  • You definitely are a man of your word!

  • Dave your a beast!!

  • Hay Dave you didn't show if you caught any thing on those bank lines you put out.

  • in florida I have caught catfish with a rooster-tail by just letting it sink to the bottom of the pond.

  • that bird needs to die! COMMON MAN BLOWGUN AWAY!

  • That was cool, Aren't you on t.v.?

  • @pelletgun12 he was on dual survival his name is Dave Canterberry im not sure if he was on anything else

  • @wildernessoutfitters dual survival is my favorite show can't wait for the new season

  • why dosnt he just take out the shimano out there? it'd be easier and more fun

  • @tackleshop234 w3at do you mean com out? i watch that show all the time

  • did u use to be a biker

  • 4:45 nice to know that happens to the best of us and not just me ha

  • How do I get a T shirt like yours?

  • Great job Dave! I bet there are nice bass in tht pond wish i could bring my creme lure make 6 inch rubber worms, purple and black color work the best for me. I love to use rooster tails for trout in streams, creeks, and trolling on a boat.

  • Dave, Thanks allot for the things you teach man. I have seen you and Cody argue over the bare feet and several things, and I have to let you know man that I am taken your side every time...LOL...Thanks Again Dave...I think that you are the best I could ever learn from...Joe...SD, TN I just realized that you done this before Discovery Channel and I'm glad to see that you will still be here to teach people like me realistically and not ad ons like TV... Thanks Again Dave

  • Dave, Thanks alot for the things you teach man. I have seen you and Cody argue over the bare feet and several things, and I have to let you know man that I am taken your side every time...LOL...Thanks Again Dave...I think that you are the best I could ever learn from...Joe...SD, TN

  • hey dave are you a lefty???

  • @TheAbuhmann Yeah Dave is a lefty, I first noticed when I was watching his rabbit stick video.

  • yea i made one and it works great and also i like the show dual survival

  • is this the dude form duel survival

  • your the fucking pathfinder :) I like him very much

  • i love your vids man i just love the wild sometimes i wish a disaster would happen just so i could use the info learned for surviving

  • That thing is soo cool!

  • Hey dude I don`t think it`s a bird makin that squeaking sound. It is his real. I think you should get some oil on it heheheh. Gr8 video bud.

  • greaaaaat video i wish you could do a hardcore fishing how to. for example you walked out in the wilderness with NOTHING and show how you can make your own fishing hooks with thorns or small hard twigs carved into a hook and what would you do for line?

  • wow that casts better than i thought it would lol, cast farther than most ppl with bobber and pole lol =p

  • hey dave i was wondering what is the biggest fish you have cought with that.

  • those fishes you caught that you threw in again...aren't they hurt ?

  • @brianchhangte i'm sure a fish getting hooked doesn't feel good but it's not debilitating unless they swallowed the hook really deep (and you try to pull it out) and in that situation the hooks i use anyway degrade pretty fast

  • @brianchhangte people catch fish and throw them back all the time, there not hurt. lol

  • Two Big thumbs up!!!

  • man i really love the new show Dual Survival you and Cody make a great team.

  • Dang now I like that kit. I made my own small survival fishing kit out of a empty dip can and it turned out nice, you should check it out on my page.

  • i know im leaving 2 comments but this guy probly goes camping like its his j

  • i bet if this guy got lost theyd find him and he'd have like a condo set up

  • and you have kept true to your word.......

    I respect that.

  • Cool

  • great idea how much line should you put on

  • u look like the guy from dual survival

  • @crankinchris44 lol seriously? :) he is the guy (Dave Canterbury) on Dual survivor :)

  • Kaldicuct, Sorry to dispute your grandfather, but 30+yrs of fishing taught me otherwise.I can't count the times. And live bait or fresh meat will usually outfish lures. In fact, some use lures because it "is" harder and more challenging- more for the advanced than beginner. But in a surv. situation, you want to go with what is easiest and most often productive. You grandfather probably meant that when the "bite is on," almost anything works. That's true. Thanks for the comment.

  • Ridiculous! What good is it if not w/you at all times, taped inside a multi-tool pouch or wallet? Most surv situations, You "find" yourself in.No time to go for a record;but, easier-to-catch, closer-to-bank, pan fish.Carry 2,size 4-6 hooks.Wrap 30+ft of 6-8lb.line on a Q-tip shaft(ends cut off).Cut a pole, and 3x3in.piece of cloth, on the spot; put in a pebbel and make a pouch sinker.Insects best for bait. Also keep w/you, 6-8 paper matches, sealed in tape for dryness, taped inside case or wallet.

