that he knows so well, even if it is studio? I dunno, just a thought...

  • no that many for sure, he's amazing!

  • Well then, I'm looking forward to hearing you play it so much better.

  • The "I'm looking forward to hearing you play it so much better"-insult is really the lamest thing you can tell someone who's critizising a performance. Of course very few people can do a performance of this piece that's just halfway as impressive as this one. That does not mean, however, that some people can't hear a couple of things that could've been done differently and maybe even better. And that totally doesn't mean they could actually have done it better themselves, and they do know that.

  • Hillary always sounds like she is trying no to make a mistake, trying to play as clean as possible. That kind of playing is extremelly clean and extremelly boring. Barati, however plays with certain abandon that allows him to serve the music first. I'll take that kind of playing any time. In terms of cleanliness both did a similar work in this piece

  • Clever comment.

  • @kaikobird Yes there's no comparison- this is so much better! ;-)

  • @kaikobird i admire your sense of sarcasm :]

  • Lol

  • Stuff ur stupid ears in fluff

  • @kaikobird I honestly hope that you are trolling, because if you truly can't hear his gorgeous musicality, I honestly feel sorry for you.

  • Great he is better than Ricci, Kremer!!

  • i don't think so, but he is good.

  • He's better than Ricci. Kremer, i dunno, but he's better than Ricci

  • i really don´t think so

  • I really do. XD

  • ok ok, he is better

  • eit, add me to your contacts

  • Wow O_O

    Great :D

  • Kristof is not only a virtuoso...

  • your are virtuoso!

But i don't understand, why did u cut coda's harmonic scales?

  • ryu goto's last rose is cooler he doesn't take out staccato... and he adds them to the harmonic scale passages and makes a pretty cool double stop run at the end. it's all on his new cd

  • SHOW PICTURES OF HIS FINGERS enough with the paintings

  • Unfortunely not...

  • spectacular! thank you very much for posting these videos of Kristof! Do you have any videos of him playing paganini caprices? or Pachelbel's Canon? ;-)

  • The way he plays is so neat and systematic. It's really great to see him still in full control of the bow when it gets tough. Good stuff! So good that it's almost ridiculous.

  • ridiculous..still had time to vibrate the artificial harmonics amidst the arpeggios? and live? wowzers!
