I have to tell you that this was during a time when several in the LDS Church were still heavily influenced by McCarthyism. He was the politician who taught that there was a communist around every corner, etc. He was the great scape goater. Acts gives 5 accounts of people being baptized in the Holy Spirit (ch.2,8,9,10,19). In three of them (ch. 2,10,19) the believers spoke in tongues the moment they were filled with the Spirit. The account in ch. 8 it is strongly inferred, and Paul's baptism logically included this (see I Cor. 14:18).

@DieOrBlink - as you know the BOM contains countless accounts of wars, and struggles between freedom and bondage; the CF's (control freaks :) have similar attributes and patterns - Laman had pride, loved money and comfort, and so being a control freak upon poor Nephi was a way to gratify these things. Oh and the Gadianton robbers (gangs) with their secret combos and hand-signs, and their silly hypocritical oaths which they are willing to die for - there IS honor among thieves.

I have to tell you that this was during a time when several in the LDS Church were still heavily influenced by McCarthyism. He was the politician who taught that there was a communist around every corner, etc. He was the great scape goater. Ok, a few things about Ezra Taft Benson's BYU Devotionals that most Conservative members seem to forget. First, he was not nor ever prophet of the church when he said any of his political messages. This fact seems to be forgot often. Second, he crossed lines he should not have in giving these talks.
Like wise, Pres. Faust was the leader of the Utah Dems and I just learned that Pres. Hickley was one too. So if you can't be a good Mormon and be a Dem, then I guess they weren't good Mormons!

Our constitution seems to be almost hanging by a thread right now. I would agree "the days ahead are ominously frightening." Many people that I work with embrace socialism and are okay if American becomes communist. This is very disturbing that many people don't understand the history of this country and how our freedoms were obtained and just want to throw those away to some elusive collective "good." This system always fails and people lose their lives, liberty, and freedoms under communism..

All apostles are considered prophets, seers, and revelators in our wonderful gospel. When we sustain our leaders that means we beleive what they say comes from our Heavenly Father. They are lead by the spirit of what we need to hear and their words are living scripture. I do not think we should question the Lord, our God, or his representatives.

There is no 'addition' to anything, foolish man. Christ is Lord and Saviour and he has an authorized kingdom to administer his gospel. For example Simon saw that by the laying on of hands the 12 Apostles had power to confer the Gift of the Holy Ghost So Christ, through his authorized servants administers the gospel ordinances to the Saints. When did an Apostle or some other authorized servant of Christ confer upon you the Gift of the Holy Ghost? Thats right, never! (Acts 8:18)

I really don't think you understand these scriptures. Have you been born again? Im afraid you cant have been. As Christ explained to Nicodemus, being born again is being born of water (baptism) and of the Spirit (Gift of the Holy Ghost)(John 3:5) (see also Acts 2:38) and then comes the spiritual transformation of a natural man or woman into a man or woman of God. You're not a member of Christ's church. In fact you're an enemy of Christ and his church! Born again? I don't thinks so!

Actually I have been born again, baptized in water, and baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:4. I am a member of the body of Jesus Christ which crosses many denominations and congregations world-wide.

Okay, I'm glad you brought up the baptism of the Holy Ghost. You (I assume) claim to have received this, what was the evidence of this experience? Let me guess: "Burning in the bosom"?
Acts gives 5 accounts of people being baptized in the Holy Spirit (ch.2,8,9,10,19). In three of them (ch. 2,10,19) the believers spoke in tongues the moment they were filled with the Spirit. The account in ch. 8 it is strongly inferred, and Paul's baptism logically included this (see I Cor. 14:18).

Dirtyblonde, the Catholics have never had 12 Apostles. The Church of Jesus Christ has 12 Apostles. The Catholic Church is not the Church of Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church is the church of the Roman Empire founded by Constantine. Constantine was a sun worshipper who wanted to unite the empire under one religion. He adopted what was left of chrsitianity and then grafted in lots of pagan practices and thats why you have the Holy Roman Church. I should know, I was born a Catholic.

They already had faith so he gave them Article of Faith 4, he told them 1. Repent 2, Be baptized by immersion for the remission of sins. 3. It is all still true! Even more so now, than ever before. We are fast approaching communism through our socialism. It may be easier in the short run, but in the long run it is enslaving.
Our deficit and debt grows, and the so-called "Federal" Reserve (aka BANKS) own this country, and we bail them out. Why? Because they do indeed control things and people. Not a billion dollars. A TRILLION dollars.