  • @34dd34 somethin my grandfather told me for fishin.... doesnt matter what bait your usin, if the fish are hungry, theyll bite. if they arent hungry, they wont eat.

  • we all must be like you. do our best enytime.sorry for my english

  • Could you make a new video about the fishing kit?!?!? we would LOVE it :D

  • what happened to "im not gonna leave youtube"?

  • dude im in love with ur pocket fisher if i give u my address could u send me one with only the line hook and tube thing thanx

  • colorado!!!

  • Don't complain about the bird, it is nature what did you expect? Did you expect trucks and video game noises? LOL just kidding :]

  • i thought you eat the fish? Why did you let it go lol?

  • shoot that dam bird..lol

  • @Sikus1965 i know its frickin annoying

  • @Sikus1965 i was about to say i enjoyed the sound of the birds calling

  • I just joined after watching a few videos. I have to say, some of the most useful videos I've seen concerning survival and bushcraft. Nicely done.

    James

  • You are a good man and a realist. I wish you the best in your efforts and thank you for teaching people how to make it through what is coming..

I'm also a bushcraft type. I have a self sufficient farm in Costa Rica.

.....If only the sheep would pay attention to our kind.

  • @blammcans Stop calling Human Beings sheep.

  • @AaronfromWM stop beeing a sheep

  • Hey bro, hope you get to do the discovery channel gig. That would be an awesome opportunity. Good luck.

  • great videos. yes you deserve your own show. either way your teraching are greatly valued. gonna need it come 2012

  • lalon i dont under why ur comment got thumbs downed lol i guess obama supporters watch this so when the time comes there not screwed?

  • i think he meant the whole mayan prediction thing

  • worms are da bet and its easier than having to mess around casting

  • I love these videos. This man is the John Wayne of bushcraft.

  • I do a lot of fishing. When you catch a fish and plan to eat it. When you cut it open look at the liver if it has white specks on it do not eat it. That fish is sick with a disease.

  • i usally catch more fish than my friends and they have full tackle sets. I enjoy catching guppies outa the watter and hookin those bad boys with a top water bobber and just draggin em in. cept i dont get such a good cast, but i'll be tryin the underhand a try

  • haha, i have that SAME exact lure on the end of mine!

  • You are awesome man! Hope to see you on TV with your own show..

  • I just finished making my own pathfinder fishing kit!

1inch PVC pipe. Can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for teaching me this, Dave!

  • sewing bobbins can hold a lot of fishing line as well...

  • i imagine this is possibly during the spawn when the crappie are close to the bank and eager to bite

  • daves laughin all the way to the frying pan.

  • Is this by your house? Nice woods. I have crayfish but no fish in my yard :(

I like the taste of Bluegil better but I would never pass up a crappie

  • nice paracord bracelet!

  • haha at 7:11 the tree branch looks like an eye!

  • creepy

  • over his left shoulder?

  • Hey man - I REALLY appreciate this and your videos. I have made some videos myself and I know the type of work it takes. The fact that you made these videos and give them away for free is awesome! Thanks man - keep it up - and keep surviving!

  • what lb fishing line is being used with that kit ?, also is there a link back to the original kit being built, seems like a great item for a kit, small yet effective

  • If you use RED fishing line it's invisible to fish. Just FYI

  • great idea great site thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Hell yeah man, great job. I told u this b4 totally jealous. Keep it simple man, common tools and techniques for common people. Thats what real survival is all about.

  • Congratulations on discovery. My dad loves to watch the video when you guys were eating the rabbit. It reminds him of the stuff he use to do whenever he went camping.

  • That's sweet Dave, congratulations on your success with Discovery. Clearly they see you as a strong candidate. If they don't do something with you though in terms of making a show of some type then they are foolish. I'll e-mail them and simply express my respects and admiration for you and what you've done for countless of people all around the world. Good luck.

  • gotta love it

  • congrats on the call back! I hope it all works out well for you.

  • Good to hear you laugh and have fun Dave keep it up man. Jock

  • a thick walled cardboard tube from any hobby store works great to just put real cork stoppers in it and its fine thats what i use

  • Bravo Dave! Many thanks.

  • if you guys are looking for a good tube what i use was a mini MNMS candy tube its bout 7inchs long with lots room in side thats what i use its cheap and you get candy lol

  • I've had a m&m tube in my kit for a few years it works great

  • hey dave is that tube threaded or does it just push together?

i was thinking that one of those cheap toothbrush covers for when you travel could work well for the tube but best i can remember they are threaded to fit together...any help would be appreciated

  • That might work man, get one the biggest Diameter you can Find

  • thanks man ill definitely look into it and let you know how it goes...i figure if it works itd be alot cheaper than me buying a drill bit i dont need just to get the tube

  • well done brother, I wish you all the best

  • When I was a kid there was an old man down the road who fished like that off of a glass coke bottle. He called it hobo fishing. If it worked then it will work now. Hey dave good luck. I look forward to seeing you on tv.

