Do all of the sounds have to be input into the KP3?
I have a little yellow kaossilator and I've been trying to get a pro for between £150 and £200. Just found a KP3 for £180 and I wanted to know if it had it's own sounds and whether or not I can just link the little one with it.
hi very good videos, I want to buy something to make music, my friends and I sing but we make our own beats. which is what I recommend for starters, KP3 or microSAMPLER? and that more need to start?
Does one take life by the balls by simply having fun or is there a greater purpose? It's a question to ponder. I don't want to be an accountant all my life, it would suck. But I would find greater satisfaction in academia than ephemerality. I think it was J Bentham (the 'greatest happiness to most people' guy) said something like: there are levels of happiness. Intellectual rates above brevity. I tend to agree. Again, ask urself, would you prefer to party all your life or solve climate change?
Music sounds sick on this, but its tactile nature has been totally removed. Furthermore, it requires a new skill while subverting an old one. Fine, fine, I can appreciate the new one, but I doubt there will be any great riffs produced for or by this machine. So I ask ya, what sounds better, Beardyman beatboxing or something timeless like Stairway to Heaven, Roxanne, Georgia On My Mind etc? Is this machine doomed to ephemerality like everything else nowadays?
I have a question. can you for example record guitar loops into a loop station (such as the RC20) then connect the output of that into the input of the kaoss pad 3 and add synth sounds and stuff from the pad to loop thats being played?
@ZACHDISASTER Tha KP3 don't contain any samples. You need to upload them into to a SD card. If you want sounds & samples produced by a pad machine, you're searching a Kaossilator.
Hey I need a bit of help. I'm trying to record vids like this one: I have out cables that convert into an mp3 jack so that I can plug the jack into my iPod nano 5g and record the vid. However, even though everything is plugged in, the iPod only records outside noise and not what I am playing on the KP3. I got it to work once or twice but I don't know how, so I don't think anything is broken... Please help!
Hey can anybody tell me how i could use this live? I play drums and currently have a Korg Wavedrum and a Roland Spd-s and I wanna get the kaoss pad to add some different vibes. Would i need my own mixer?
And I will also probably make a series of videos trying to *completely* cover the features of it for people who are learning to use it or are completely obsessed with it and want it very badly (like me)
@ToX23in be sure to let me know when you do this series of videos, the standard of documentation that comes with it is very very poor, i could do with some more help.
I got it a couple months after I posted my comment, and started to make the videos, but the problem was that my computer is getting old and wont recognize my camera anymore. So no videos for a long while :I
@ToX23in I went from playing heavy metal guitar for 8 years in a band to buying a drum machine, a synth, a KPQ and Im getting my KP3 today :P youre not alone ! :P
The KP3 is a pain to try and get to work with reason, control surface wise.
You have to go through the KP3 editor and reconfigure the buttons to actions in Reason; it's complicated and I haven't messed around with it enough to give a detailed response.
wow this is cool bro :) but i have one question, where did u get those sounds ;) i would really appreciate it if you tell me how can i get beats and effects :D
I just starting making loops myself. It isn't particularly hard using a software synthesizer; I use various types in Sonar 7 Producer Edition.
BUT, you do need to have a basic knowledge of music theory. It'll also make things a lot quicker if you know scales otherwise it takes a lot of trial and error to get your loops sounding the way you want.
1: you need practice. you also need software on the copmuter with the songs on, this guys is most probably triggering the songs on his pc from his kaoss pad. i could be wrong.
These are mint. How does everything work? I've heard you can hook one up to synths and stuff? But here it's shown to sample too. The possibilities are endless!
kaliko i'm using my pad with a soundblaster x-fi.. i put the two pins (red & white)into my audio card. The x-fi has an external face.. if you don't have this kind of video cards, i think you can use it with your mixer :).. Sorry for the bad english, i'm italian.

first get a coupleof turntables (technics 1200/1210s ideal but anything will do) and a basic mixer. then get a looooaaaaadddd of records and play them continuously peace al
Actually I've just tried that, it cuts the other samples out. You'd have to fade in another track though the inputs. Still it can work, if you know the bpm you're going into, or destroy your samples (looping, graining, filters etc), start a track and then take them out. But yeah, three and a half minutes of a 4 bar loop like this, even with the effects, it gets old.
great stuff, the only negative point is your hand work, it fucks up the manual looping part, cause your not on the beat 3 or 4 times when you press the button, otherwise, nice musical search

so is the KP3 basically the KAOSSILATOR and the MiniKP put together?
brianmgksi 2 years ago
No, cause it's a great sampler too, it has more effects than a miniKP, it has lot more options to control those effects, it is a midi controller too.
It's just better :)

the kaossilater is a synthesizer (producer of sound) and mini kp is the younger brother to the KP3.