  • Good Luck in Denver hope it works out for you. I don't comment much .but I but i have watched all of your videos and have learned a lot from them Keep the vids rollin Television needs a guy like yourself to teach people about survival I know It will work.. thanks and good luck

  • Great video as always Dave. Best of luck to you in Colorado!!

  • Congrats on going to Discovery!! LOVE your vids. Keep up the great work, look forward to seeing you on TV.

  • Congrats Dave... Good Luck in Denver!!! Give a man a fish/Teach a man to fish... Awesome little kit. i built mine over the winter and spring. and you have proved it works... Great idea. thanks.

  • Nice! Coming out to Denver! Hey, bring my order with you and I'll pick it up when you in Denver. ;)

  • Send me a mail and we will arrange it brother!

  • Congrats! I'll definitely get the dvds if it pans out.

Oh and I had a thought, if you are going to be too busy to make any vids you should do a video outlining things we could self study while your out eating elephant ears or drinking transmission fluid or whatever...

    Best to you.

  • wow 2 good size fish in 45 mins and hope the screening go well all of us are rooting for you 5*

  • you kick ass! i really love how you showed yourself cast into the tree. a lot of ppl would have edited that out.

  • haha I did that but the tree was in a clif on the other side of a river the lure is still there.. if I want to go swiming I can get it.. been what 5 years and its still hanging up there..

  • I wont to make one. How cool is that little fishing kit.

    Yay for Discovery Channel!

    Brake a leg!

  • I use exactly the same technique but instead of carrying more weight I use my hand made hatchet handle as the reel !

  • You should make real survival movies sense tv will most likely not make a show on it. A waterproof field guide would be awesome too.

  • hey dave, this is off subject but i was wondering what you think about large survival knives like the ontario marine raider. do you think there practical or not worth the weight?

  • good luck. i like your vidoes

  • nice vid what is the adress to write to i'll put in a email or even a hand written for u

P.S. i got some good crappie at a lake that is private but we have permission to go to the crappie meat is transparrent cause the water is crystal clear so please respond

  • Man i was waiting for this.

  • Woohoo Dave is ganna be on discovery! well probably....:) I totally remember watching your first vid last year and thinking how cool that little thing is!

  • nice vid Dave, always best of luck to ya bro

  • What I like about this fishing kit, is that you can cast in kind of heavy foliage without much trouble. You're the man Dave.

  • Wow too cool. Way to go Dave.

  • can you make a video were you are frying the fish you catch that would be very cool.

thanks also hope your thing with discovery goes well.

  • yea hope you make it and stay yourself, with all that fancy discovery sstuff.

  • 4:50 that's also what you need in the wild. Humor to keep up good spirit.

  • Great video Dave. Hope you make it to Discovery and stay yourself.

    Keep up the good stuff!

  • Good luck in Colorodo Dave.

  • YES YES YES discovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OK Dave besure to use those hand wipes LOL . Dave your a light to me and faimly

  • How about taking a piece of inner tube and put your kit in it to protect it while it's in your pack.

Thanks for the vids Dave. Hope to see you on TV soon.

  • Thats a Good Idea, the Tube is Plastic though so not much protection is needed, you could protect the line on the outside with it though. Thanks

  • Good luck with Discovery, I hope everything works out.

  • rooster tails are best bait out there! Try the silver with blade spots!

  • nice video and fish 5/5

  • which type of lure would you suggest in survival situation. A bobber set up or a spinner?

  • Dave - great idea. I like the kit. What line test (lbs) do you use? And have experienced line twist with that setup and if so, what do you do about straightening it out?

    Thanks again.

  • thats great how you cast that thing... Awesome video... i hope you get that tv show on I think you said discovery... I would watch it all the time...

  • Go for it Dave. What was that address for the discovery Ch. I would be willing to send a letter.

  • Sweet

  • Wow.

Fantastic follow up Dave - that really flushed out how to use that system. Twice you went out and in no time had some protein for a survival situation that you could eat, or use as bait cut up for larger fish for your trot line.

Well done and best of luck on discovery!!!!

  • Alright Dave. Congratulations. The first step man, to possibly getting on a show. Good luck. Love the fishing kit gonna have to make me one of those.

  • man good luck and great vid as usual
